Australian College of Community Services and Care (ACCSC) Questions & Answers
VerifiedI would like to know if anyone has completed the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistant.. and if it was good though this institution? In particular placement . Thanks
Hi Alex I did diploma of couselling. It was 3 of us which had to find our placement for ourselves. They don't provide that. My experience: never go for a company that don't provide placement. Maybe for Allied health assistant they do. Then after placement it took them three months to finally finalise my workbook. I complained and had to sent many many emails in this period. Other two students, one before me is still trying to convince them to mark hers. And the last one is still on placement trying to get the placement booklet. They are horrendously incompetent of what they are doing. I believe they may be terribly understaffed. You don't get anywhere with them. I haven't got my certificate yet. It's still getting processed. I don't recommend them at all. It's not worth your mental health
Thanks… I’ll give it a miss and find a Government funded one instead.
Hi! What’s your opinion on someone who has taken or is currently taking a Diploma in Counselling? I’ve heard some negative reviews, particularly regarding outdated paperwork and difficulties with organizing placements. However, the price is affordable for me, and it might be the only option I can pursue right now. I just want to know if the course is reputable and whether it could potentially cause issues when looking for jobs in the future. Thank You!
Hi, I’m Considering a community service diploma, but unsure about course quality and placement. Any insights from those who have completed this program would be greatly appreciated!
I just enrolled in a new diploma with them in child youth and family intervention, the learning platform has been completely updated since I last used it, a lot of the old staff still seem to be there which is good.
I did a diploma of counselling with them about 3-4 years ago (I just noticed ive got a comment from way back then below), it was fine then, staff were good even in the middle of covid lockdowns.
Its a self paced course, don't expect them to keep hounding you to study or submit assessments (seems some people blame them for that). Student guides seem to have made a big step forward (they werent exactly bad a few years ago). Assessments are pretty straight forward, projects require a bit of work, but i suppose thats the point.
If you need help give them a call or email the support team, they answer the phone straight away and respond to emails in maybe 30minutes, I see they are now doing zoom appointments as well.
What did you think of this organisation for online studying?
Perfect day for it
How hard was it to organise placement for anyone that has done Cert 4 or diploma in youth work?
Hello there! I'm thinking to take Cert 4 in Allied Health Assistance (Physiotherapy) at ACCSC. The price is very tempting but didn't see many reviews about it yet. If there are any of you who done this course would you recommend it? Thank you in advance.
Did you decide to go with them? Also did you start this course? I’m interested. Thanks
I'm struggling to decide which course to do. I'm tossing up between: *Diploma of Child, youth and Family intervention *Diploma of Youth Work *Diploma of Community Services. If anyone has completed 1 or more of these I'd love to hear your feedback in terms of Job options afterwards, whether one gives you more skills/credentials. I think the Diploma in Chil, Youth and family Intervention is fairly similar to tge Diploma of Community Services in regards to job outcomes? Does one of these courses give you more job opportunities than the other?
Thanks in advance ☺️
Diploma of community services would be the way to go, it covers a variety of topics within the sector. While the other ones that you mentioned seems to focus a few topics relating to youth and family. Diploma of community services gives you a number of options when picking a job and you get considered easily when having this qualification. This could be disability support worker, family support worker, welfare worker, residential care worker, youth worker etc. I’ve completed the diploma of community services and I’ve found that it is a requirement in some jobs within community services to have this qualification. I would recommend doing research on all three then deciding what is best for you, best of luck.
That's great advice thank you!! I've done a lot of research into all 3 but needed some information about job outcomes etc. Thanks for your feedback!
This of you that completed the diploma in mental health can I ask is one unit per month realistic or a bit of a push, I already work in the industry and am concerned about over commiting, any feedback appreciated?
Hello! I aimed for 1 unit per month and it was achievable with a full time job. It was probably the perfect expectation to have. With each unit you get readings and questions to answer based on the readings. My tip would be to read the question and then search for the answer in the readings based on the contents page.
Ok Thankyou. That’s reassuring.

Has anyone studied Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs with the Australian College of Community Services and Care? Could you please tell me what you thought of the course? Thank you Bucklands1@outlook.com
Hi Janine, I haven't studied that particular course at the college but did an allied health assistant course and just completed. I'm already a mental health support worker who works with drug and alcohol related issues, and can happily tell you the college provides great value courses with easy to read layout. I printed my course papers out as I found it better to follow and highlight.
I'm looking to do diploma of mental health. Is this really genuine fully accredited. After so many experiences and out of pocket fees just wondering if it will be worth it
Yeah it’s definitely legit. Just completed my diploma of counselling, cert came in the mail last week. Just a heads up you’ll have to plan your own placement.
Thank you
Hey Brooke. I'm looking at enrolling into the diploma of counselling as well. How did you find planning your own work placement and completing the 100 hours?
My friend did a Diploma in Mental health but didn’t do the placement hours. If she did the placement hours now would the diploma be current
Has anyone taken the cert 3 in allied health assistance through ACCSC? Reviews here vary so much! I'm looking for feedback regarding quality of course and response time from tutors etc. I'm wondering if it's possible to start and finish the course by October 23 before it is superceded. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks
Anyone done allied health through this company?
I’m about to sign up to do allied health cert III
Narelle did you decide to do allied health through ACCSC? Rachael Bolvary how are you getting on?
No I didn’t. Did you?
Sorry Narelle I'm only just seeing this. Yes I've just signed up for the course. Did you apply somewhere else?
I'm a working Allied Health Assistant and if possible I would encourage you to do the course in person if you can.
Hi Paul, I'm only just seeing your reply. Thanks for your recommendation. I actually went ahead and completed the course. You're absolutely right, I realised during work placement that the basic course content hadn't prepared me for the job. Completing the course in person probably would have given me more of an insight. Having said that, the ACCSC team were great, although marking times were long.
Can anyone who has completed a Diploma or Certificate with the ACCSC let me know? This mix bag of reviews are hard to trust. The good ones seem to all be very similar. Thank you.
I’m studying with them, not completed. Their material was so badly written i’m withdrawing - feel like I was set up to fail. Definitely feel they are buying people off for good reviews in exchange for refunds maybe - I don’t trust the reviews anymore.
Thank you very much for letting me know, if you don't mind answering, can you let me know what you were studying?
Hi there, Just enquiring to get a review from anyone that has completed the Diploma of Counselling? What were the pros and cons? Thanking you
Hey, i came here to leave my first ever online review and was looking to see what everyone else has written. im studying Diploma of Counselling with them and honestly Julie and Mark have been AMAZING and they have gone above an beyond. This is my first time studying after 15 years and studying online. send me a message if you need more info
Has anyone done the Diploma of Community Services? What has your experience been like? How is the student support and do you get your marked assignments back in a timely manner? Thank you
I’m keen to know this too Janine, as I’m considering this course as well!
im studying Diploma of counselling with them , so cant say i know about diploma of community services but trainers and admin supported me really well. i usually get my assessments back in about 10 days or so but i have access to my other units so i dont have to wait for my marking. Send me a message. happy to help
Thank you so much!
Hi Janine, just wondering, did you enrol in Diploma of Community services with them?
Hi, no I didn't. I ended up going through Tafe Digital. Just suited me better in the end. Doing a cert IV now and will do the diploma next year.
Hi, my name is Kayla and I am about to start studying CHC40313 - Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention with ACCSC. I've seen some mixed reviews about other courses, and I would really like to know if anyone else has completed this course and how they found it to be. I have found their courses are a lot cheaper than other places offering the same one so it makes me wonder how reliable it is. If anyone has completed this course I was also wondering what role or career position you completed it for as I am hoping to end up working with children in residential care through the DCP. Thanks so much for any responses I get, greatly appreciated! :)
Hi Kayla, i completed my course with them and it was great. Ended up getting employment with my workplace too. You'll always get some whinger's blaming everyone but themselves about their failures :) best to avoid them and make your own decision! Good luck with your studies.
Hi, thanks so much for your repose I'm very appreciative! I have decided to go along with my course with them, I'm super excited. Your right that's how I felt about the negative reviews, always sounded like it could've been the person not the company. Thanks so much! :)
Hi Apemann, question do they provide placement or you have to find it your self?
hey there, as far as im aware i have to find it myself but if i struggle they can help
Hey Kayla, I too would love to gain employment with DCP! I am currently still deciding on a diploma in community services or family intervention. How are you finding it so far? I am so torn!
Hi. I'm interested in doing the Diploma in Mental Health and would like to find out previous students' experiences with this course.
Hi Robert, I saw this when leaving a review for the cert 4 in mental health. I am still studying the cert4 in mental health but can say it is a great course. My trainer is Julie and she has been very supportive throughout the learning journey. If you give the college a call and ask them to talk to Julie she might be able to indicate if she also trains the diploma students.
Would highly recommend ACCSC:)
Has anyone done Diploma of Counseling?
Hi. I am interested in beginning the diploma of counselling also. Have you enrolled since asking this question? If so, how are you feeling regarding the experience? Thanks for your time. Jess.
Hi Jess, I have enrolled in the course. So far it’s been good.It has 17 units I have completed 2. Lots of reading to do. It’s a self paced course.
Were you able to complete the course how did you go ?
I have completed. Very good but i don't think it will be something that will end from this point. Employment opportunities limited with just a diploma unfortunately . They all want uni qualification. But a wonderful stepping stone and value for money
