Is there a way to turn off the beeping noises?

Simon W.

Is there anyway to turn off the air quality indicator light but still have it on medium fan speed? When I sleep I'm happy for it to run louder but wasn't too turn off the blue light.. switching it to sleep mode turns off the light, but it also lowers the speed so that doesn't work

Unfortunately not, I also have the same concern but I just put it on sleep mode at night.

Hi Simon, you are correct that when Sleep Mode is activated, the Air Quality Indicator LED light is disabled but this will lower the fan speed. You may like to use Auto Mode as Sleep Mode is automatically activated when the Light Sensor detects that the room is dark. Your air purifier will have already cleansed the air in your bedroom prior to lights out, and you will be assured of whisper quiet operation for a great night's sleep.

Thanks for your answer. I would like the fan to run on high but with lights off. Is there such option?

Not on this model Simon, but our ZERO+ PRO 5-stage Air Purifier does have this function.

What size room will this air purifier cover? Is it good for 9m x6.6m? Is it suitable for combustion wood heated rooms?

Winix
Winix   DM

Hello Deidre, the optimal room size for the Winix Zero 4 stage air purifier is rated at 38.2 square metres. I note that your stated room size is approx 59 square metres. However as comparison, I use my Zero 4 stage air purifier in quite a large area (our main bedroom with walk-in robes & ensuite) and it works very effectively in this 50+ square metre area. It sounds from your question that you would be using it in a larger lounge/living area, so I'd suggest looking at the Winix Zero 5 stage air purifier just to ensure you get best performance. We use this more powerful model in our own lounge/living/kitchen area and run it 24/7 - again very effectively, in an area bigger than yours. And yes, it is suited to combustion wood heated rooms. How often would you need to change the HEPA/carbon/ionic filters for the Winix 1050AZPU and what is the replacement costs? How often would you clean the filters? are there actually 3 filters in this system? What else is there in the purifer that regular maintenance and cleaning? Also how old is this model? Cheers Kay

Hi Kay. I have this model, I purchased it I think in January and it works fantastic. I think from memory they recommend purchasing new filters once a year. You can rinse the plastic cover and the filter that looks like a screen from your dryer then you vacuum the carbon and the hepa filters. I do mine every month. Hope that helps. Btw, I also bought the 5 stage winix and it’s great as well.

Does this produce ozone? Does this produce negative ions?

Kerry K.

Ozone? don't know. Negative ions? Yes I believe so

Winix
Winix   DM

Hi Lui Below is an answer we posted recently about ozone and PlasmaWave on one of our other Winix models. This also applies to the Zero 4 Stage. Short answer to your question, no it doesnt produce ozone. To explain in more detail, the PlasmaWave technology creates negative and positive ions that combine with water vapour to form Hydroxyls that neutralise harmful viruses, bacteria and other airborne pollutants. Unlike Ionisers, the Winix PlasmaWave does not produce ozone or to be precise the amount is so small it is virtually immeasurable. In tests carried out by an independent laboratory, PlasmaWave produced only 3 ppb which is substantially lower than the allowable level of 50ppb as set by the USA's FDA There is also an excellent video on our website explaining how PlasmaWave works. And one more thing, you can turn the PlasmaWave function off if you desire. If you are unsure or have any further questions please dont hesitate to call Ausclimate direct on 1800 122 100

is it normal to having small knocking noice of fan?? its annoing, not sure if my piece is faulty or its normal?

Jason
Jason

Yeah, I’ve had that too. I’ve also had noises that sounded like water boiling when I first got it. Recently, I started getting buzzing sounds too and I had to turn off the purifier, because I couldn’t sleep with the buzzing sound. But all these random noises come and go very randomly. Even if I got it “fixed”, the noises would probably just come back again. Not sure if it’s worth my time and effort to get it fixed. But clearly these noises aren’t normal, as most of the time, the purifier runs quietly and smoothly.

We've never had any knocking noise with our unit. In fact the only time we ever hear it is if the fan is on full and even then it's very quiet, even at night

Hello, Russell here from Ausclimate. I'm interested to follow up your concern of 'buzzing' noise. This is the first time we've had this issue raised. Also, each of our staff including myself use this model and to date this noise has not been detected to date. Sorry to inconvenience you further, but can we discuss this issue by phone so we can explore this further. Regards Russell 1800 122 100
