Hi Larry - unfortunately I do not think there is anything you can do. DWI will NOT repair (at their expense) or replace the faulty equipment. I learn't a valuable (and expensive) lesson...do not buy from this company!!! I have a very expensive paper weight now :(

Read around the forums... they do not have a great reputation when it comes to warranty. There are comments on here about it also.

Most of their devices do not come with an AUS plug, they include a universal to AUS adapter with the items though.

Hi John, I'm not entirely qualified to answer your questions in full as I've been very fortunate with the quality and delivery of my orders from DWI. I have yet had to engage with them with respect to warranty issues as once again, I have not faced any quality issues.

My only comment is to encourage care with your on-line camera purchase as the Canon is of considerable value (my own purchases have never exceeded $A1000 in a single transaction).

John just look at the number of positive reviews they have. Far more than the negatives. Then read some of the negative reviews. Many of them really just highlight the character of the person posting the review. Also consider that some of the negative reviewers are probably responsible for breakages etc, but panic over the financial loss and try to claim on warranty. Yes. Shock horror. That really does happen.

I’ve bought from this company before with no issue, and tomorrow I’ll be buying a $1400 lens tomorrow if it’s in stock.

Remember also that you have Consumer Affairs for assistance if you feel you need them. But don’t foolishly believe that Consumer Affairs will back you in a false warranty claim. They’re not silly either. Yes......DWI have roots in Australia and so are covered by Australian Consumer law.

FWIW, I suggest your read the negative reviews on this site to know what you are up against. Many of the positive reviews are fake in order to boost their rep and look legit. Good luck if you want any help from this company. One thing they are good at is taking your money. Oh, and be prepared to send the item back to Hong Kong (at your expense). No they are not in Australia like they want you to think.

Stick with a local Aussie company instead of sending your money to Hong Kong (speaking from experience), at least you know you'll be covered and treated in accordance to Australian Consumer Law (DWI couldn't give a toss about that).

FWIW is clearly ill-informed. DWI are an Australian company. Probably selling grey imports as well as authorised goods. Still, you’re covered by Australian consumer law, EXCEPT where you wreck your goods through stupidity or negligence and then foolishly think you can hoodwink the seller into covering it under warranty. Even Consumer Affairs aren’t silly. They know it happens.

As for the claim that “many positive reviews are fake”, well that’s just garbage. He clearly doesn’t know what steps ProductReview.com take to detect and prosecute companies that do that.

DWI is just one of their many fronts, they are wholly based in Hong Kong and have a satellite office here in Australia under the registered business name of ATECH Distribution. While they are bound by Australian Consumer Law they will do anything in their power to make your life miserable if you ever need to return anything as change of mind or for warranty. Their pricing is highly appealing which is why there are lots of happy customers and positive reviews. I guarantee these positive reviewers have never had to try and get support for one of their purchases though.

In House Warranty means you have to ship it back to them in China/Hong Kong. Your purchase doesn't come with Australian Warranty as they are not Authorized Australian Dealers. So if you have any issues with your purchase be prepared to send it back to Hong King and wait to get it back if you are lucky.

In house warranty means that the item is a grey import (Google grey imports), and so their is no manufacturer warranty here in Australia. DWI will have the item repaired at an independant, local repair centre under their in house warranty terms. In some cases, they may have to send it overseas for repairs. What are the chances of a warranty issue anyway? More chance of consumer negligence being a problem. Buy with confidence. Look after your goods. If you need to make a warranty claim, follow the instructions given by the seller and dont throw a tantrum or be abusive.

Probably. They usually undervalue the items when shipping to Australia to avoid them (and you) paying GST. Highly illegal but they'll do it anyway just to get it into the country. Items are shipped from Hong Kong just so you are aware.

@Micky22 Have you ever purchased from them? I have. Shipped from Hong Kong. They under declare the value of the goods shipped to Australia.Invoice doesn't even include a GST amount paid. Registered company here in Australia IS NOT even registered for GST : external link 

Illegal practise by said company avoiding GST. Get your facts straight before jumping in with you 2 cents worth when you clearly don't know what you're talking about..

It appears is the TA-1003 which I believe is the Global version.
