I have a joint ownership of a floating week at Beachcomber Coolangatta. My husband has just passed away, and I am retired on aged pension. I can't afford the fees and don't want to pass this to my family. Is the only way out of it to sell?

Hi I would like to know how to cancel my membership I’m a points & play member since 2002 and we are now retired and cannot afford the fees & do not use the points.
The holiday club gave us some fantastic holidays when our kids were younger we traveled overseas many times & were very happy with the quantity of the accommodation. It’s a great club for families with kids. But unfortunately we are just struggling now with cost of living & retirement and can no longer afford the fees or even the additional expenses of flying ect. But we certainly had some lovely trips away with accommodation all covered with our Classic points. We traveled to England, Europe, South Africa & USA plus some holidays within Australia. It’s great that you can save your point up for 3 years & then book a big multiple trip away & all accommodation is covered. This is how we did our big overseas trip.
I have now had a positive outcome with classic holidays they have been extremely helpful & have cancelled our membership. It’s a win-win situation & they were very professional & helpful. We are extremely happy with the outcome
Hi Tkmc, I would think you should just call up and cancel. I am also thinking of cancelling they don't have the deals they had before covid and there is plenty of other cheap holidays available
Hi Donna C, we have reached to you with a private message to obtain private information for a team member to be able to reach out. Many thanks, Classic Holidays
I purchased my Classic Escape Plan outright You never have suitable or many apartments available I have continued to pay my yearly fees but want to know how to not have these fees to pay
Hello Sherryl I am a floating week owner, purchased back in 1988. I have found that giving enough time to be able to book in advance is paramount to being well on the way to booking the time you want. This may mean paying levies etc well in advance, but if it works for you as it has for myself it's worth it Remember that through exchange companies the Classic group are open to bookings from around the world. Allan
I've owned a memebrship for many years and I enjoy using it however there is never any availability anywhere. I struggle all the time to find free dates at my home resort and when I bank it theres nothing available there or anywhere else, including interstate and international resorts, and then it goes unused and cancelled. Is there something I'm missing ?

G'day John, we're in the same boat. I tried to simply cancel the membership but they won't allow it as they say it's a managed investment. We have always been under the impression that it's a holiday club. Now I know it's simply a [Content Removed]. I wish you luck. Regards, John
Hi John, Yep we're in the same boat as John(who replied). I do believe classic has a hardship clause in your case. You'll need to contact classic directly(resolutions@classicholidays.com.au) & explain your situation. The other way you can do it is sell it on a timeshare brokers external link I wish you all the best. Classic is a [Content Removed].

Hi, I no longer have use for my membership and wish to cancel so I no longer need to pay annual payments. My husband has passed away who was the owner of the membership, I am just the primary. PLEASE help me in this matter. I have a life threatening illness and cannot afford to continue payments.
HI Claudia, we will reach out to you in a private message to obtain your membership number and contact information. Many thanks, regards Classic Holidays
I’m in the same boat I simply can’t afford the yearly fees it’s so expensive $1,159.00 for this year! We never use the club and paid $12,000 for it back in 2002….the fees just keep getting higher & higher. We are retired & it’s impossible to keep up the payments. Please can you help us solve this problem?
HI Tkmc, thank you for sharing your information, we have shared this with the relevant team who will be in contact with you. Many thanks.
I want to cancel my membership, I paid $10,000 years ago to be rid of paying an annual fee and now I am still paying one and am $10K down! I have never booked any accommodation through them as they have never suited my needs.
Hi Lee-Anne, we will send you a private message to obtain personal information so our team can reach out to you. Many thanks, Classic Holidays
hi how do I get out of this we have not used it for more than 10 yrs. we are now retired and rely only on the pension. Paying the $300 annual fee is a burden. I was told today that I can on sell through a broker. the way we feel about Classic Holidays morally it doesn't sit well with us to do this. We don't want any money we just want out.
Hi Elle, we will contact you via private message to obtain your member ID and best contact details. Many thanks Classic Holidays
Currently a member of the debacle points system after switching from weeks ownership, which was also at another ridiculous cost,so far over 20k. When does this crime end. How long is the points membership and when does it end. I was informed that when I switched from weeks to points my membership would end in ten years ?? Is this true. The reason for switching is to have an end to the entire criminal activity especially when retired now and can’t afford the ongoing yearly charges.
Hi Stan, we have sent you a private message requesting personal details so our resolutions team can contact you.
Did you get any sort of resolution Stan?
Like everyone else here, I am also trying to cancel my Classic Escapes membership. I have been told by Classic Holidays that that is not possible. They referred me to a Timeshare site, however because mine is not a timeshare membership, they were unable to help me. I am now trying to sell it, as I have only used it about 8 times in the past 14 years. It seems like no-one is interested in buying it. I don't want to keep paying the annual fee for something I don't use. I don't understand why the membership can't be cancelled. HOW DO I GET OUT OF IT?
HI Jane, we have sent you a private message requesting personal details so our resolutions team can contact you.
Any resolution Jane?
Hi I'm like multiple others am wanting to CANCELmy membership. I continuously find cheaper deals then ones offered and continuously try to book accommodation and nothing is available. I am over paying account keeping fees for a service that does not offer me what was promised. I cant access most of the deals on the website as I am required to pay an additional $350 which I find hilarious considering the amount of money I paid initially to be a member of this so called " discount holiday club" Natalie
Yeah its honestly crap the whole company is crap and should be looked into if they aren't already, When you cancel something it should be cancelled not brought into another few more years..
Good afternoon, we have reached out to both in private message to obtain further information so a member of our resolutions team can get in contact with you. Many thanks, regards Classic Holidays.
Hello, I am also looking into this as Classic Holidays have taken over the membership of my parents timeshare and they have enquire as to how to terminate their membership but we're told that Classic Holiday could transfer them from the 'weeks' plan to the 'points' plan if they paid $70k. They've been trying to get out for a number of years now. They have not been able to use any of the offers made by Classic, not have they been able to stay in the places they seek to travel. They are being forced to continue a membership after having the contract since 1988, they were not given an actual contract with the terms and conditions and were never explained the terms of the contract. They (and I) will be referring the matter to the office of fair trading/ombudsman within the next week.

Hi Ellen. when I asked them to cancel my membership they sent me a private message on how to cancel accommodation NOT the actual membership. No one has contacted me regarding cancelling my actual membership. I have tried multiple times over the years to cancel and Im still being charged for annual membership fees and still waiting for that email, phone call, message to talk about cancelling all together!
I , like others it appears have been endeavoring to cancel our Classic Holidays membership each year for almost 10 of the years we have been members. However, we have not been able to use any offers made by Classic, nor have been able to get assistance with destinations we have wanted to travel. The time has come to be coerced into paying the annual subscription for 2023. Let me repeat , I do not wish to continue our membership . I will be referring this matter to the Office of Fair Trading / Ombudsman next week . Regards Gaetana Falcone and Barry Waser. Area code - 2177

Good afternoon , I have placed a comment stating my grievance has been resolved. Trust you received our signed contract I mailed to you . , regards Paul
I have tried to cancel my membership for over 7 years to no avail , the company only wants money , we have not once utilised the company and where sucked in to a time share hoist which I asked about and they refuted it was a time share , now we are hassled to pay a membership or try sell a so called asset of membership I wish this could be resolved but will most likely go down the path of legal action . You have my details classic
Good morning seanburrow. We will reach out in a private message to request further details so our resolutions team can contact you.
I have been trying without success for a few years to find a way to cancel our Classic membership. We joined as points members in 2008 and since then our choices have greatly diminished to the point where nothing is as it was promoted and promised to us when we joined. As many others have already stated availability in NZ is non existent we have never been able to book anything , our choices in Australia that suited our families requirements were originally many and are now down to 1 option which I could actually book fir a lot cheaper and exactly when I would want it myself . We are being held hostage having to continue to pay yearly fees for a membership that can no longer deliver what we signed up for and no longer want. It is a large financial commitment that is we feel we are virtually being blackmailed into paying and are desperate to find a way to ensure that our children are not also held responsible in the future. People have mentioned gifting membership back to Classic has anyone actually done this? I tried talking to Classic last year and they basically didn’t want to know me I do not know where to turn. How can it be right that so many peoples lives are being consumed with the worry of this.
Hi, sorry to hear of your dismay. I have heard quite a few similar complaints as you are saying. I have been a long time Classic member. I own the original "weeks" membership. Classic' tried for many years to buy back all "weeks" in exchange for the points system when it was first introduced. They were not pushy at all but were wanting "us" to pay a considerable amount of cash to convert. There was no benefit in changing to points in my mind and all other "weeks" members obviously felt the same as me. We did not convert to points. As far as I know the points were a good system as there was flexibility with the many options to use the points. My "weeks" style has limited flexibilitu. I joined Classic' for all the extra's such as VIP vouchers, Bonus weeks and the access to world wide resorts through the exchange program. I have had 20 plus years of great holidaying at great prices, never any drama. I am sure members like yourself are disappointed with your purchase. I have never gone into the nitty gritty of "Points" membership. I am quite sure that I was told by Classic' that they are not allowed to buy back membership due to "insider trading" I think you should if you have not already contact ASIC to see if they can offer some advice around this. Cheers mste
Hi p.l.brookland, thank you for your comments, we understand a Consultant has been in contact to discuss your membership with you.
what is the process of cancelling membership. we dont want to be paying yearly account fee
Hi Dennis, please could you private message us with your membership number, and best contact email/phone and we will ensure to get a member of our team to contact you to discuss your options. Many thanks.
My father passed away recently and my mum contacted Classic Holidays to as if she could sell, donate, or cancel the membership and two different people said they couldn't do it. This is horrible and disgusting service which makes no sense. If the timeshare can't be sold back or donated we can live with that, but how can you not cancel the membership?
Hi Rikesh, we will reach out to you with a private message, for further information so that a member of our resolutions team can get in touch with you regarding your request.
