From my understanding (I’ve built my home with ABC), you have fewer customisation options and limited variety in colours, bricks, etc. The quality is top notch and support is fantastic! Can’t go wrong!

Hi With all this Metricon cancelling fixed terms contracts in news , what is the way forward for ABC ? Are they also cancelling fixed terms contracts and forcing clients to sign new contracts with higher prices , its all in the news today .

Hi Sharina, thanks for your enquiry. Australian Building Company remains dedicated to fulfilling every valid contract in which a fixed price has been agreed. More than 90% of our customer contracts are proceeding without any significant complications.

A small percentage of our customers have experienced delays in acquiring their land title, construction approval, DA approval, finance approval, or other unforeseen interruptions that have affected project timelines, factors beyond the control of Australian Building Company. Consequently, their initial contract lapsed before the construction of their home could commence. We are actively engaging with these customers to collaboratively seek solutions before site works start, allowing them the opportunity to make necessary adjustments and achieve a contract price and home design that meets their satisfaction.

In the event that Australian Building Company enters into a new contract with these customers, any price increase from their original contract to the new one solely reflects the rise in material and labor costs. This measure is essential to ensure that we can responsibly and reliably complete all the homes we have committed to building across Australia this year.

Hi Neil, we have only just started the build, slab to be layed in the next couple of weeks, we did adjust the plan, bringing it down from a 4 bedroom to a 3 bedroom which then gave us a bigger main, larger walk in and bigger ensuite.

I have a question do you guys honour fixed price contracts as I have seen many builders are asking for more money, I know the fixed price is for 6 months and then you will charge 0.75% for another 6 months but would you hold this promise?

Hello, Mr. Muneeb. Yes, ABC HOMES/METRICON did honour their promise as we only had one price increase for materials 8 or so months after we signed the contract and before the build (building delay mainly due to council ). We always found the entire Team to be honest and easy to understand if there were any contract queries ( of which there were not many ).

I’m just a buyer but I’ve had a great experience so far. My price hold was due to run out in April. I was waiting on my land to register. It registered in January. Credit to metricon they got my contract sorted and ready for site start in the next two days which is mid to late Feb.

I have no doubt other builders would drag the process out just to reprice the contract.

Metricon has honored my price hold which screams integrity to me. I can’t wait for my house to be completed and can’t wait to build with Australian Building Company again.

I was wondering just how long it takes to get a decision made when you have raised an issue with the building process?It has been over 4 weeks now since I raised the issue of large water tanks being placed in the wrong location right in front of large living area windows blocking out my beautiful farm views.I am concerned that my request is getting the run around,with no-one being able to make a decision and inform me of what will take place.I just wish someone would say what needs to take place to rectify the problem.I have nearly 500 views of my current running review of the build(Curra,Qld,4570) process,with possibly many more people to view future updates of the build.Does it really take over one month to get an official response? Will I be waiting months for a response?Is this length of time normal for Metricon?

Hi Mark TBH, we didn’t have any issues throughout build. Was pretty smooth and fast. Our defect liability period is up tomorrow. Lets see if minor fixes on our list are attended to promptly. Sorry i can’t be of further help. Waiting a month for a response is pretty poor!! Keep on hassling them, they can’t avoid you forever! All the best

Hi Ruth G, Like you,I have no problem with their ability to build quickly and professionally.The problem I have is that the original drawing that was sent to the variation team of where water tanks were to be placed,was not adhered to.My question would then be,"Why did the variation team not place the water tanks as I requested,as per drawing that was sent to them?".It is mentally exhausting trying to understand why it is taking so long to get a possible solution of outcome from them.If only Metricon could respond as quickly as you Ruth,they would have at least one less frustrated customer

This is a joke whole this journey. we had pre site disaster and same saga continues during construction. Again with admin team. we had few error made by abc homes construction team. our site manager is happy to rectify but asked us to sign variation. This was on 10/9/21 when we were supposed to get variation so we can sign and build can go ahead. Since then building support coordinator responsible for sending us variation is avoiding our emails and not supplying variation. our site manger is saying he’s got nothing to do with admin team. He is saying u give me variation I will fix it. Now due to site manager and building coordinator ‘s internal drama our build is on hold at final stage. the worst part is if they not gonna reply to our emails or calls then we are given contact details in the first place.

Hi there,I paid a deposit (over $2000) to get a contract on a house built in Turnberry Chase, Curra,Qld over 7 weeks ago now, with no contract yet, and no answers as to when the contract will be completed, for me to view and possibly sign.I was told it "should be before 6 weeks". Spoke to a home advisor ( through the Metricon number)to be told my site manager would call me within 48 hours.Not even having signed a contract (because it is not ready yet),I was slightly puzzled as to why I would have a "site manager"?. Doesn't there have to be a contract, which is agreed upon and signed,before you are given a "site manager"? That site manager hasn't called me,it's been 5 days now?Is this normal? Also, the last 2 contracts I had for previous houses being built,were in my hands to view,agree and sign just after 4 weeks.It will be 8 weeks by the end of this week,if their is no contract.Surely that's not good for people thinking of building with your company,is it?The answer I have been given is "we are waiting for home sewerage treatment plant.Surely that can be done before 8 weeks.My other 2 homes that were built also had to have water and sewerage tanks,yet I got those contracts just after 4 weeks.I am very interested in a response, because if a am to spend a few hundred thousand dollars with your business,I would love to have confidence in doing that.Thanx Mark R.

Is it standard practice to get your customers to sign off to agreed total sum, only to come back with a final costing, showing additional cost, i.e. overhead power line clearance and manual material handling cost of over $10k difference!! This was given after commitment of deposit for soil testing and survey report. It’s left a sour taste in my mouth that can only be dispelled by cancelling this whole exercise and making this journey a very tumultuous one! From the beginning, possibly due to the fact that I’m building on my own land, the base line price has continuously slowly climbed skywards like a vine seeking the warmth of the sun. Not to mention my cost of developing the land and working tirelessly towards that process, has made my journey feel like an ant pushing a Boulder up hill! You can understand my ill feelings towards this process up to this point, when I thought an area which you guys had control over, suddenly lumps another $10k on my shoulders!!
