Hi, I had the Euro slim installed professionally facing forward for my 10 month old but her head keeps dropping forward so she can't sleep in it. It's really upright and I can't change the recline angle anymore? Will removing the insert help? She's quite long but skinny... thanks!

Hi Francine, Thanks for reaching out. We recommend the use of the infant insert for the first 3-6 months. Please feel free to reach out to our customer service team 1300 809 526 who can assist you further. Regards Claire - Maxi Cosi Team

Hi Melody, Although my girl is almost 5 now I did take the infant insert out and it made a big difference. I still use the carseat for her now so compared to other parents we've only ever had to buy this one. Still a great buy!

Our daughter has used this since 6 months. She is almost 3, and for the last 4 months has been complaining that her back hurts. We have noticed bruising on her lower spine and it’s become quite red on one spot when we get her out of the car. She hates getting into the seat now and says it hurts. I can’t believe we didn’t realise it was the seat until now- because it’s been such a great sest until now. When I looked the same issue up, there was another person in the UK that had complained of exactly the same thing. We bought the seat brand new 3 years ago and was wanting to use it for a while longer yet but are now unable?

Maxi cosi refunded us the cost of the chair. Our GP and chiropractor both wrote letters and deemed it as not fit for purpose based on our experience.

Hi

Just a question. While the seat is in rear-facing, the tether strap is flipped on the wrong side where you tighten it. There are no tangles, as in the entire strap is correctly installed, but it is hard to tighten/loosen cause the buckle is flipped (facing the seat instead of facing out towards you).

So my question is, is it supposed to be like this? I saw a video on YouTube and the buckle was as it should be (facing out towards you)

Thanks

Muffins
Muffins

Ours was the same as yours, facing in. It's annoying but I'm not sure it's a safety issue or anything. Those straps get twisted so easily though. You could take it back if your not happy though

Appliance Guru

Hi Dan

Any luck with this-? Just put mine in and saw this problem. Definitely going to be a pain if that's how it is!

Luke
Luke

You can flip the buckle around by pulling the pin out at the back of the seat, pulling the strap out, turn it and then put back in. Do the same for the other side so there are no twists in the strap at the anchor point. Just need a flathead screwdriver to get the pin out and clicks back in place easily. Out of the box the buckle is in the correct position for forward facing but not rear facing.

How do I thread seat belts through?

Muffins
Muffins

It is different depending on which way the seat is facing. It's not that easy to explain so I'd suggest googling the instruction manual. I'm sure there are probably some short videos on utube you could also watch. Altetnatively, a lot of baby shops offer seat installation services where someone will install it correctly in front of you. That way you have peace of mind

Will this carseat fit in full rearward facing mode into the back of a Mazda 3 hatchback (5 door)?

simon parish

Yes it probably will, despite the complaints from others and design flaws I came across it is quite compact seat. It will fit in a Mazda 2 which is a smaller car. I returned this seat and got a Britax Boulevard Clicktight but I don't think these are available in Australia.

Hi Ash, It's always best to check with your car manufacturer or baby store before purchasing but our Euro NXT is a very compact seat. We have tested it in a Mazda 3 and have had no problems. Any further questions please contact our customer service team on Phone: 1300 809 526 (toll free within Australia) .

Hi Ash, probably a bit late now but I have a Mazda 3 hatch and my Maxi Cosi does fit but it's an extremely tight squeeze for any front passenger. The front seat has been pulled forward and the back is pretty straight up (the reason for this is there is no ISOfix for rear-facing on the middle back seat). However, it is a very nice seat and fairly easy to use and my baby girl falls asleep in there no problems. Hope this helps :)

Wondering what the velcro is for on the covers of the shoulder straps? they rub my daughters neck.

l0ves_ch0c0late
l0ves_ch0c0late

The velcro is mean to th go through the harness hole and attach to the back of the cover to prevent the strap covers from sliding down all the time.

khouge
khouge

Apparently older models had velcro on the back cover but they discontinued the velcro and left it on the straps and not on the back of the seat fabric. I've been trying to deal with them to get replacements, they said they will send out new straps without the velcro for free.

Hi, I have the Maxi Cosi Hera which is forward facing and installed via the isofix connectors. Problem is I can never get the connectors the show as green which indicates the seat is secured. I have followed the instructions and there is no slack in the connection. The only way I can make them green is if I pull with all of my strength but it goes red as soon as i let go. I never had any problems when the seat was rearward facing. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated?

Ring Dorrell car seats - who is the company who imports them. Also you'll probably need to get a professional fitter to install the car seat.

Have you tried installing with the seatbelt instead of isofix? It sounds like it may be the better option here.

It can be purchased separately directly from the manufacturer (IGC Dorel). The capsule can still be used without the insert.

We have a Maxi Cosi Euro A4 ISOGO. When should the infant insert be removed? My baby is 3 months old, 62 cm in length, 5.5 kg in weight. Most times he cries when put into the car seat and looks squashed.

Maxi-Cosi
Maxi-Cosi   DM

Hi Chin, Every child is different so we recommend removing the infant insert as your child grows into the seat. If your baby is crying and obviously uncomfortable then please remove the insert. For some children it will be 3 months and for some it will be 6 weeks. If you would like to contact the Maxi-Cosi customer service team they could make a better assessment for you.

Does anyone have trouble with the Euro being too squishy for their little one? My son is 5 months old and hates the seat...I think it's because he has no room! I've adjusted the headrest, removed the newborn insert and loosened the harness...I also find it really tricky getting him in and out of the seat due to the rear anchor straps being in the way. Have I installed it differently to others? I followed the manual...

Hi,

Our little one isn't due for a little while yet, but thought I'd have a go at seeing how our Maxi Cosi Euro Isogo installs rearward facing into our car (2012 model Volkswagen Golf). I followed the online video and am happy that I have green indicators on the Isogo and that the top belt is tight. Just a couple of questions:

1) I assume it's normal for there to be a little bit of give in the seat when trying to move it, after reading some of the above comments?

2) Is there a way to ensure that the rearward facing seat is installed with an adequate recline? I have the base to the highest setting as per the instructions, but it can be installed at various angles depending how you place it in the car, don't want to have too little or too much!

Thanks

bels
bels

You can check the recline using a smart phone. On the iPhone go to compass and swipe sideways, then use the angle meter to check the angle where bubs' spine goes. Ideally it should be 45°.

Hi, I have been told by the baby store that my maxi cosi euro is installed incorrectly. I have it rear facing but can not get it to sit in the correct position as I believe the straps that connect to the floor of the boot are not long enough. I have it lying in the correct position until I try to connect it and as the strap are to short it just pulls the seat in to an up right position. How do I fix this? I need to fix this as my daughters head is flopping forward because she is sitting up to straight. Thank you.

bels
bels

Hi there, youll just need an extension strap for the top tether that anchors the seat to the boot. The baby store should have them. The top tether shouldn't move the seat at all, just be tight enough to take out the slack.

Thank you! I will go tomorrow and ask them. Would have been nice if they suggested this the other day when I was there! :-)

Hi Everyone,

I am currently having no problems with the seat except for one. I have a 11week old and the crotch buckle is too tight for her now. Does anyone know how to loosen it?

Maxi-Cosi
Maxi-Cosi   DM

Hi Alex, Thank you for your feedback and for the question, we would recommend one of the following to help you make her rides smoother an more comfortable: 1. To loosen the crotch buckle, we suggest loosening the harness slightly using the centre front adjuster.

2. Check the insert is sitting correctly.

3. If that doesn’t work maybe remove the crotch pad.

4. You could even remove the insert if the baby is big for her age.

Let us know how it goes, hope this helps.

Why would I buy a Maxi Cosi car seat? I had some safety questions after being informed by acquaintances whose professional installer told them that the seat has a problem with being installed in rear facing mode. So that the isofix could not be used.

So I contacted Maxi Cosi customer service via email. The response was very poor. They ignore my specific question about the mounting issue, only replying "in regards to safety, all our chairs comply with the Australian safety standards."

They ignored my follow up email - this company seems to be burying their head in the sand.

bels
bels

The side impact protection, comfort, smaller size and ease of use are the reasons I bought it. I have successfully installed our two Euros into 4 different cars with no problems. I also know of professional installers who have. Perhaps you need to find a more competent installer.

JJ
JJ

Thanks for the feedback bels. I'm glad to hear a report that the Euro actually can be properly installed rear facing using the isofix, since I had heard info (anecodotally and mainly this forum) to the contrary. I do like the other aspects of the seat such as size and comfort, which is why I wanted to buy it after knowing that the installation safety aspects would be ok. The first shop we inspected the seat had a no returns policy, so we would like to be sure.

Maxi-Cosi
Maxi-Cosi   DM

Hi JJ, Thank you for the question. Please note that whenever any brand new technology enters the market there is always a period of learning how best to use that technology. Since the introduction of our ISOGO system we have been working with both installers and consumers to educate them in the best way to achieve a successful installation.

We have developed a handy tips sheet (download here: external link , a quick ISOGO installation tip video (http://bit.ly/1E4CrL2) and the Euro ISOGO installation video here (http://bit.ly/1zE2svF) which may be helpful to you. With these collateral, in conjunction with our work with fitters, we have been able to overcome most installation concerns.

Hope this information helps.

There are quite a few negative reviews here with no comment from the maxi cosi official? There are only comments on positive reviews... I have a huge dislike of my britax safe and sound capsule... Including - my son is 4 1/2 months old and has outgrown it so the suggested time period for this capsule is rubbish.. So is the nonexistent ventilation making it a sauna when my son gets upset - even when the AC is on.. I need to now upgrade to a rearward facing capsule/seat and I have been looking at the Maxi Cosi Euro. The negative reviews are a concern

The Maxi Cosi is the WORST car seat you can buy! Don't do it! They ignored me for weeks and I've still received no reply from them or explanation. The car seat has MAJOR safety issues! My daughter would be safer travelling in the boot than in that car seat! I'm so devestated as it cost me $600. Choose any other seat but please don't buy this one as you will regret it!

Hi. I am very interested in getting the maxi cosi Euro but the head rests I am so fond of having for an infant look like it may squash the head of a 3-4yr old. Does anyone use it in an older child and if so, have you had issues with the padded head rests that sit either side of their head??

Thanks

Maxi-Cosi
Maxi-Cosi   DM

Hi Kass, Thank you for your question and for your interest in Maxi-Cosi. Regarding the questions, please see below answers: 1 – does anyone use it for an older child: Yes the seat is rated and can be used with children up to 4 years old and in some cases even older up to 6, because the set is rated by torso height/ growth.

2 – Have we had any issues with the padded head rests?

No complaints or issues at all. On the positive side, our technology is the only side impact technology that actually provides additional comfort as the air cushions act like pillows and improve the comfort of the seat for the child.

Hope this answers your question.

I have read a few reviews in general about seats not reclining back enough and baby / childs head not being supported sufficiently. This seat seems to have three recline positions and I have seen other car seats that have ten options. I am really keen to buy the Maxi Cosi Euro car seat, but would love some reassurance that the Euro seat offers this type of support. Any feedback would be helpful?

jc-bella
jc-bella

Hi, in the reverse facing position there is just the one Position. For the first few weeks my bubs head didn't seem as supported as I'd expect and I checked with maxi-cosi about their head support they sell but they said that's just for capsules and not necessary for euro. I did a couple times stuff a muslin on one side. But that being said, my baby also went in my mums car with different brand seat (safe and something brand) and a capsule on holidays, which both seemed bit more horizontal but not really more stable, the newborn head seems to flop to side a bit no matter what. When bubs grew it seemed perfect, but just in last week (now 8 months) she's started flopping her head forward sometimes when asleep in car. Looks comfy, but Im not sure why this has started, seat position or just a new comfy sleep position as just started sleeping on tummy at home (to my stress). When we have a second we'll buy the same seat (unless amazing new seat regaled before).

Hi, sorry just saw this. I used the Maxi-cosi capsule with my bub till she was approx. 6 months, then I changed to the euro. I have had no issues with her head position and she seems more comfortable sitting that little more upright anyway. There is an infant insert that comes with the seat to help give them more support. I'm extremely happy with my seat and would recommend to anyone. I hope this helps!!

Hi, I currently have a maxi cosi Hera. I have been having issues with the seat straps (the ones that go over my daughters shoulders). On the under side they get caught on 2 little silver rods which is causing the straps to wear and have holes in the belt. I was just wondering if anyone has noticed this on the euro as I'm about to dish out more $$$ to replace the Hera as I'm not overly impressed with it. Or should I stay away from maxi cosi??

Thanks in advance.
