I'm usually a firm believer in OEM maintenance and specs. My 2010 F150 has only been dealer serviced since new (currently 42,000 miles) w/upgraded full synthetic Motorcraft oil. Noticed recently that upon cold start up the lifters are noisy until the oil disperses from the sump through the engine. Do you think Castrol Magnatec would help?

You can only try.And don't be fooled by dealer servicing .do it your self or find a good service shop

Yes in my experience Magnatec would help. I have tried a Fully synthetic oil Castrol edge which did the exactly same thing? was not impressed as it was a whole lot more expensive. I don't know Motorcraft oil as it's not one of the south African brands. I speak from my own experience and use Magnatec in all my cars now. A 2004 Nissan Almera 1.6, 1996 golf mk1 1.3 and a 1989 Honda Balade 1.5 hope this helps? As you can see I'm confident that this is an awesome product. Regards, Gavin

My 2005 Chevy Silverado has 5-30w Megnecate oil. First time using I noticed a tick at start up that lasts a couple minutes. Should I try 10w -40?

Good morning. The Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 should be fine. Have you also changed the oil filter? Regards.

I drive a 2004 Nissan Maxima (3.5) v6. I don't know if castol Magnatec would be suitable as my car rattles at start up but normalises after 30 secs or less. Thanks any ideas?

I have only used magnatec 10w-40 NOT The fully synthetic one ie. 5w-30. in Johannesburg SA the temperatures range between 12 degrees C to 36 degrees C if that gives an indication. My car did NOT like the fully synthetics at all and actually become worse. The magnetec 10w-40w seems to have the spot perfectly. I'd would try it as it will definitely not do any harm. It's not going to extreme being mineral and synthetic base. I think right from start up you would notice the difference and I'm hazarding a guess so will the rattle. I would stay away from fully synthetics as I've noticed they are to "THIN" for my car and the engine being quite old 1997 likes the 10w-40w. All the best.

Good morning. If your car's engine is a petrol engine then Castrol Magnatec would be correct. However, please refer to your car's owner's manual. You need to know if your car requires a fully synthetic oil or not. Castrol Magnatec now comes as a part synthetic as well as a full synthetic oil. The noise you describe sound as if there is no oil on the valve tappets/camshaft at start-up. Magnatec would certainly help in this case. Regards.

Can I use 5 w 30 apisn, acea a5/b5 instead of 5 w 30 apisn, acea a3/b4?

Frans

Good morning, I am not sure what the apisn means or stand for, but the ACEA A5/B5 oil is apparently not suitable for all engines. Please refer your question to your car's manufacturer. Regards.

Hi,

I have recently bought Ford C-max 2006. Can I top up oil with Castrol Magnatec 5W30 C3 as I have around 3L but Castrol Magnatec website say Castrol Magnatec 5W30 A5 is compatible oil. What is the difference between C3 and A5. Please advise.
