Hi I have a 7000/H/2004 premier convertable car seat manufactured in 3/5/2011 does it still meet Aus safety standards ?

Hi Sally N. Thanks for your question. We recommend that once an Australian Britax seat exceeds ten years from the date of manufacture that the seat is no longer used. The Safe-n-Sound premier convertible car seat complies with the 2004 Australian Safety standards. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.

What year was the Series 7000H2004 manufactured? I purchased one brand new in 2011 for my grandson and am now being told that it is a lot older than 2010.

Mumtobub
Mumtobub

I also bought mine brand new in 2011. It should have a manufacture date on it tho if you still have it. As of this year tho, that would still be 10yrs and seats are only recommended to use for that long.

Hi Pauline W. Thanks for your question. We are unable to tell you the exact date of manufacture on your seat from the series number. The series number 7000/H/2004 indicated that your seat complies with the 2004STD. If you wish to confirm the date of manufacture, please feel free to email us au-support@britax.com and we can help you to locate the date of manufacture sticker. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.

Hi Jill, thanks for your question. The 2004 STD was based on age and weight. The 2010 and current 2013 STD is based on age and height. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team

Thanks for replying, but what age, height etc are the recommended guides

Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Jill, for this specific seat, Rear facing is from birth-12kg (12months) approx. and forward facing is until 18kg (4years) approx. As per my last response, this seat is not tested to height, it's tested to weight. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.

I have been given a car seat but the manufactured sticker has faded and is unreadable. The person says it's about 6 years old. I would like to know when this style was manufactured. Britax Safe n Sound Child restraint with ahr head rest. The book says... Series 7000/m/2000, 7000/n/2000 & 7000/m/2004, 7000/n/2004. Thankyou

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Carmania, thanks for your question. The seat will have clock/dials imprinted on the seats plastic mould towards the back of the seat. Please email a photo of this through to au-support@britax.com so we can advise you of the date of manufacture. The numbers you have provided are the series numbers from the front of the manual however this would insinuate that the product is coming up or will already be ten years old or more. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.

Hi I have a safe-n-sound series 7000/i/2000 is this still safe to use? thanks Ian

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Ian, thanks for your question. Our recommendation on the lifespan is anything 10 years or older should not be used. We recommend replacement at 10 years, due to deterioration of the plastics used in the construction of modern restraints. A seat may have become brittle over time, and simply will not provide the same level of protection against impact. Older child restraints may not contain all the safety features of the latest Australian Standard. Kind regards, the Safe-n-Sound team.

Hi I have a Britax Safe-n-Sound series number 4800/2000 handed down to me. Just wondering if it is safe and legal to use for a 5-6 year old who weighs about 20 kg?

Mumtobub
Mumtobub

No, I believe the weight limit on this seat is 18kg and an average sized 5-6yr old would likely be far too tall. Look into a booster seat for that age, or an extended harnessed seat such as an evolve. But no, the premier is not the right seat for that age.

Hi! I've just bought a second hand Safe n Sound Premier Car seat thru a website. The seller told me it was manufactured 2009 but when I've checked the sticker, the manufacturing year was peeled off but the series was not, it's written there series of 2004. Is there another way to find out the manufacturing date? I know that from Britax Team point of view, any car seat more than 10 years old should not be used so kindly help me. Thanks!

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Mom & Bub, there are two way that your Safe-n-Sound Premier car seat maybe marked which is the grid or clock system. For the grid you need to go to the last dot on the grid for example it would be on the second J at the top and 96 along the side this would mean that the restraint was made in July 96. For the dials you will have 3 different dials, they will be year, month & shift for example 96, Jul, D. If your struggling please give our team a call on 1300 303 330 so we can help, thanks, Britax Team.

Hi we bought the safe n sound premier for our 1 st bub 7 years ago (would have purchased it mid 2005), we are now onto child number 3. Do we need to look into a new seat due to updated safety features now available in current models, or length of time this seat has been in use? I'm not sure how well our premier seat from 2005 would rate in the child evaluation restraint program now? Many thanks

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Bea87, the Safe-n-Sound Premier is made to the 2004 Australian Standard which is weight based. This seat is suitable from birth to 12kg in rearward facing mode and from 12kg to 18kg in forward facing mode. Please feel free to call our team on 1300 303 330 if you would like to discuss this with us however they are closed until the 7th Jan 2013 for the Christmas holidays. Kind regards, Britax Team

I have a premier and bub loves it at 5.5 months has great sleeps in the car. However, I am concerned about the the clasp. Does one side have to clip in first? If I put in the left side (rear facing) first, that side pops out and doesn't lock. The seatbelt will only be completely fastened if I do the right then left sides. Is this part of design or should I be concerned?

Hi Krb22384, that doesn't sound right. Can you please call our team on 1300 303 330 or email us at au-custserv@britax.com so we can arrange for the car seat to be looked at by one of our authorised repair agent or we maybe able to arrange a replacement buckle for you. Thanks, Britax Team.
