Husqvarna 365 Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi. I have a 365 Husqvarna chain saw in very good condition and all of a sudden it started to leak bar oil out of a silver metal port with pin hole in the center that sits between the two studs the hold the bar and chain on. very weird. Any clue why it would be coming out of this place. Cheers. Kenworth.
The oil dispenser valve can be replaced easily. Cost $2.00. You have to drain the bar oil and the valve out from inside
Thanks heaps John. Is there any manual on how to replace the oil dispenser valve as I am new to chain saw game but not to bad on the tools. Cheers. Kenworth.
Hi John. I have drained the oil and can see the oil dispenser valve but would like to know where I can purchase the oil dispenser valve and can it be punched out from the inside? Appreciate all your help. Cheers. Kenworth:
My old 365 Husqy is leaking fuel from the tank breather, can any one give some advise on how the breather should work, I know that it it is there for the reason of fuel tank rise and lowering levels and temp, gas expansion etc. I have remove the vent unit, pulled it apart, Any one know how it works.
I have a 97 365, hasn’t,t been started for several years.cleaned out carby and tank , won,t even cough. Spark looks good. Tried fuel down the carby but nothing. Tried some starting fluid but still not even a kick. Any thoughts please.
they are the biggest load of crap chainsaws
Crap, make sure fuel is getting to the carby you may have an air block.

Watch on Google found out how to start chainsaw
Year model Husqvarna 365 6501123 Husqvarna AB Huskvarna ,SWEDEN Would you know what year model this saw is?
Sorry Craig I don't know what year it was made but believe me I would not go near another Husqvarna even if I was paid. Husqvarna didn't even want to know me when I wrote to then in Melbourne Australia they just ignored my letter and I only wish I had sent it to Sweden headquarters to see what they would have done. Craig I purchased it in 2007 if that is any help I was told it was the latest model then.
1996 year of manufacture on my husqvarana special 365
Thanks you
Thanks guys I just did buy a new stihl ms391 as my 365 was playing up way to much ,I did buy the husky in 1998 ,but was second hand then
I read about the fuel ratio and I lent my chainsaw to a friend for about a year he is using 40:1 Bynorm Two Stroke oil and unleaded petrol but I read you should use a petrol with no Ethanol in it or add a stabilizer to the fuel. does anyone have a thought on this? Can petrol be bought in Australia without Ethanol in it?
i live in canada where we have access to petrol without ethanol, as for the australian market i can not help. we mix our fuel 50:1 and use a fuel without the ethanol. we also use the higher octane fuel instead of the low octane. we get better mileage and cleaner burn which means less carbon build up. as for the stabilizer, i put it in our winter fuel since we do not go through it as quickly as the fuel we buy in the summer. most modern fuels have a stabilizer in it. i frequently hear that ethanol is hard on the plastic and rubber parts in an engine, for example the diaphragm within the carb. ethanol, to me, is a way in which the petroleum industry gets to add a filler that allows them to raise the price and stretch their supplies out.

Thank you for your reply and I've found a gas station that sells fuel without ethanol but will keep using 40:1 mix
I built a log cabin largely using a Stihl MS 361 professional grade saw over a 6 year timespan, and I've used more weekender-type saws such as a Stihl MS 180 and a Husky 435 for up to 6 hours at a time weekly for 3 years felling invasive trees on a 300 acre woodland. I live in Pennsylvania, USA and have used commercial automotive fuel containing 10% ethanol at all times. I use mid-grade gasoline (89 octane rating, I believe) and the fuel/oil ratio recommended by the manufacturer. During any periods of non-use greater than a month or two I drain the fuel tank and run with an empty tank till the carb empties and the engine dies. I change the fuel filters every year or two. I have had no problems with any of my saws. Ethanol gets a bad rap from some people. Maybe some machines are more resistant to the water it can carry into a system; but my experience with several brands is that simple system maintenance steps such as these alleviate problems.
can someone please tell me how to remove the muffler on a Husqvarna 365 Special I've taken the 2 allen screws out and the 2 out of a bar going across the front of muffler. I can't see anymore screws or bolts I've removed the chain and bar also the top cover and just can't see any other thing which is holding it on but it' really firm so there must be something holding it on.
you tube might be your best bet. I use it all the time to figure things out.
Ok thanks Chris will do.
My husquarna 365 Special (about 17 years old) have problem with starting. It was excellent before, now it won't start (well, very, very hard). I use a clean fuel, proper ratio of oil, air filter & petrol filters are clean, fuel goes in to the engine, spark is good & yet it wont start. What & where should I look for the solution?
Regards, Mike
See if the compression relief valve is sticking open or slightly open.
Thank you kindly for your answer. The question is: how can I find & check the compression relief valve?
hi mike it could be one of many things but start with the simple first. yes the decompression valve is a good place to start. remove it with a socket wrench and clean it with solvent or even with a little gas (petrol). you might consider running a little cleaner through the machine, for example "seafoam" or the canned fuel which you should be able to get from the husky dealer. next look towards the air/fuel jets. if they have never been adjusted it may be time to take the machine in and have the jets adjusted. it is important to get the correct fuel and air mix so leave this to someone who is experienced in it. if the carburetor has never been overhauled then it may be time. there are only a few parts in them and you may want to try it yourself. the diaphram could have a minute hole that would be very difficult to see. a rebuild kit can be obtained on line inexpensively. after the "carb" rebuild it may need to have the jets readjusted. hope this gets things running.

Thank you very much Country Mouse, I will tray your suggestion. Appreciate very much.

Don't by a new husquarna, By a stihl!
Well, as it happens, after I serviced my Husquarna properly (not just quick clean up), specially a good wash & clean up of de-compressor valve, machine started on the first pull & it's going strong. Thank you all for trying to help me with your valuable answers, appreciate it very much!

Mike

Any have problems with 365 x torq
My 365 is not a x torq my understanding is that the x torq are much later models ,mine is a 10 year old 365 special, it has never missed a beat, I use premium unleaded with huskys 2 stroke oil at the recommended 50 to 1.mix ,no problems nothing and I use it a lot.
My saw runs great for a while then it acts like it's not getting fuel. I can wait a few minutes and start it back and it runs fine until I turn it sideways to cut a tree. Any ideas why it does this?
Give your chain saw with fuel cap on a real good hard long shake as in your fuel tank it has a fuel hose with a plastic filter that sits in the fuel. Sometimes it can get a small kink in the line as the filter can get stuck in a corner or cavity in your tank.
Fill tank real full and prime up. Start chainsaw warm up and cut. See how it goes and if it still happens.
Use new freh fuel and at 50;1 ratio.
Fill tank to the top run the saw as normal. If it runs OK I suggest you check the fuel line from the carburetor to the filter inside the fuel tank. It can become brittle and develop a small hole in it .Then it will draw air in and not enough fuel.
yep check your fuel line, could be a pin hole sucking air or a kink (nothing lasts forever) OR, if you have stored your saw for a long period with fuel in it it could have some "gluey gunk" in it, petrol isn't the quality that it used to be, clean your fuel system. Run 95 octane with 50:1 fuel mix, with a new plug even if the plug looks ok ($5.00 for a new spark plug you cant go wrong) the only brand of plug I ever use is NGK, plugs "break down" inside of the porcelain. If problem still not solved take your saw to a GOOD chainsaw doctor. Pete
Is there a weakness with the casing on this? Saw mine has a crack, only been used a couple times. Leaking oil now
Hi Nat. I had my 365 for some time now but it does not get a big work out but my mates one who we bought at the same time cuts red gum railway sleepers with it and his saw has not missed a beat. Only wear and tear is the chains as red gum i real hard on them. I suggest you might have had a thin die casting in that area thats cracked so if its under warranty i would get it fixed.Normaly a good brand of saw company would be very interested on how it failed in that area as it could cause a recall or a design change to strengthen that part.
See how you go and let me know the out come ? Also have you looked up any forum reviews on the 365 for that fault happening ?
I have not had a problem with the casing on mine. You should get it repaired under warranty if still covered. The problem with mine has always been getting it started, right from the time I bought it. I really did not get any support from Husqvarna.
Get it in to get fixed. That is not a common problem. It may be the worm gear that is busted as well but should be all covered under warranty.
Can I run a 36 inch bar on this saw?
Not recommended.
A 24" is more suitable but it may run a 30."
I wouldn't run over a 24" on it. It's a 72 cc.
That may be too big. Recommended is 28 inch but you may be able to go a little bit bigger if you use a skip tooth chain
You can run a 36 inch bar, mine has plenty of power for the job.....when I can get it to run. I have a 36" chainsaw mill bar to rip logs and it has no problem.
Regardless of the make and power output, consider that there may be a nail embedded in the wood.
So see if either: 32inch #9650607-32 3/8P .050" bar,
or 28inch #9650607-38 3/8 .058" bar would fit (use at own risk with moist wood) :)
