Thinking of buying a 25a dcdc charger has anyone brought one from itech and what do they think
Interested in user experiences with the solar blanket - either 200 or 300 W ?
Played with the solar blanket today. Overcast in Cairns but some good sunlight occasionally. Had the blanket attached to itech power station and fridge freezer. Took 2 hours to chill down. Blanket provided up to 110watts Not bad for a cloudy day. Covered one panel dropped back by 30%, covered a 2nd panel dropped another 25%. The lowest the power station got to was 89%. So the blanket is doing the job. Also looks good and easy to setup.
Thanks was that the 200W
I'm looking for an inverter that will run minor appliances if free camping overnight without having to crank up ur 2.4kv Briggs and Stratton Generator which was mainly purchased to run the air con in our van. We would like advice as to what power inverter we would need to boil a standard electric jug 22000w, a small "ELTA" brand fan heater wattage unknown as there is no sticker but I believe also about 2200 watts, plus being able to use a 900w Camec Micrwave for a couple of minutes at a time just heat some food or warm milk for the morning weetbix! None of these appliances would be run at the same time. I'm seeing a lot of very cheap inverters on Market Place all new and in boxes at prices as low as $ 95. LVYUAN I assume Chinese with very mixed reviews. I doubt I would buy one. What I don't need is something that gets hot, doesn't do the job and could cause a fire. My Van has 2 batteries in the front boot and one solar panel on the roof wattage unknown. There is a 12v system under the bed showing 13.5v and another box.."Projecta" showing "Fully charged...25watts" My tow tug a Nissan Navara Duel cab has a battery in the back which is used to power my rear suspension air bag inflation punp. Unfortunately my 11 month old Windsor Infinity Van came without manuals...not one, and despite a number of requests from the selling dealer I have not received any so have approached the Manufacturer 'Apollo" direct to see if I can get all the manuals, so I'm a novice flying blind. In the mean time I can only give specs on the small appliances we would like to run for convenience without hauling out the Generator just for an overnight free camp stop. Any thoughts on my needs for an inverter or should I go to an auto electrician with the Van? What should a suitable inverter be in terms of power and at what cost including installation if my needs as explianed above are all I need.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for getting in touch. You would need our 3000 Watt inverter for the applications mentioned above. Here it is --> external link
Have been told that when DCDC40amp running on solar input it may drag start battery down??? I have not had the problem but just asking..
Hi Bryan,
That is not correct. The iTECHDCDC40 isolates the cranking battery and ensures it always has a voltage of 12.8v or higher. The solar circuit on the iTECHDCDC40 only charges the Aux battery.
I have a 3000w inverter that constantly shuts of when drawing 2200w (kettle) microwave fine 1100w, toaster fine 1200w, …. Hardwired in during van build. Is it a fault?

Well...if you're running all those appliances, then it's a wonder the inverter didn't burst into flames :-) However, if it cuts out at a 1100w pull, etc, then either it is faulty, or perhaps it's the battery. These units have a cut off voltage to protect the battery from excessive discharge.
Read the post again…. Seriously!!!! Microwave 1100w fine, wonderful… kettle 2200w.. shuts off, maybe after 30 secs if your lucky. 3000w inverter can’t handle 1 x 2200w kettle … doesn’t matter now, got used to the fact it takes up space in my front tunnel. Boils down to the old saying… you get what you pay for!! Should have just gone for Redarc 3000w at 3 times the price.
The rating on the kettle may say 2200 watts but it might be much higher.
I too have a faulty 3000w inverter hardwired into the van by a qualified electrician. Just completed a 4.5 week holiday in the van mostly free camping. My inverter will only run my 900w microwave for about 90 seconds before the inverter faults and turns off. I have 2 x 200amp Itechworld batteries that are fully charged. With the inverter running, a couple of 12v lights it is drawing 1700w. The lights also dim when microwave is on. Have reported the issue and sent in videos of the issue a few days ago. Hopefully, will get a good resolution. I bought Itechworld gear as the reviews seemed good. Hopefully their after sales will be as good as most of the reviews.
Good luck…. My 1100w microwave draws 1% power per minute. It doesn’t shut the inverter down. Boil a kettle (1800-2200w) after 20 secs, shuts down. Easier to whack it in the microwave. Had mine installed from new, by electrician.. I run a full compressor fridge on 12v, no dramas. The 120x batteries are as weak as piss. The old saying … you get what you pay for.
