Looks like almost all of the positive reviews here are from customers of JR Water & Gas in Queensland. Can I ask what the "Fair incentive" was to provide the review?

To all that have purchased this Rheem heat pump. How is it holding up? Everything is great when it is new, but time is the real test. There are some very poor reviews on heat pumps with them failing after a few years. I am tossing up whether to go solar hws, this heat pump hws, or due to the initial outlay, get a regular electric hws and use the difference to upgrade solar panels.

Using a smart meter relay (fronius) the hw here in qld has been free for the last 6 years… this may not be the same in other areas as we have greater amount of sunlight….

Hi Andrew D - thank you for posting that query as I am currently doing my research to replace a fantastic 13 year old Rheem gas storage system that is nearing end of life. I’ve seen one very poor review by a dissatisfied customer Jay in NSW about very poor Rheem customer assistance on a failure of this product after 3.5 years. I can’t see if that was resolved.

Customer service on warranty failures is important.

I would also like to hear more from Rheem customers of this product about dealing with Rheem over any problem.

Its a system I am willing to pay for up front as long as Rheem customer support, for a properly maintained system, properly responds.

Well we’re not getting a heat pump after all and will be replacing our gas system with a Rheem gas 160l storage tank system. Our excellent plumber has advised against the heat pump. It seems there may be too few licensed plumbers authorised by Rheem to service the heat pumps so difficulties getting someone authorised to attend to maintain the warranty. Our plumber can continue to service a new Rheem gas storage system. Interesting.
