Has anyone experienced a goog amount of noise reduction from neighbors barking dogs using 10 mms magnetite

Magnetite
Magnetite   DM

Hi Judy S., Thank you for your enquiry. Our retrofit double-glazing solution is designed to reduce the noise by up to 70%. Noise coming from the dog’s bark is typically intermittent noise (silent then noise then silent then noise…) This means that even if we block 50% of the noise which takes the edge off of the barking, you will still hear the dog bark as it interrupts the silence. The reduction may or may not be enough to give you the relief you are after as it all depends on the type of dog, the distance to the dog and your sensitivity to noise. We are happy to send our estimator to assess the situation for you and recommend the system that will best work for you if you like. Please give us a call on 02 9565 4070 for a free measure and quote. Kind Regards, the Magnetite team.

Will 10 mm magnetite keep out Loud barking dogs from close neighbors ?

Fred
Fred

Loud barking from close by???...I'd have to guess...no But...it wil be attenuated. Unfortunately noise that is meant to be annoying- doof doof, harley davidson bikes etc, are very difficult to block out because that kind of noise gets in through so many avenues...even vibrating roof tiles and then ceilings. So...it will reduce the sound but probably won't be able to stop it. Easier to stop the blasted dogs!!!

Hi,

Does anyone have any videos showing the difference of a busy road and using Magnetite to show the difference in noise? Or a place the videos are available.

Thanks

We are experiencing condensation on the inside of our bedroom windows, which are single panes in aluminium frames. We do not have a noise problem. Would Magnetite reduce the condensation? Peter

Magnetite
Magnetite   DM

Hi Peter, Thank you for your enquiry. Magnetite uses acrylic glazing which is a much better insulator than glass. As such Magnetite will help keep the temperature at the window more inline with the temperature in the room. This will, in most cases, reduce the amount of condensation that forms on the windows. There may some instances where there is a moisture problem in the home or very poor air movement within the home so some smaller rooms gather excessive moisture. In these cases there may still be a smaller amount of condensation that forms on very cold nights. I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions or if you would like someone to come and inspect the windows and your situation in greater detail. Kind Regards The Magnetite Team

anybody have experience with magnetite sound reduction for evaporative cooler?

Hershy

Hardly any mention of heat reduction in the reviews. Most of them praise the sound reducing quality of your product. My concern is heat from three large windows, one of them a bay window on a west-facing wall

Janene
Janene

Hi Hershy. We mainly installed Magnetite for noise reduction but with a west facing window and afternoon sun. There is also a definite significant reduction in the heat coming through our window. I used to close the blind and shutters on the window about 5pm and now I don’t need to.

I forgot to mention. A huge reduction in the cold coming through the window as well.

Does magnetite reduce condensation on windows? I have south facing windows and the condensation in the cold months is pretty bad

Hello,

Hope you can help

I have just moved into this new townhouse, everything works out fine for me, however there is one thing that my property is on the main road and it's very close to the tram line.

So whenever the tram and other vehicles drive pass, I can hear the noise from my room and the noise becomes more obvious at night. Also on a windy day, I can hear the wind howl violently upstairs where other windows are.

The windows in our townhouse are double glazed, but I am just wondering if there is anything else that can help to reduce and absorb the noise further, better.

Thank you

Darryl .S
Darryl .S

Even though you already have double glazing it will only reduce noise to around 20-30% due to the lack of air cavity between the two glazing(10-20mm). Recommended air cavity required for sound reduction is a minimum of 50mm up to and above 100mm. Basically the bigger the air cavity the more soundwaves get trapped between the two glazing. Also Acrylic can actually absorb more sound/vibration than glass so Magnetite will be better sound reduction than traditional double glazing and materials are recyclable making it more echo friendly. Optical Grade Acrylic is used which is a more pure form of Acrylic which doesn't go yellow after a while therefor the reason why it is a little costly (hence the saying you get what you pay for) but still much cheaper than traditional double glazing.

Can magnatite be installed if you have plantation shutters

Kostas Markou
Kostas Markou

Hi Rob, the answer depends on two distinct areas. 1) Are you looking to a) reduce Heat Transfer (outwards in the Winter and Inwards in the summer) b) reduce noise from the outside 2) How your Shutters have been installed?

are they within the window cove/cavity/opening or on the front of the window cove/cavity/opening?

my windows had internal window sills of approx 110mm which allowed for the Magnetite to be installed at the 50mm mark giving the 50mm gap between windo and magnetite and another 50mm of window sill.

if your plantation Shutters are on the inside of the home window sills and there is ample space between plantation Shutters and window then Go Go Go....

Thanks. Should work. I am purely wanting to reduce noise.

I have just moved into a house on a very busy street and my bedroom window is about 10m from the road and roundabout - which means not only is it traffic noise but vehicles slowing and taking off. The house is weatherboard and Im just wondering how anyone else with a weathboard house found Magentite for reducing noise? It it worth it?

Kanda Kongkan
Kanda Kongkan

Hi - it will help reducing some noises. The quote is free and they will come to your place to provide details and options with honest expectations based on your environment. There is no pressure for you to go with it. So you can determine whether is worth it or not.

Darryl .S
Darryl .S

It can reduce the noise by up to 70% through the windows itself. Other factors that may determine results are quality of roof insulation, floor insulation, wall insulation, air vents or even cracks in a wall. Anywhere air can seep through sound will too. Wholistic approach is best but yes Magnetite is very effective and has been tested under laboratory conditions through the national acoustics laboratory.

Duncan
Duncan

is it noise blocking or thermal or are they both combined?

Darryl .S
Darryl .S

Very effective for both by balancing the width of the air cavity.

It appears from people's replies that you can do one window at a time. I realize this is a more expensive way to do it so is there a percentage of doing one window compared to more than one that I could go by.

Terence Mccabe

Yes you can do one window at a time, Good idea to do one and check the result

Hi, all l would like to instal magnetite windows. How well would you recommend them for traffic noise blocking

SHARAD
SHARAD

Magnetite did a good job. The dB meter i had downloaded as an app recorded a drop from 55-60 dB to 30 -35 dB after installing Magnetite 4.5 mm. Low frequency noises from heavy vehicles , though, dampen less.

Check out the magnetite website for their videos All are fitted by magnet frames. The smaller windows you want to pop out regularly have a handle at the top, very quick and easy to gently pull toward you steading the bottom with your hand to lift out. The bigger ones also pop out the same way but with suction cups that are provided.
