Hi there

May I please ask why the Safe-N-Sound Platinum Pro SICT (BS7200A-i20133) was retired in early 2020? Was there an issue with this car seat?

With thanks!

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Anna L. Thanks for your question. As the leader in safety and innovation, we are often working on new and revolutionary ideas. The Britax Safe-n-Sound Platinum PRO was not retied due any issues. The Britax Safe-n-Sound B-First replaced the Britax Safe-n-Sound Platinum PRO, featuring new features such as Clicktight, Advanced SICT, and a protective energy absorbing shell. If you have any further questions, please feel free to email au-support@britax.com

Can this model be fitted to a car that does not have isofix points?

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Karen H. Thanks for your question. Isofix is the international standard for attachment points for child restraints and is an easy method of installation however, Isofix is not a mandatory standard in Australia and the use of the 5 point harness has always been used prior to Isofix being approved to the Australian standard. The Britax Safe-n-Sound Platinum PRO can either be installed using isofix or the lap sash seat belt in a vehicle which does not have Isofix. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.

Hi, we originally purchased this seat for our daughter who has now transitioned to the next Britax car seat (1-8years). The Platinum Pro was purchased in 2018, is this still safe to use? Does it meet current Australian safety standards? We were going to re-use this for our new bub but have just noticed it has been replaced with a less safe option.

Carseat has never been in a car accident etc.

Thank you.

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Eliza2018, thanks for your email. Your Britax Safe-n-Sound Platinum Pro is safe for you to continue to use for your newborn. Our recommendation on the lifespan is anything 10 years or older should not be used. We recommend replacement at 10 years, due to deterioration of the plastics used in the construction of modern restraints. A seat may have become brittle over time, and simply will not provide the same level of protection against impact. Older child restraints may not contain all the safety features of the latest Australian Standard. Kind regards, the Britax team.

Hi, I found out online that Britax Safe-n-Sound Platinum PRO has been discontinued in early 2020. I have a friend trying to sell me this model as a second-hand item.

Should I be buying this item? any safety issues?

Thanks, Cinny

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Cinny, thanks for your question. We are not able to guarantee that a second hand car seat is safe to purchase as there are many factors to consider such as, if the seat has been involved in an accident, or if the seat belt and fabric has removed and placed back on the seat in it's original condition. The Britax Safe-n-Sound Platinum Pro has been discontinued and complies with the Australian safety standards. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.

Why has the platinum pro been replaced with the b safe, it does not have isofix and when compared on childcarseats.com.au the b safe isn’t even comparable safety wise? I understand it complies with Australian safety standards but the CREP ratings indicate the comparative safety a seat provides its occupant under certain test conditions, and how easily it can be used. Wondering why you have replaced a safe seat with a less safe seat in both forward and rear facing modes?

I purchased this in September 2019, and have been very happy with it, I wanted to buy another but noticed it’s been discontinued. Can anyone tell me why it was discontinued? The model it has been replaced with does not have the same high safety ratings for a convertible forward/rear facing seat. The discontinued model I have was rated the highest convertible baby seat. The current model has a lower safety rating.

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Sara, thanks for your question. The Safe-n-Sound Platinum Pro has been replaced with the Safe-n-Sound b-first. Ratings are conducted by independent companies, the b-first complies with the current Australian safety standards. If you would like some further assistance, please feel free to contact us on 1300 303 330. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.

Can the pro be used in a foreard facing position from 12 months regardless of the babies height (within reason)?

Kris
Kris

You have to check their specs (on their website can download pdf), but australian standard is from 6mths of age. If your little one is still comfortable rear faced, its better to leave rear faced. If you look up recommendations its as long as possible (baby is comfortable). Their bodies are most safe rear faced so young in case of accident. My little one is 14mths still rear faced, she has a mirror so can engage with us. Best of luck

Bec
Bec

Thanks Kris, My LO (4m) gets bad nausea and I'd like the option of trying both 4wd and rear facing plus if it does get better with time (which our MD suggests it might) we could go back to rear facing. My 2yo is still rear facing and fine.

Thanks for your help, ill try to find the appropriate file

Thanks Bec

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi Bec, thanks for your question. The Safe-n-Sound Platinum Pro can only be used as per the instruction manual and the height labels will need to followed as a guide. If your little one has not yet reached the first marker, your child will need to remain in rear facing however you can keep your child in rear facing if you wish until they reach the dotted line on the middle marker. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our consumer support team on 1300 303 330. Kind regards, the Safe-n-Sound team.

Would you recommend getting the Millenia or the platinum car seat? I cant decide, I like that the Millenia is not as bulky but is the platinum model that much safer? Thanks

KS
KS

If your car has side/curtain airbags go the milenia as they will work like the platinum pro airbags.

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

Hi AgeC, thanks for your question. The Safe-n-Sound Platinum Pro does have more safety features with SICT in the head and torso section, where as the Safe-n-Sound Millenia has the SICT only in the head section. If you wish to discuss the comparisons between the two seats further, please feel free to contact our consumer support team on 1300 303 330. Kind regards, the Safe-n-Sound team.

Does the platinum pro SICT have the little clips on the side to hold the seat belt buckle when putting the child in? NOWHERE does it show them in product photos anywhere. Yet all other models clearly display them.

KS
KS

Yes. It has them on the side. They are better than the ones on the platinum pro plus in my opinion. The pro plus ones stick out like tags where the pro are flat. It holds the seatbelt well.

Thanks so much for answering my question. That's great news! I've just bought the Pro SICT and look forward to installing it for our 6 month old to jump into. :-)

What are the recommended recline angles for the Platinum Pro +? I can’t find it written anywhere in the manual. Does it need to be fully reclined when RF or should I go with the 45 (for newborns) degree angle recommended? Thanks.

Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

What is the maximum weight for rear facing?

Ashlee
Ashlee

As far as I am aware it goes by the child’s height, there are markers on the seat. If shoulders are above the line the child must be forward facing.

Britax Safe-n-Sound
Britax Safe-n-Sound   DM

HI Leisa, thanks for your question. Ashlee is correct the seat now have shoulder height markers that indicate when the child needs to be moved, weight is no longer a factor. Please feel free to give us a call on 1300 303 330 if you would like to discuss this with us in further detail. Kind regards, the Britax team.
