I have a screen where one side has come out of the track. Is this easily fixed? It is over a servery about 1200 high.
It's years later since some of these reviews. I am getting a quote next week. Can anyone honestly say 5 years plus down the line this product is still standing strong and in good condition?
we are right on 5 years - and having issues - when we asked about the warranty - told it is a 10 part that they will replace but the screen itself needs to be reset and this is not under warranty, so we have to pay over $600 to get that done.
Thanks!
How can I make my Freedom screen doors open. They stick, won't slide, won't open and are the worst product I have ever come across?
Dear Glenda, I'm very sorry you are having difficulty. Please phone 1300 727336 to get in touch with your nearest distributor for a service.
We have multiple Freedom Screens installed throughout the house and have never had any issues with them, However this morning I tried to open the Screen door and it no longer opens or retracts, there is nil issues i can see with the Track, I am in Banora Point 2486 any recommendations on a repairer? Thanks, Brett

Given these mesh type blinds are attached to the outer surface of balconies in high rise buildings, are they fireproof and approved for such use?
These screens are used quite often on balconies but the mesh used is not fire rated. Because the mesh needs to be able to retract into the housing metal mesh cannot be used as it is not flexible enough.

Hi I live in Newcastle. Can I have a rough estimate for a retractable fly screen that is 4.8m x 2.4m? Thank you.
Dear Deepthika,
Thank you for your enquiry. Could you please contact our Newcastle distributor, Daniel Ballaam, on 02 4388 1547. He would be happy to provide a quote and advice.

We need to replace two flyscreens in our house, but we need them to be removable once shutters have been installed. Can you advise please? Thanks Lesley
I doubt Freedom Screens would suit your needs. They are costly. They roll away into a cylinder on the side when not in use.
Hi Lesley, Our screens slide along tracks and into a side cassette completely out of the way. If you would like more information please phone 1300 727 336 for a distributor near you.
Hi, I'm looking to install a retractable Screen door and would like to know what sort of cost I'd be up for.. can anyone please advise approx costs??
Size of opening - approx. 220 cm high x 134cm wide
Thanks
Sorry Mark. I can't estimate the cost for you, but I can tell you that the Freedom screens we had installed still don't slide properly much of the time, despite regular maintenance. Evidently, they are not suited for coastal environments as salt corrodes the aluminium, but also the design is not conducive to reliable retraction, We are very disappointed in the product. The company did the right thing by discounting the cost of a major repair when the screen tore away at the bottom, but it is likely we will have further problems as they just don't slide smoothly.
Thank you.
Will take this into account when deciding...
Hi Mark,
Please check out the website external link for your nearest distributor who will be able to give you a price for your screen.
thank you
Hi I have the magnetic screens which are wonderful, they look and fit and work beautifully. However I have an issue with the actual screen mesh itself. The reason for installing screens on the home was so insects couldn't get in, however lots of mosquitos are able to get inside. On another of our houses the mosquitos don't get in and it's only cheap screen, but the actual screening seems to be smaller on our other house and does the job it's meant to do.
I would like the screens replaced with ones that actually will keep the insects out please. My dealings were with the fantastic man in Cairns. My email address to contact me about this is - [email address removed]
Hi there. Thanks for your message. I have forwarded your enquiry to our Cairns distributor who should be in contact soon. There are various meshes which can be used and I'm sure Chris will steer you in the right direction.
I have a pair of retractable, the mesh is loose and the door does not retract probably.
Would like to book for a service/repaid. My post code is 4215.

The lock rattles when attempting to unlock
I am in the Byron Bay Area can I fix this myself or will I need a technician?

Please contact your local distributor, Beau Blakemore, during business hours on 07 32866266 who will be able to sort this out for you.

Was quoted $1500 for a sliding door to be fitted with a zip line retractable screen. About double other companies.
Is the product is worth it ?
Hi Dave, I would say, look at the quality of the alternative(s) screens as well as Freedom Screens. These companies usually have local stockist with samples on site.
I hope this helps.
Dave, You could probably get a cheaper price out there. I suppose im a stickler for quality. The only small issue is the handle is a bit stiff but it loosens with use. The product over all is great when I don't want to use it, it just disappears in its casing as aposed to seeing an ugly screen door. Good Luck.
I am thinking of getting these screens to cover a triple stacker door. My question is are they pet friendly? We have a small dog who will most likely pounce at the screen at some stage. Do they scratch? Will they bend? Then what happens?
Hi Trishp. Our young grandchildren have run into our closed screens a number of times and they have not been damaged in any way, so they are pretty durable. If your dog ran into the screen occasionally I don’t think it would be a problem. The screens I have are PVC mesh but I don’t think they would stand up to too much scratching by your dog. I do remember from their brochure however, that their screens can be manufactured with a Pet Mesh.
I suggest that you talk with Freedom Screens (Kelly or Daniel) about your requirements. I found them very helpful when I was researching the screen that they eventually supplied.
Hope this helps
Regards

I guess you have gone ahead by now, but if any retractable screen can do it, the Freedom Zipline can from my research. We have two very energetic dogs, not big, and they literally bounce off it when they get too excited when someone comes home. Have had a friend whose dog managed to scratch a hole in the Pet-lite mesh, but that was when left alone with the main doors open! I guess there is only so much a fibreglass mesh can take. Not sure how much it cost but Freedom promptly arranged to re-mesh it - pretty impressive because on one of those pleated screens we once had, that was the end of it - start again from scratch (no pun intended).
We have Japanese Spitz, small lap dog. Four months after installation of our screen I watched the dog run into the screen accidentally. The whole base of the screen tore off.... about 20cm worth. Have been told not covered under warranty and will cost $550! The whole thing only cost $1,050. Not very strong with dogs at all.
thinking of getting one installed in melbourne for a timber 3 stack door... was quoted 1750$ and the sample they bought looks amazing.. is the price similar to what you guys paid?
yes in that range what happens is if you accept quote they come and do final measure and give you final figure, select the frame colour, mine is copper as i have cedar doors so it blends pay half then and balance on completion which was about 2.5 weeks
yes I would say that's prob about right. Ours was a servery window, so not quite the same, we also had the copper colour as we have the wooden frame and blends in really well
Thanks guys .. That helps .. I'm thinking of going ahead with it
I'm thinking of getting Freedom screens for my high rise apartment, has anyone on the Gold Coast done this recently? I have stepper doors & windows to screen. Just wondering what the Gold Coast reputation is like & if the screens were successful. Can anyone out there who has had this done please comment. Thanks Julie
I have had a very bad experience with this company when trying to have the braking system repaired while under warranty! Extremely rude and arrogant attitude where the warranty means absolutely nothing to them! If you refuse to pay the call out fee then the fee will just continue to increase ! Be prepared to fight it out or pay the hefty $150 call out fee!
Thank you for your very informative info. I constantly am hearing they are rude & arrogent & the after sales service is atrocious. $150 call out fee !!!??? I'll be only too happy to spend my money elsewhere.
Hello Julie,
I have had a couple good dealings with the Sydney office and was impressed by their service. Their product is really is great. I don't know about call out fees or costs for damage.
I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience btorsyd. Freedom Retractable Screens has a 5 year warranty on all parts. In the first year, all parts and labour are covered. After the first year parts, excluding mesh, are still supplied free of charge but, as is the case with most warranties, labour is not covered.
