Checking online about throttles I found that in NSW theyre illegal on the street except where its motor outputs a maximum of 200W when assisted and 250W overall. Is this the case with the Tirol or is it straight out 250W?

I have the Aria bike. I think it’s a 250 motor and you have to connect the throttle yourself this way they can legally sell them ‘without throttle’ the throttle is a little lever and your use your thumb to titrate up the speed. To be honest the pedal assist is effective enough on its own!

Hi David, thanks for your message. Please check the NSW road law on their website: An electrically power-assisted cycle has a maximum continued rated power of up to 500 watts. This power output must be: -progressively reduced as the bicycle’s speed increases beyond 6km/h -cut off when: -your bicycle reaches a speed of 25km/h -you stop pedalling and the speed exceeds 6km/h. The Tirol folding ebike has a 250W motor, with PAS mode up to 25km/hr and throttle up to 6km/hr. This is road legal in Australia. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact our team at sales@leitner.com.au . Thank you! Regards, Leitner team

Phil c.here in west Oz I have a tirol bike , as leitner above have said you get the bike road legal . The instructions tell you how to adjust your bike so when you ride offroad its a lot easier. Without useing the battery i can get 30 kph down hill ( peddling so fast you cant see my legs move) normal bikes just cruise past me . So the bike really does most things i want eg folds up i can take it to country towns, cruise round lakes, find all the cycle paths Regard phil

Would it be possible to order a bike with a 35W motor instead the standard 25W ? or how easy would it be replacing the 25W for an aftermarket 35 W motor?

Leitner
Leitner   DM

Hi Salvador, We do stock one bike with a 500W motor - the Leitner Off-road Fat Bike. See more information here: external link  Unfortunately, we don't stock any 350W motors for any of our bikes. Any aftermarket modifications may void your warranty, and must be done at your discretion only.

Please note that any eBike with a motor rated for over 250W of continuous power is not legal for use on public roads in Australia.

Hope that helps!

I am 6 ft 2 inches tall and 113kg. ill the fold-up handle these stats? What are your freight costs? Alan, Ulverstone, Tas

Thanks for your message. We would suggest you to go for the full size Cruiser or mountain bike. We do still have customers over 6 foot tall using the folding bikes, however, they are unable to fully extend their legs when pedaling. And, it comes to personal preference when choosing the size of the wheels of an ebike. We would suggest you to go to your local bike shop and test ride a 20" bike (doesn't have to be an ebike) and see how you feel on riding a smaller wheel bike. Let us know how you go. Shipping a Tirol or Libelle to Ulverstone TAS 7315 is about $122.40 (subject to change anytime). If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us on 1300 856 725 to discuss further or send us an email at sales@leitner.com.au. Thank you!

What make are the motors?

Mace

Hi Mike, Not sure, though the website says '250W brushless motor'. I would recommend you ring Leitner directly as they are more than helpful. My husband was more than impressed with the bike and I did a lot of shopping around and research on them before purchasing.
