Hi. Does anyone know if there is legal action being taken against Custom Sofa's? My husband and I have lost $5300 and would love to join others in seeking a refund. Thank you.

Yes. They were at the Custom Sofa Store at Birtinya last Tuesday the 7/3/23

Selling floor stock before they go insolvent, I’ve tried fair trading (just allocated a case manager but considering they’ll have no one to talk to little or nothing can be done), if your sale is within 120 days go to your bank and request a “chargeback” as visa and Mastercard will return your money, if outside this still try through your bank and when they say no it’s beyond our time limit put in a complaint about your bank through AFCA, there is still hope!!!

Also, if they go insolvent, get verification through the governing body and your bank can assist as it shows them legally you we got ripped off, hope it helps.

These weren't deliveries, they were clearing entire store stock. Maybe removalist can help with where stock was taken. Or give this info to police to locate this scumbag. Hope this helps.

Yes we did but the lounges they had left are not suitable for our lounge .After yesterday surprise visit At North Lakes I’m sure that store will be next to go as they had very little stock . I do however feel sorry for the ladies that are working in the store as no way are they at fault . The owner of these stores needs to do the right thing and refund our money Knowing full well he was never going to give us our goods , Got to wonder how he can sleep well at night .

The person who owned Birtinya also owns Maroochydore and I was told Logan but the truck driver told me on Sat Nirthlakes. Please make a complaint to ACCC office of fair trading and stiputhat they traded insolvent as this becomes a police matter as it is illegal. Also contact current affairs as we are all trying to get our voice heard

YES! We purchased from North Lakes store. Paid $870 deposit on 11/10/2022 for 2 Rilaxa chairs + 2 stools in fabric. Advised 12 weeks to delivery. Balance requested & paid in full 19/12/2022. (Total $2898) EMail 25/1/23: "we expect your goods to arrive in approximately 1 week". Nil further and no response to our emails. 3/3/23 Lodged a complaint with Qld Gov Office of Fair Trading 4/3/23 visited North Lakes store. Attendant selling floor stock . Cannot process refunds at the store and communicates with Head Office by same email as customers- no recent communication. We plan to notify police this week A & N of Aspley Qld

If you paid via a credit card then get onto your bank and do a charge back as there is an insurance policy on your credit card for this issue.

Been to ACCC , fair trading and police now ,I’m happy for current Affairs but don’t want to go on TV , .It’s so sad for all of us to have trust in a company to deliver our goods and they do this to us $5 k We have lost

I've done some research on these guys and it seems like the owners, Joseph Daher and Chris Lynch, have other shonky scam businesses too. Someone needs to look into these guys and get them behind bars where they deserve.

Yea I heard that’s his name too , Cleary they are closing all there shops down and it’s a pity that we couldn’t sit out of one of his shops and see where he takes his gear as I’m sure he will be back at it again under another name trading . Apparently the north lakes one will be shut down this week as he hasn’t paid his lease

Another one here. All Sydney stores closed, "customer care" no longer responding. $5700 out of pocket. Complaint raised with NSW Fair Trading, also raised credit card dispute with bank. No news on that yet.

Yea went there and all floor stock from all stores are there (apparently they brought them from a store in Melbourne that had gone under , I call crap on that one , and they are that sneaky that you are meant to have an appointment , but just rock up there , have 2 floors of stock plus stock out the back , No way would I buy anything of them scum bags they already have stolen enough of my money

The Sofa Clearance Centre has a facebook page - and the photos look suspiciously similar to stock being sold by The Custom Sofa Centre, including the one that we ordered. Wondering if anyone has had any response from Fair Trading in either NSW or QLD?

I have confirmed that the Sofa Clearance Store is selling the exact same lounge and exact same model number as the one i purchased from Custom Sofa Centre. When you look up Sofa Clearance Store on ASIC, the registered address is Merrylands NSW (not Qld) which is also the same address as all of many of the "old" stores on the ASIC register.

We had exactly the same experience but lost $5300. So upsetting.
