Hey mate. I have 2 and they both run great. Have cut about 20t firewood over 3 years (1 saw is a backup and hardly gets used). I use a rich mix for fuel (25:1) with any standard 2 stroke oil. Pump the primer bubble. To start them, you need to squeeze and hold full throttle, then manually hold the choke button fully open (gently though) and then release full throttle, then let go of choke leaving it locked wide open. (Don't touch the throttle or choke any more until it fires or the choke will fully close). Mine fires on the third pull every time. Once it fires, push the choke to the closed position gently (don't hit the throttle at all, the choke cam is now sitting on a slightly open notch). Give the saw another pull and it should start and high idle. Let it warm up for 30 seconds or so and you'll be good to go. If it stalls, you need to adjust the idle mixture in or out a little depending on if it was a rich or lean stall. Try turning the idle screw up a little before adjusting mix to see if that corrects the issue. If it just slowed down more and more and stalled then it likely was too rich. If it ran up a bit before stalling, it was likely lean. (L screw in to make more lean, out for richer). I have adjust my low and high mix screws and the idle a little. It runs great, stalls on rare occasions on a hot day, but otherwise has been really good for an $80 chainsaw, delivered to the door. Still on the original bar and chain too. Been cutting red box, white box, yellow box, peppermint, red gum and the occasional stringybark.

If you are struggling to start any chainsaw with E-start, make sure you understand what it is and how to use it properly. It makes a big difference to the turnover speed during starting and usually makes the difference between starting and not. Also recommend trying to start the saw without the choke initially as flooding a new saw prevents successful start.

Hi, I got a giantz whipper snipper. In the manual it says to remove the spark plug and put 1-2cc of oil before storage. Is this after every use

Chris T.
Chris T.

Did you get it working Doug? I've had one for over a year now and use it all the time with a 300mm auger in clay soil and it's been absolutely brilliant, hasn't missed a beat. I'll apologise in advance but I'll cover the basics just in case you missed a step. 1) I use a fuel mix of 40:1 in this and a bunch of chainsaws 2) make sure the on/off switch is on 3) open the choke 4) give the petrol bubble half a dozen pumps 5) one or two pulls of the starter should do it for 6) if after a third pull it hasn't started close the choke and mine will almost always start on the next attempt, two more at most. 7) if you got it going with the choke open immediately close it.

To be honest mate, I'm so impressed with mine I'm seriously thinking of buying their 88cc chainsaw for milling larger logs. I've got a petrol and an electric stihl chainsaws but at a tenth of the price of their chainsaws are half as good as the post hole digger I bought I'll be ecstatic about saving the 2 grand. I'm pretty sure the bar and chain will be rubbish which is why I'm researching if there are compatible reputable brand bars / chains that will fit, but from my experience the motors are ridgy didge.

Bryan T.
Bryan T.

I've cut around 20t of tough firewood and I'm still on the original (Oregon) bar and chain. No dramas with the 58cc saw either, starts on the 3rd pull like clockwork.

Check your fuel strainer (air filter) for dirt, your fuel lines and primer for cracks. Check your on/off switch wire to make sure it isn't touching ground. Air, fuel spark, it has to be one of those 3.

Do stihl bars fit giant saws?

Did you ever find out Phillip? I suspect Husqvarna bars might but I'm here trying to confirm.

please can anyone tell me who sell coil that create the spark on spark plug , my coil is dead and I cannot find who's selling these spare parts. charles F. thanks charlesfalise@gmail.com

Hi Boomer, my experience is if you buy Giantz you have done your dough. I don't know how consumer affairs allows these products to be sold. I salvaged what I could from my saw and binned the rest. Pay a little more and get something that will work. Trouble is there are not two many 2 stroke motors on the market my guess is the motor and coil etc will be found on other chinese Csaws. try a local repair shop and see if they have something suitable. Sorry you have joined the Giantz dissatisfied customer club.

Can I buy a Giants battery only for my Giants pole saw and hedge trimmer. Have lost the battery . Couldn’t find an email address or any information on any websites that sell product. So thought I would try your site in the hope you might have a contact email address or know iff you can but just the battery. Thanks have a good day Craig Jenkins . Email - [Email Removed]

I have been unable to find a replacement 18/20 Volt battery for my Giantz Pole saw. It lasted approximately six uses.

alon
alon

Eon, check the battery for voltage just after it has been on charge for say 10 min for over/under charge voltage. check on ebay if you can find a generic replacement battery or fitting to allow the use of another battery brand. open battery case and check the voltage of the individual cells. you may have to get the battery rebuilt so you can use the case. my petrol started only if I didn't prime it. I salvaged the bar and chain, the rest of my money was 'lost'. I don't use amazon or ebay if I can avoid them. Try aliexpress or wish to avoid junk. Chinese consumer laws are much much stronger than ours.

Eon
Eon

Thanks Alon, I tried to purchase a generic replacement but without success. I may need to as you suggest have the battery rebuilt which could be expensive. It’s disappointing when after sales service is nonexistent. I will only purchase “known” brands in the future. More junk

I bought a gasoline chainsaw csaw-fofv-16-ov-rdbk, I spend half an hour trying to start it, with much frustration, the only way i can get it started is by spraying Aerostart down the carby, very frustrating. not happy. I'm about to take the thing to the dump.

I also bought a Gaintz 20" chainsaw it wont start, spoke to net wholesaler and after much argee bargee the manufacture GaintZ asked me to send it back, impossible no courier is going to ship a product with fuel residue in it. So again I spoke to the wholesaler and threatened them with Consumer Affairs and Trade Practices reporting, finally they agreed to send me another Chainsaw same model. It arrived and wont start also go figure how a mob like this is allowed to trade. Robert

I have decided to never buy another Giantz brand of anything and am passing the word on. Only buy this brand if you want to be ripped off with no way to get any decent response from sellers.

Have you primed it before trying to start. It takes a fair bit of pumping the little priming bubble to get the fuel through, once you seeing keep going untill it gets tight (about 3 pumps) and they generally fire up.

A GiantZ 20 inch bar 62cc You must put as gap 0.06" or 0.07" gap on the spark plug , Do you have a spark on your spark plug ? also see the coil is there 2 screw to fix the coil on to the block and are the screw longer than all the other it must also on those screw have some kind of rubber washer so the screws are isolated from the metal or if the screw are not isolated it will not give a spark on the spark plug . Those rubber washers look like a top hat upside down, you put the screw in to the washer so the rim is between the screw and the hole to screw it on ( comprendes amigos) my Giantz 20" chain saw is fantastic for $100 buck delivered instead of a $1000.00 for a stilh chain saw
