The reply from their customer service:

The life of any product is directly related to the way the product has been used, maintained, charged, discharged and stored. As with any electronic device, we cannot guarantee the exact lifespan of the product. However, we do guarantee that we will provide full support within the warranty period.

I used this shaver once every 10 days however Philips deliberately design their product to only last while still under warranty. Do not buy!

Short life, cant get repairs – I have used Philips shavers for years. Previous model PT860 still going strong after decades. Bought a Series 7000 model S7788 from Shaver Shop about… Read more

2- 3 years ago. Worked fine until now. Last charged 2 days ago, had two shaves, now flat again. Cannot find where to get a new battery fitted, website is hopeless goes round in ever decreasing circles. Years ago I would have repaired it myself as a qualified electronics technician, now at 75 years age cannot see or hold instruments properly after stroke. Will continue to use my old one until I find a way to fix this new one. I am not hopeful, as it will probably cost more than the shaver. Looks like I go shopping again but unfortunately not a Phillips which I have always preferred. I live 150 kms from Melbourne Australia. Any suggestions welcome. My suggestion is don't buy a Philips if this is the way their products are going. I use the shaver at least daily and absolutely depend on it when traveling.

Update: This morning, a day or so after I posted the above, I recieved an email from Philips Personal Care asking me for specific photographs of the faulty shaver. I immediately responded as requested. This was followed very quickly with a seond email from Philis informing me that my shaver was still under warranty and a new replacement is on the way.

What can I say? Sadly the shaver died too soon, but Philips has honoured the warranty. A replacement shaver is on the way!

Staff member was very knowlegable, courtious and helpful. I must say this shaver gave me the best shaves :-)

Thank you Philips Personal Health, top marks for service and customer support. Cheers

Philips 1000 series shaver for two months and here are my thoughts.

Out of the box it feels much lighter than all other shavers I’ve used. There is no heft to it. This model is advertised as charging from USB, which it does. However it uses a charging lead with a proprietary connector on one end and USB A on the other. Why not simply go with USB C? Perhaps Philips are worried about water ingress, although I only use shavers dry.

Charging is sloooow and once charged I only get three uses out of it, whereas with previous shavers I get seven to ten shaves. It seems the battery in this model is quite small which would explain the light weight.

The quality of the shave is similar to previous Philips shavers but the frequent charging is a drag. There is no pop up trimmer. There is no cleaning brush but I have plenty from my previous shavers. Philips say you can clean the heads with water but this is ineffective and would certainly shorten the life of the blades.

This is a very cheap shaver, but I don’t think it’s good value for money. I would recommend spending a bit more for a 3000 or 5000 series shaver for a better “user experience”.

Blade 360 (yes the positive reviews and hype got me) for something new and easy. Firstly battery life amazing, ergonomics great and it worked great first couple shaves then blade just started the odd face hair pull like it was going blunt, yet I was thinking can’t be literally x5 shaves in. It pulls and struggles shaving now constantly.

Made sure it was fully charged, tried wet and dry just has lost sharpness already just doesn’t cut bogs down on hardly any hair.

Blade still has full colour hasn’t faded at all like it states it does once it starts to wear. I looked up the blade wear to see just how long are these blades expected to last, says 4 months at a couple shaves a week. I used it for all of about 5 shaves over 3 weeks and it’s blunt.

It’s simply ridiculous at $20 a blade replacement and needing to replace after a handful of shaves.

Don’t bother with this, ignore the many positive reviews they are clearly company issued or kids that have just hit puberty and the shaver cuts like butter on their faces. Once you look into it a tad more you will find their are tonnes of buyers not happy with the blades on these shavers.

I’m back to shaving with the old Braun I have and a wet shave now and then. Sorry Phillips you have fallen short on this one with the blade wear which despite the other great things fundamentally the blades and cut are the most important, if you can work that out ya will be on to a good thing I’m sure.

No Adapter with Philips 7000 shavers – Philips shavers in Australia only come with a usb cord and no adapter but this is not clearly flagged on the packaging. I only realised the absence… Read more

of the adapter after opening the packaging.

Philips claim more than 90% of consumers have a suitable 5V >1A AC/DC splash proof adapter and say they don’t supply adapters to save on plastic waste and meet UN sustainability goals.

I didn’t have a suitable adapter so phoned Philips customer service. Chose the option for spare parts and was directed to what turned out to be a separate company - Statewide Appliances - that charged $23.95 for adapter and $15 for delivery. It took several days for adapter to arrive and I couldn’t use shaver during that time.

I complained to customer service by email and phone but they maintained their line that most people already have an adapter and that because they provide details of required adapter online that is enough. But people don’t look at websites when buying a shaver in a shop and the absence of adapter is not adequately flagged on the package (it is in a lower corner of the box in small print)

In the end, customer service agreed to extend warranty on my shaver from two years to four as they could not refund cost of adapter. Judging from some reviews indicating shavers sometimes fail after 2 years the extended warranty is probably of value.

But Philips should accept that their flagging of absence of adapter on packaging is inadequate and they should highlight it more. After all, they are positioning it as a policy to promote UN sustainability goals and as such should make the absence of an adapter more obvious.

Much quieter than the foil type that I also have. Initially though the lights on the head were a gimmick but actually, they give an indication for the shaving angle and the pressure required for a close shave. Now pressing harder than before. So, not such a bad thing. The cleaning dock also looked like a gimmick. But that too works very well. Wash shaver weekly. Dec 25 Update - After 6 months the shaver does not work as well as it did. on the box (Netherlands), that the cutters should be replaced every 2 years, it does not mean thay are doing a good job cutting for that length of time. As they wear, there is a tendency to push harder to get a good result. This could cause you to get a rash and take longer to shave. In my experience the cutters should be changed every 12 monnths depending on your type of beard. I would assess myself as having medium growth and density.

than all the others I tried, but still not good enough to match my previous trimmer that broke down after about 15 years of heavy use. I used to have a Wahl and the battery still remains strong today but the power button disintegrated so I needed to replace the unit. This Philips model comes well packed. There are plenty of accessories but I do not use any of them. The unit is light to hold. It charges quickly but you do have to supply your own USB power supply. Not an issue as I have plenty laying around. In use, the trimmer is quiet and easy to hold. It is comfortable without weight. I do not like the placement of the power button. It is on the underside so I often accidentally switch it off with my hand palm or base of my fingers while using it. I do not use any accessories or other sized combs. I only use the bare trimmer for the closest trim possible. The blades are sharp and I don't have to go over the same area as much as I did with a few previous trimmers I tried. There are no nicks of the skin on large area but in private regions, it can nick quite easy and draw a little blood. I have never come across a trimmer that doesn't nick in those regions. The battery charges quick and lasts a long time. To do a full body trim of every skin part from head to toe, the trimmer may have had about 60-70% left so I could probably do 3 sessions on each charge I would presume. The battery indicator on the underside is a bit of a let down. It is only one LED that changes colour. I would like a multi LED to give a better indication of where the battery level is (in 25% increments as other trimmers have) or a digital display would be better. I decided to keep this trimmer as it trimmed closer to the skin than many others did and I didn't have to go over the same area multiple times. The trimmer does not trim as close as the old Wahl does so on my face, I still use the Wahl which is still useable (I just have to use a pen to reach the power button that is under the disintegrated sheath that covered it). If I were to replace this, I can not afford a Wahl which would be my first choice. I would get another Philips if my undesirables listed were addressed.
