Britax Safe-n-Sound Maxi AHR Questions & Answers
VerifiedWhat is the Age limit for a maxi AHR? TIA
Hi, thank you for your message. The harness can be used until 4 years of age, or where shoulder height markers indicate. From there a seatbelt can be used with the seat until 8 years of age, or where height markers indicate. Kind Regards Britax Safe-n-Sound team.
Hi Can I please ask how long these seats last? Is there an expiry after 6 years? Or is it longer - 9 or 10 years?
Thanks,
Hi CK1, thanks for your question. Our recommendation on the lifespan is anything 10 years or older should not be used. We recommend replacement at 10 years, due to deterioration of the plastics used in construction of modern restraints. A seat may have become brittle over time, and simply will not provide the same level of protection against impact. Older child restraints may not contain all the safety features of the latest Australian Standard. If you have any further questions please feel free to give us a call on 1300 303 330 or LiveChat at external link kind regards, The Britax Team
Hi I have 5 year old twins weighing 14.5kg and we have the maxi ahr, the seat markers now suggests we should be moving them to a lap sash, which having 3 car seats wide in the back is extremely hard to buckle them in, should/can we remain having them in the harness or is it possible to use seat belt extensions? They also seem too small to even be sitting in a lap sash regardless of their age
Hi ash my daughter is using this seat she is 4 year old and still use the harness I haven't explored the option of the lap sash yet so can't really answer your question. But I will try to change it to lap sash and see if it works or not .
Thank you, I have contacted britax and have decided to keep them in harness until they have a growth spurt and become well above the market that suggests seat belt and hopefully by then I can either turn my younger child's car seat around and they may fit better once I can move her to the middle
My twins are 5 years old and weigh 14.5 kg, we have this seat and by the looks of things they reach the line that suggests to move to lap sash, I feel they are still to small, am I reading the instructions correctly when suggesting that they move to lap sash or should/can I keep them in the harness?
The are also extremely hard to buckle in as we have 3 car seats wide in the back of our car, are seat belt extensions an option with these car seats?
Hi Ash, thanks for your question. If your twins have reached the shoulder height that states - change to booster mode when shoulders reach this line, you must change to booster mode. We do not endorse third-party accessories that have not been tested and certified with our child restraints. Please feel free to give us a call on 1300 303 330 if you would like to discuss this with us. Kind regards, The Britax Team.
Hi there,
Is this seat considered a large size seat? We want to eventually fit three across in a CX5
Thank you
Hi Katherine, thanks for your question. The Maxi AHR is approx. 46cm in width. Kind regards, The Britax Team.
Hi, I have a Maxi AHR (basic model) and looking for a second car seat. Can you tell me the difference between Maxi AHR and Maxi Rider AHR? I understand there are cupholders, speakers and armrests in the Maxi Rider AHR, but are there any other differences? Thanks
In short, I think in terms of safety there is no difference. My impression was that the differences were as you'd described and related to extra features for comfort and entertainment. I went for the simpler model because I didn't really see the point in getting all these extra bits and pieces.
PS I had a look on the Britax website and they've got a good explanation of the special features of the Maxi Rider AHR....

Thanks Talu. Just read the Britax site. Looks like their buckle system is slightly different too - to prevent the child sitting on the buckle when they get in to the car. But I still agree with you, doesn't look like there is a difference in safety features.
The cup holders are useless, my 3 yr old cant reach them if his straps are done correctly!
I've been highly recommended to go for this seat now that my son has outgrown his capsule peg perego. I've been told tho one can go rear facing first, but I can't find anything about it in the britax site or here. Is that info correct??
To be honest I'm not sure. Have you tried contacting britax via phone or email? You could also ask at a retailer....

Didn't the Maxi rider have fold up arm rests? Where have the arm rests gone?
this is a maxi AHR not a maxi rider they are 2 totally different seats.
HI Slwak, can you please give a call on 1300 303 330 so we can discuss which Maxi Rider you have. As Nique said should do have the arm rest and some don't it will depend which model and the age of your seat. Thanks, Britax Team.
I just purchased a Safe-N-Sound Maxi AHR too (not Maxi Rider) and it doesn't have the arm rests too. I thought thats the difference between the two - that the Safe-N-Sound Maxi AHR is a basic / entry level Maxi Rider as the shop assistance said. Is that allright or I just purchased a fake?
Does your maxi AHR look like the photos above lafa?
