Does anyone know how many kilometers you get to a tank for a kluger cv 2003 awd model? We are planning to drive from Perth to Queensland at the end of the year and trying to sort out fuel cost? Not sure which size tank is but to fill is around $60.00 atm perth fuel prices being what they are which is terrible!! Lol, any body that can help would be appreciated, thanks Rh

i can say that i get 520kms highway driving on my 2010 kluger's 72 litre tank. but yours have a different engine than mine so your one might be different.

Ian
Ian

The 2003 to 2007 model is a 72 lt tank , the low fuel light will come on at 60lt used, at 11 lts per 100km if well serviced ie good spark plugs and a 5-30w engine oil ,you will get about 550km to fuel light and about 650 km if you run the tank to empty.

The first model Kluger is lighter than the new models so gets better fuel range

2004 kluger grande.............. removed the radio unit to install an aftermarket unit..... now i cant operate the heating /cooling controls on on the Head Unit. seems 1 of the plugs at the back of the radio is for the purpose of operating the air con, fans etc. is there a work around for this so i can use an after market dvd player?

Barney999
Barney999

Not sure about 2004 models but I installed an aftermarket unit in my 2012 model with no problem at all. I did notice that there were some head units that required the surround and some controls (in particularly the emergency flasher button) to be replaced.

I have seen some touch sceen radios that have their aircon controls integrated into the unit and operated via the touch screen.

These head units are reasonably modern and have a connector for the control plug.

It is best to make sure when selecting a head unit that it is not one that affects other controls. Mine didn't. (Made by Joying)

Hi George, I just got same problem. After fit aftermarket head unit in my 2004 Kluger grande, A/C and other function on top touch screen won't work. Have you found how to solve that problem.

Your help will be much appreciated.

Toyota kluger 200 model and Subaru Forester 2007, which one is better in performance and maintenance?

Smit
Smit

The kluger is a bigger car and much strong performance V6 vs 4 cyl boxer. Service cost will be similar if you use someone like express Lube mechanics at 150.00 for basic service. We loved our forester but the kluger is another league.

If both are used cars then they cant be judged. In perfect condition though I would definitely go for a Kluger first.

I think you are referring so some licenced software that is installed in your radio?

Is it a Toyota radio or an after market one?

Find out the program it is linked to and disable it or uninstall it.

can you tow a horse float with this car?

KMR01
KMR01

Hi Leanne, the specifications say that the GXL 2WD is capable of towing - Gross Weight Trailer Braked 2000 (KG) or an Unbraked Trailer is 700 (KG) the AWD version specification say the same. All specifications for the car are online if you Google Toyota Kluger. Hope this helps.

Reasonable. Normally I am driving from home to work 5 days a week (average about 1.5 hours drive per day). I am using the 95 unleaded, refill once a week, about $75 per refill.

My kluger is 2WD, pls explain auto gear sys of P, R, N, D, 2, L for using correct driving

Ian
Ian

All Klugers in the Australia market place are 4wd in Australia. In the US a 2 wheel drive model was made

But like all cars put it into drive with the overdrive on and if the car hunts between gears drop it down 1 gear

brian
brian

P stands for park when the vehicle is stationary / r stands for reverse when you want to go backwards / n stands for neutral if you want to stay somewhere just for a little bit or if you are changing gears / drive is for normal driving / 2 stands for second gear if you want it stuck in second gear for some reason such as going up a hill and you don't want to go too fast / 1 will be 1st gear which is the take off gear @ possibly use it for going a bumpy dirt track or going downhill though you can't rely on it you must also use the brakes to help slow the vehicle as you might damage the gearbox

brian
brian

I would like to add @ the information should also be in your manual of the vehicle

Barney999
Barney999

IAN. Your reply above is incorrect.

No Klugers are 4WD in Australia. They are either AWD or 2WD.

Furthermore they were imported from Japan until 2014 and since then imported from the USA.

Which gear is suitable to climb hill FOR 2003 KLUGER.?

Ian
Ian

The Kluger is a Full Time 4WD (basically an all wheel drive) and does not have a low range gear box, so it is not very suitable for hill climbing off road The car only has basic suitable off road, as it does have good ground clearance and a very strong 6cyl motor that is paired to a 5 speed Auto.

If the question is about Freeway hills then all you need to do is normally turn off the overdrive to stop the motor 'hunting' between gears if very steep.

I believe the diff is locked at 35% power to the back wheels and 65% to the front. The CVX if it has the safety pack and the Grande have a limited slip diff and Traction and stability control will make them far better off road than the CV or basic CVX models

deenay

Hi to be honest we don't & haven't taken it off road. But the answer given by Ian above should answer your question!

brian

It's probably time to take the vehicle to a Toyota Australia workshop or a auto electrician workshop to see if they can help or you could try having a ducted air conditioning setup by daikan or acton put in that is if you can afford it

I had the same problem with my Kluger. Turned out to be a dirty engine management sensor. Took it to my mechanic and they plugged it in to a computer and removed the error. Still comes on intermittently, but doesn't affect driving.

Ian

Get it checked out I had a knock sensor fail on my old Toyota and because I did not replace it, 60000km later the engine failed, but happy now I have a Kluger
