I have a Sungrow battery for over a year and it worked perfectly. Last week I bought an EV and thought it would be a wise idea to install a Sungrow EV charger. This is where my issues started. After the Ihome manager is commisionned i started having issues. The battery being 95% full but still not discharging and power when required is sourced from solar or grid. I called support and submitted the issue but no response for days meanwhile I am unable to use my battery. Reading from the internet, there is mention that the SOC for both power and backup should be set at zero but am unable to get the appropriate battery settings to be opened. Can someone please help me. Am prepared to pay for the service ?

I'm not surprised that you are having issues, as the way the SUNGROW instructions, and I assume all other suppliers are the same, are very complex and have idiotic terminology. You then have the id*ots who sell the packages to you and even worse, installers who should not even be allowed to install toasters! We had two goes with our solar system; the first was just 6.2 kW of panels. It worked really well but plateaued out at 5.0 KW. When I rang to check why that was happening, the tech guy told me that it was connected to the single-phase 240-volt system. I couldn't believe it, as we have 3 phases. We could be using the full 6.2 kW. The next set were SUNGROW 6.2kW panels and a 10kW battery. The sellers even asked if we had 3-phase power, so it got connected to it. The installer had no idea how to connect to the Wi-Fi and left! I connected that and got it up and running. A month later I went to try the backup system, as this is standard on SUNGROW batteries. It didn't work, so I went out to check it and found that the installer didn't wire it up. I rang the installers' head office and pointed that out and within days, another install contractor came to fix it. It really works very fast. I then tried playing around with force charging and setting it up to charge the battery from the grid. The instructions are very complex, and nowhere does it say for how long that setting will stay active for! When you see it for the first time, it looks like you need to do it every day! You don't, but it has working day and non-working day settings. It took me around 18 months to finally programme the battery to work at its best. We don't have an EV, so we do not have your problem. As I see it, whoever installed the charging system should have configured it, included in the price! There are a huge number of installers out there, but I can count the good ones on one hand and still have fingers to spare. Honestly, if I were you, I would get the installer to come back and finish the job! It's that simple. I'm in PARADISE, South Australia; if you need more advice or help, get in touch.

Ring them on 1800 786 476 and demand to speak to a technician. Keep it polite, as I did when I rang them about their rubbish instructions. When I started playing around with my battery charging settings, they must have noticed it, because they can see your system from their office. They rang me to tell me that the battery is having issues, and if they can fix it remotely, a new battery will be installed within 14 days. Lucky for me, I worked out the instructions, and I fixed it! They do have good customer support.

Eric, Many Thanks. I shall follow your advise and call them again. Fingers crossed they can fix it else its so frustrating to be drqwing power from the grid when I have a 95% full battery and excess is going back into the grid. Cheers George
