How do you tension the cain
Hi I just brought one of these saws but the toolless tensioner is not working can I get a replacement one I am in Australia Tasman
Hi All, Any ideas on a replacement chain brake cover (M4218) ?
Mine is buggered too and I can't find a replacement either
Does anyone have details on the best chain and its length for the M4218.
After much research and consideration I have bought a few of these and at around $15 each (2 for $30) on Ebay it is cheaper to replace them regularly rather than get them sharpened. "2 X TITAN CHAINSAW CHAIN 3/8LP .050 62DL 18” FOR MCCULLOCH M4218".
All these measurements are critical to fitting correctly.
I am after a owners manual for the M4218 chainsaw, are they available online?

Is there an upgrade for this saw to replace the chain tensioning system. I have picked up a saw second hand and the tensioner system has been abused and the thing falls apart when ever you start the saw.

Couldn’t find a replacement or upgrade but after carefully stripping everything and putting it back together i have it working Without coming apart but have no faith in the system at all. I have since bought a different saw as well so mine is now a shelf ornament. I have seen first hand the blood flow that can be caused by a saw chain coming of at full noise, prefer not to see it again. Maybe in the future I will pull it apart and look around for saw parts that will convert it and make it safer to use because the saw runs perfectly and had never had any use before I picked it up just because of the mechanism,issue. Sorry not able to be more helpFul.
