Sunbeam Poach & Boil EC1300 Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPNs: 1099 and SEC1300How do you poach an egg in the doiler
Boiler
The appliance comes with some "mini pans" that you crack the eggs into. Then sit them on the tray and set the appliance to steam. But I don't recommend this appliance anymore. As convenient as it is, the tray (the grey part in the photo, with the holes where you sit the eggs) will crack over time, and you have to throw the whole thing out because the whole appliance wont work properly anymore as water starts leaking out through the cracks, making it an electrical hazard.
I just lightly spray some olive oil into the mimi pans, (they are easier to remove once done this way), crack in the eggs, place the required amount of water in the bottom of the egg poacher, and it will buzz when they are done, I haven't had any problems with my machine, I use it pretty regularly and find it quick and convenient, I love this machine, good luck with it!
Hello Lambertus D, Thank you for your question. Please find the instructions for how to poach an egg on page 7 - external link
Thank you, Sunbeam Customer Care
Agree, the grey egg tray for boiling cracks so darn easily, and $20 for the new one is expensive!
Could you please tell me if the sunbeam egg cooker has an automatic off mechanism?
Hi Liz, unfortunately not, it would be very handy. If you use the buzzer feature though it buzzes when it runs dry, and believe me you will hear it go off!
Bought the cooker yesterday and just cooked 6 eggs (we have chooks that manage more than 12 a day! Result for 6 Hard Boiled seems to be excellent ... but according to instruction "more eggs …less water" seems illogical! Any explanations?
Yes that is exactly what happens! Follow the guide on the water 'flute' for the number of water per number of eggs and they will turn out great every time. This is my 2nd Poach and Boil. My first one last me 15 years! Enjoy!
It doen't make sesnse, but it works. Same if you want soft boiled. Ask Sunbeam if you don't get an answer
It has to do with the space needed for the steam as that's what is cooking the eggs. More eggs leaves less space at the top
Does the boiler switch off automatically once eggs are cooked?
Hi Den P, Thank you for your question. We suggest to use the Cook with Ready Buzzer to alert you when the eggs are done. If you wish to leave it for longer please ensure you check the water level.
Why less water for more boiled eggs
Hi Debra W, when you have more eggs in the Poach & Boil, the water takes longer to evaporate. If you follow the instructions you will get perfect eggs everytime!
Nice to see this logical question addressed. I was also wondering at these water levels being less for more eggs.
I have lost my instructions, do not need recipes just main instructions, can you help..?

Hi disie71,
At any time you can go to our website and type in the model number of the item and you can download the instruction booklet.
Through washing up, my measure for the egg poach & boil EC1300 has lost the white markings for qty of water required for different quantity of eggs. I am lost without my egg cooker which is a wonderful appliance which is in good condition other than not knowing how much water to put in. Do you sell as a separate part? Thanks Val in Melbourne.
I would get hold of sunbeam and order another I'm sure they can do this . when you do get another remark your old one well as a backup
Hi valbletch,
Yes this can be ordered as a part. Please go to our website external link and you will see service & support to find an agent...
Thanks so much
We have also now scored the measure cup with a Stanley knife so when this flaw happens we don't have to spend more money...
I do not remember if when I bought this egg cooker if there was a poacher in the box. I would really like to buy the accessory. Can you help with that?
The poacher is two white trays that sit on top of the cooking plate. It comes with the egg cooker, it isn't an extra accessory. It's a bit confusing because it steams the cracked eggs; not really a traditional poaching technique. They don't look as nice as eggs poached in water but they taste the same and are so much easier to cook.
Hi, no I didn't receive a poacher
Where can you get the poacher separately
The edges of the grey colour rack to place eggs have broken from normal use. Call edSunbeam up to try to get the price of the part(lost the receipt though its less than 1 year, so prepared to pay for it), they can't even tell me approximately the price of the part( e.g. under 20 dollars or under 40 dollars etc) , told me i have to bring it to a service centre to get it 'fixed', and they will tell me the price . Its just a simple part I need not a repair. What inconvenience, does anyone know how much the grey rack cost approximately? Just needing to decide should I buy another one or just get the part without too much trouble.
If it is still under warranty and you have the receipt, I would take it back to where you bought it from. If it has broken due to normal use and not misuse, you are entitled to a replacement and/or refund. Without the receipt, the shop does not have to refund or replace the item.
I think you would be better off just buying a new one and keep the old one as spare parts. A new one costs $30 at The Good Guys, and other stores like Bing Lee and Harvey Norman.
I can't find my little measuring cup! I'm lost without it!!!!!!!!! Can I buy another or can you give me the measurements? Desperately waiting you response........
Not normally supplied, but we can try to recover one if we have a return. We will need to order one in to find out the water measurements, are you able to call our free phone 0800 786 232 and ask for Noah so I can get your delivery address to send the item out once we recover one.
Dabadia...Hope this helps......
HARD BOILED EGGS......1/3 cup water, MEDIUM BOILED EGGS.....1/4 cup water, SOFT BOILED EGGS....40 Mls water (approx), OMELETTE .....1/4 cup water, POACH & STEAM....50 Mls water.
Forgot to add Dabadia....Don't forget to prick the egg so it doesn't burst. Use a needle if you have lost your measuring cup which had the egg piercer on it.
