Hello, my Mum brought me a Hi-Pod Roma as I'm due this week. I've installed it cos it said from Birth. However the seat has no Neck Support for Newborn, but the book and seat box clearly state from Birth! The Angle still looks too high to be safe for baby. The book says to use (if supplied). I can't return it but I'm to scared to use it. Can I buy one seperately and still comply with Australian Standards?

I recall (when I had the seat) that as long as it’s rear facing, theoretically the seat is very much legal for a newborn, but it could just be the design of this seat that it does not have a support cushion for the neck. Really for a newborn I’d be more comfortable with a capsule based seat because aside from being able to remove and reinstall the capsule without waking the bub, it will likely have a neck support cushion too. You might be best just parking this Hipod Roma aside until your bub is at least 6months old (because it is a very good seat for older children) and just investing in a rear facing seat with neck cushions - hopefully you’re not in lockdown so that you can actually check them out at Baby Bunting Big W etc …

Hi Kylie w. Thanks for your question. The Hipod Roma complies with the Australian standards and has been tested from birth - 4 years. We do suggest that you look at the angle of the seat as some vehicles backrests may be more upright than others. There also is a section in your manual which explains about 'packing' which is to assist with restraints which sit too upright. If you require further assistance, please feel free to email au-support@britax.com

Kind regards, the Hipod team

Is there a trick to removing the tether strap from the car anchor point? Ours will not unclip. When we try and depress the clip to remove it, it seems slightly too long and it cannot be depressed - it catches against metal middle part of the anchor point. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hipod

Hi Deb, thanks for your question. This can be depending on which way the anchor clip was attached onto the anchor point. We also ensure checking that the tether strap has been loosened too as this would make it easier when unclipping the anchor clip. Please feel free to email au-support@britax.com if you require further assistance. Kind regards, the Hipod team.

There is also a plastic cover/lock in the anchor clip that (annoyingly!) prevents the anchor clip from dislodging from the anchor point easily - it works so well that it's impossible to unlock the clip altogether! What I've done is "peeled" off the plastic cover, then swing it round out of the way - sometimes you need a little nose plier to squeeze the clip out. Design fail, if you ask me! Maybe youtube this.

Oh my goodness - you are a genius!! Removed the plastic cover and bingo - unhooked it. So happy - thankyou :-)

Can this be used for a longer rear facing seat eg. 24 months. I realise it would depend on the child’s size. Has anyone used it for longer than the 12 months specified ?

Hey all, I have just ordered the highpod Roma for my car which is a rather small car (peauget) and I was curious if it's going to fit, I originally had a mother's choice installed and it's rather chunky and sits awkwardly.

Would this fit in a small car like Suzuki swift?

Aranciata-oz
Aranciata-oz

Can’t see why not ... almost all car seats will fit in most cars ... and two seats as well in total in the back row ... the only dilemma is will three seats fit in the back row, and there’s no way of finding out until one actually tests it physically.

Yes it would, i also have a small car and it fits fine

Hi, I would like to know the width of this car seat?

With the insert for newborns, when are we supposed to remove that? Any particular age? My seat came with no manual or anything! Thank you

Jo S

I removed it when my son became too squashed in it to be comfortable. As long as they fit in it, it'll give them a good padding and protection.

We removed it when we were comfortable enough that she had grown beyond its sizing capabilities

Hi, just wondering how you loosen the straps that the babies arms go through to get them out of the car seat?

Raychiiee

Below the buckle where u clip in the straps under the cover you will see a black strap well there is a button that you push on that part and while pushing that button pull the straps outwards hope that helps

I purchased this seat but it doesn't have isofix attachments. Can I buy them separately as it's very moveable without them?

Jess E
Jess E

I would also like to know the answer to this question too as I have seen in the photo on the internet of the car seat that it clearly has Isofix attachments. But when I went out to my car to look at the seat I can see that there are holes where they are meant to go but they are covered by stickers.

Someone, please help with this question. Can we buy the attachment for the Hipod Roma to have Isofix?
