I have not had a confirmation that the email was received or a response. I wish to communicate by email rather then phone because I have photos to share as part of my request. Hi Sue I’m not sure, however I had the same issue, before I finally got paired with the hotel from hell( twin towers) courtesy of Wotif,it could be the calm before the storm . Be weary, trust your gut. Good luck!.

Q. Are you thinking of using WOTIF? A. Please think again. WOTIF - They are unscrupolous CONMEN who will rip you off without conscience. I booked a night at the Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise two weeks in advance and I received a questionairre, "How did you like the Crowne Plazs?" I answered "Hold on, check the date I haven't been yet." When I turned up at the Crowne Plaza on the booked date, they had no booking and no money (even for the wrong date). My partner tried to book two nights when everything else was booked out and supplied her details. She received an answer, "No it is booked out".... Two weeks later she noticed two nights had beern charged on her C/C. Wotif claim they can move your booking to the next available dates,,,, even if you are not in the country. Half a day arguing with WOTIF resulted in NOTHING. Worst booking ever and worst staff service ever, worst theives ever.... Use this shonky company at your peril.

I booked a hotel last night as book now pay later. The booking process was very easy and stated $0 would be taken from my card.

Shortly after booking I received an email from the hotel advising my card has a hold on it for $600. When I queried to see if it was a temporary charge they said it would be on my card until I check in.. which is 6 months from now. This was not in the booking process at all. How can a company advertise something as book now pay later and restrict your account for 6 months?

The lack of transparency and deceptive nature of the advertising made me sick so I cancelled my booking and booked elsewhere. A customer service rep said "this is to ensure you have funds and you're not just holding a room". Is it legal to say you won't be charged anything and separately the hotel will put a hold on your account for an undisclosed and not approved value?

There are so many things about wotiif which sucks. This wotif needs to be banned, they don’t care about costumers. They definitely need legal solution.

Are Wotif a complete scam ,refund promised but not forthcoming .does one have to go to consumer affairs.Has anyone ever got a refund. A cancellation within half an hour of a booking due to an error on our behalf naming the wrong month $352 is no small thing and the phone calls go unanswered or they hang up?

i never got a reply , just a pain i got stuck in manila 35 deg heat with asthma . what goes around comes around. The money was the least of my problems.

We got our refund. The email confirmation said it could take 7-10 business days. Luckily ours came within 3 days.

I have to say good luck even trying !!! However Draw attention to the website (last time I looked) that offers/claims/advertises ‘no booking fee’ as part of the draw card for this place….. You should in all seriousness be able to ask for a refund and have it returned as you are cancelling the booking

I do not know how long this will take — the ‘person/owner/manager’ flatly refused to return my money that he illegally withdrew — maybe contact your bank — you will never get his last name and contact is difficult once you request return

Not sure but when we cancelled one of our passenger’s flight (we had 5 people and 1 couldn’t come) and not only did they make the process exceptionally hard but we also never received our refund. They said the refund was issued but it’s been 2 months no refund. I guess it might be an issue with our airplane service but communication with Wotif is hideously difficult.

Hello.... I recently booked and paid for 2 x Return Flights from Sydney to Bangkok through WOTIF.

I was due to fly on 11 Oct but due to the recent floods in Thailand, I decided to postpone travel until March 2023.

I contacted WOTIF the week before my expected departure date and asked what my options were. They informed me that they would cancel the current booking/itinerary and issue me "Flight Credits"..... This did occur.

Today when I went to rebook the new dates in March 2023, I was informed by the WOTIF agent the I would need to pay an extra $600 (penalty fee) on top of what I've already paid.

At no stage prior to changing dates was I informed by WOTIF about the "Penalty Fee"

It should also be noted that the original price for the return flight was $1238.56 (paid in August). The price for the new dates I have selected is $1079.00, which is $159 less than the original booking and they're still asking me to pay another $600.

Is this the way they work????

I have reserved accommodation for 16-22 December. The Wotif system required a deposit, the amount of which was not declared prior to taking payment. I took a chance (foolishly in hindsight) and found the deposit was not the usual first nights accommodation but almost of third of the total charges). I now have conflicting emails: one from Wotif indicating balance due on check-in or check-out; the second email from VRBO host requiring balance by 18 November. This is obscene on at least three counts: a deposit that is more a part payment than a deposit; want of prior advice of the deposit amount; thirdly, the conflict. Obviously I have no intention of paying any more until at least check-in. Wotif chat only provided me with telephone contact numbers, the first of which was disconnected and then a number which corresponded to the 1800 help number which only dead-ends my calls. Anyone else have this problem? I am unable to find any contact number that gets me to a human, or any email address which responds.

The only contact I have been able to get is through their live chat which is equally unhelpful. You get some person in india who's job it is to lie to you and tell you and email be coming from their back of house. This email arrives 2 days later thanking you for your call and advising you that your problem has been fixed - which it never is. I now know this is an offshore company who does not play by Australian rules. You can't even get a tax invoice as they are not registered for GST. It seems you are learning the same lesson I did - they gave me two phone numbers on the chat both of which I rang while I was on there and they were both dead end numbers so they obviously give these out on purpose. When I questioned this I was told it must be a 'system error' and to try again later. I've tried numerous times with the same result. I'm sorry but I think they are a dodgy operator who is happy to take a lot of money from people with no responsibility afterwards. They should be illegal

Update. Someone genius from Wotif thought it was an answer to my query to telephone me at 12:01am last night and... terminate the call before I could answer from my sleep. They then had the gall to send an email (at 12:03am) telling me of their efforts and that their call went unanswered. Obviously I replied to the email advising that they not start their mischief with me and telephone during daylight in Australia and to keep trying until I answer. On the upside, found a VRBO support number that a human could be encouraged to answer. They are going to "follow it up and send it to the [appropriate] team". We shall see... At least I now have a VRBO case number and an email address (from the support agent). This doesn't however let Wotif off the hook for their failures.

Can someone please tell me what has happened to this Company and what to do. I was promised refund of hotel accommodation costs which I fully prepaid, and I cancelled mid July 2021 which was 1 month before arrival dates, within hotel cancellation policy. Even received refund receipt number from Wotif. BUT NEVER RECEIVED REFUND. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone,

We had same story as everyone else. My husband booked Sea world resort on 2 Aug for 2 nights to celebrate my birthday we even pay extra for free cancellation.

Brisbane got into lockdown on 1 Aug 11:00am. We immediately contacted Wotif staff ask what should we do is the best. The staff suggested us to cancel this booking so we can get refund of charge date.

We had to contact them to asked for follow up. They said we need to ask Sea World for refund approval. So we did contact SeaWorld, they said they Didn’t get any payment from Wotif because it’s canceled due to lockdown. We had talked to the online staff and they keep saying they had to refer us to the Special team. Won’t give us contact info for manger. Then now they told us they can’t contact Seaworld? WTH? They are clearly making excuses.

To see so many people got rip off. We are thinking to contact Current Affairs and ACCC. It’s too unfair!!

We booked through wotif for Thursday 1/07/2021. This booking was pay on day on Tuesday the funds were taken from our account before Townsville went into lockdown. We couldn’t go so rang the hotel who cancelled the booking and made it for Saturday night. But surprisingly we cannot get hold of anybody from wotif to tell us if we are getting a refund or what. And why the money was taken from our account 2 days prior to the original stay night. Can you please explain this all emails bounce back as well. Not happy at all.

Hi Wotif, why is is so hard to get hold of you to re-book my flights when through no fault of my own covid happened? I didn't receive a refund, only a credit. I will never be able to use the credit because Wotif is impossible to get hold of via non existent emails and hours long waits on the phone. What has happened to you Wotif, you were never like this pre-covid? I used to use you all the time now I wouldn't recommend you to anyone. You make it so imposable, we eventually give up and lose our money!
