What are the recommended recline angles for the Platinum Pro +? I can’t find it written anywhere in the manual. Does it need to be fully reclined when RF or should I go with the 45 (for newborns) degree angle recommended? Thanks.

What is the maximum weight for rear facing?

As far as I am aware it goes by the child’s height, there are markers on the seat. If shoulders are above the line the child must be forward facing.HI Leisa, thanks for your question. Ashlee is correct the seat now have shoulder height markers that indicate when the child needs to be moved, weight is no longer a factor. Please feel free to give us a call on 1300 303 330 if you would like to discuss this with us in further detail. Kind regards, the Britax team.

Recently purchased the Britax Platinum Pro and had it professionally installed in the car (Nissan Qashqai). Due to the middle seat being too small for a car seat to be installed it was installed behind the passenger seat which has left us no option then for the passenger seat to be pushed forward, too close to the dash and the back of the seat practically straight upwards. Is this what we have to put up with or can the car seat be adjusted in anyway? Myself, my partner and our older daughter dont feel safe sitting so close to the dash and windscreen.

You can adjust the tilt when it is rearward facing. This gives a little more room when it is in the most upright position. However as your child grows you will need to adjust the height of the headrest with integrated shoulder straps and this takes up even more space. We only just got away with it in our mid sized SUV but it was challenging. Good luck.Hi Stephanie, thanks for your review and feedback. The Britax Safe-n-Sound convertible seats only have one position when in rear-facing mode and this cannot be adjusted. Please feel free to give us a call on 1300 303 330 if you would like to discuss this with us in further detail. Kind regards, The Britax Team

Can I put the cover and infant insert into the washing machine?

Yes. Care instructions in the britax booklet say the covers are machine washable on gentle cycle. We’ve washed ours and they still look great.

When I try to recline the seat in the forward facing position it won't go to the final setting as the seat and/or tension restrict its full movement. If however I loosen the straps to allow the full recline the seat is lose in the upright position. Is there something obvious I am missing?

Best thing to do is go to a Baby bunting they can bring out the demo model and put it in your car to see if it fits. It may fit but take into account how far forward the passenger seat has to be to allow for a gap between the carseat and passenger seat. If this carseat means a very 'neck to knees' experience in the passenger seat, don't buy it. As your baby grows the baby seat extends so passenger seat needs to move forward more over time. I have 3 months to go till I can forward face and get legroom back.. Im using it in a BMW X3. Hope this helps!Hi Joy, thanks for your question. The Platinum PRO will fit into your vehicle however as Missliseylou said it would be great idea to visit your local baby shop and try the seat in your car. Kind regards, The Britax Team.

Hi there, I am getting very confused by all the negative reviews on the fabric. I live in Karratha, WA. Where the average daily temperature is 39•+ The lady at baby bunting said the fabric is bamboo, which is supposed to be cooler. However, everyone's reviews say their babies are overheating. I don't want to spend a stupid amount of money only to find the product is unusable in the Pilbara. Are these reviews based on an old fabric? What's the go for 2016? I am seeing a lot of very angry people saying they didn't get looked after once they made a complaint and I don't want that to happen to me. At the same time, I need to drive over 16 hours from Perth to Karratha with the newborn in August so I want the best for safety. Unsure what to believe here? Advice please?

Hi, that is extreme temperature! However, we do get the odd 40 degree days here too. In that circumstance, we would deffinately be having the ac on in the car. You never mentioned if you have an ac. To be completely honest, we always have the ac on in the car at summer. My child (baby back then) never had issues in regards to over heating. I haven't made a complaint in regards to the head rest yet. I spoke to the store from where we purchased ours from and as it has been over two years (one year warranty) they told us we need to contact them directly. So I can't tell you how they respond in regards to complaints. In regards to safety, we chose this seat as it was the brand that was used in our family. Hope this helps you! All the best :))The aircon is always on.. Due to the heat.. You would actually die without good aircon. The problem is I am seeing so many people complain of their babies overheating and they aren't in my area but major cities. So I am trying to find out if the interior padding and exterior materiel has changed recently to better accommodate this.Totally understand you're concern, we read the reviews about the temperature when looking into the Platinum. We get our share of 40+ degree weather in Adelaide (during summer mainly). My wife owns a VW with air con in the front and rear seats and I have a Mazda with air con in the front only. On days like this in my wifes car with the air con on no problems at all, whereas with my Mazda we tend to need to have the air con up on the highest to cool the car down enough, but little one doesn't seem get unsettled in either car.

No answer re fabric? I have a safe n sound unity capsule and cant wait to be rid of it. Tinted windows, Window sunshield, AC and my son still overheats in the capsule... Such a bad design. Maxi Cosi top of the range seat gets bad reviews looks like this one does too? Is the fabric one that will wick away and keep baby cool?

What I want to know is : are Britax changing their fabrics to a cool wicking bamboo type fabric in the Platinum and the Meridien and when can we expect it if so? ... I am due in October so would like to wait to buy something thats not going to overheat my child, otherwise I will have to purchase something else. Thanks

I'd just like a little clarification, are the straps easy to use or hard? This is my second child, the first was 7 years ago, there has been a lot of changes since then! Would be great to hear from someone who has had to deal with more than one chair and had the chance to compare.

Very hard to use. Seems like defective design to me. Safety 1st is much better in my experience.Hi Petami, thanks for your question. The Platinum SICT has a hassle free harness which means there's no need to rethread the hassle free harness when you child grows, reducing the risk of incorrect installation and harness fitment. Please feel free to call our team on 1300 303 330 if you would like to discuss the Platinum SICT with us.

My 15 week old baby seems to get too hot on her car seat. I am certain that it is due to the material of the product. What would you recommend for us to do as she gets very uncomfortable every time we go for a drive. Thank you.

If that is the case, I would check how much sun is getting on the seat and her. Uv protection through tint or add on screens available through baby stores should help. Thanks for your answer. Our car is tinted and I also use a screen however her back feels very warm after being in the seat for even just 20 minutes. Does the platinum seat comes in a different fabric at all?

I really like this car seat, and have it on layby, but have been told that because it is big i might have trouble fitting it in a smaller car..(i was planning on getting a 4 door Lancer..). Anyone know if it will fit? Thanks :)
