anyone having battery issues with this car? the 12V keeps draining. told by an auto electrician it is due to the weakening of the hybrid battery which we need to replace! if you dont replace it the car wont work at all. Mercedes have no customer service anymore. couldn't care less. we have had electrical problems with the car since we bought it second hand in 2022 but they kept telling us no problem . since we used the 2 year extended warranty through a third party which Mercedes offered to us (which is useless don't buy it), we have discovered the truth and now Mercedes are ducking and weaving. have to says that we love this car, but Mercedes did not tell us that the hybrid battery only last 8 -10 years and it is now on the way out and we are still making leas payments! any help would be gratefully received. how do you replace the hybrid and what is the cost?

The digital Owners Manual has been installed in Polish, can it be erased from the Hard Drive and reinstalled in English? I have the installation discs and have tried to overpwrite it, but to no avail . I have directed my query directly to Mercedes Benz and although I have received acknowledgement of my enquiry, that's where it ends. Thanks

Install an app from the app store for phone and ipad and have a soft copy of the manual. Keep a paper copy in the car. Don’t worry about the digital one, very hard, inconvenience and slow to use.

So that's a 'no'? OK on the alternative, thanks

Benz's idea of economy for the ML350 is the stuff of imagination, fairy fluff, there's no way that a combination of city and country driving could get as low as they state. I've driven around 7,000km in my 2013 ML350, principally on country roads with about 20% of suburban travel, and there's no way that I can get consumption below 9.1l/100km. My last diesel was a 7L Touareg with similar properties, 176kw/550Nm, compared to the Benz 190kw/620Nm, with a 6 speed Aisin box and I achieved 6.8l/100 on a regular basis long distance country driving. The Benz is 100-odd kg lighter and with an extra gear in an inferior gearbox, so it should do better than what it does. However, compared to the Touareg, which I believe had it's axles welded directly to the body resulting in a dreadful ride experience, the air suspension in the Benz is like driving a feather mattress, so I'll forgive the fuel consumption. Of the five previous Benzs that I've owned, this one manages to keep a smile on my face. Is my fuel consumption excessive?

Does the timing chain need to perform replaced on the 2013 ml 250

Should I buy a 2013 ML350 blueefficiency petrol V6 with 210,000kms from private seller? Asking $29,000 but it is in excellent condition with full service history, with extra AMG pack and Designo pack.

I am worried about reliability, any thoughts? Can I get a warranty from anywhere? I know AMG air suspension can be changed to regular, which I would do immediately.

I currently have a 2007 Lexus RX400h at 290,000kms.

These models and that engine are excellent touring cars with one of the best comfort levels and rides on the road with standard suspension out there. The fuel consumption is reasonable for such a heavy car too. The equipment level is excellent and quality and everything is resilient and does not readily break. However, for reliability these cars need to be serviced on time and and properly. I have a 2011 model and the following issues have occurred and are common to these MLs and I would suggest the first point will make or break your desire to own onw: - they may have sorted this by 2013 but they have a significant turbo lag particularly from start which you can assist by adding an aftermarket device that remaps the accelerator computer function only. - they go through tires readily through weight and all wheel drive - less than 30K kilometres on mine; - the hand brake release handle on the lower dash evevtually parts compoany with the wire that it holds to release the parking brake. Hope this helps and good luck! Cheers Vic from Australia.

Guys I have recently bought a gle500e second hand with Mercedes warranty and 2 years left of the battery. When I charge the battery to 100% it goes from 100 to 60% within reversing from my garage to the street and goes to 15% within minutes of driving. The car is 2016 model by the way. Is this a warranty issue or it’s normal? Would like to hear comments from car owners if they had similar experience

Sounds good value, just make sure u get a warranty. I am looking at same car but for AU48K with 80K on clock. I am just a little worried about reliability, the timing chain and air suspensions are the common issues and would be very expensive to fix. Otherwise its a beautiful car

I have this exact model - drives beautifully - just so quiet and smooth. Never had any timing chain or air suspension problems.

Ensure the VALUE of the extended warranty. Dealers are prompt with their 'three year australia wide warranty Sir" ,just ensure which table of figures that they're referring to, table A isn't worth the paper it;s written on, you need Table D at least to make a warranty worthwhile. , $3500 per claim. This'll cost the dealer about $2000, so bear that in mind when you haggle

Its automatic. It will sense when it is required. Turn the light switch to manual.

I have 2016 model GLE350D. The car has just been serviced. During the service the mechanic discovered the front universal joint was leaking grease. This issue required the entire drive shaft to be replaced. Anyone else experience this? Total kilometres on the car is 33000.

Hi, from reading reviews here it seems that aircon issues are very common. My car 2018 GLE 500e Hybrid was all perfect until the aircon fan started making an awful sound. Took it in for a replacement fan which lasted maybe six weeks. Mercedes is now telling me that it has to make the sound as it cools the batteries and the electric motor . (Shame as I bought the car partly for its low road noise, now sounding like a diesel Ute ) Mercedes where we are is not at all interested in helping. My concerns are if I switch the aircon off it stops, but does that mean the battery will overheat now? Has anyone else experienced a similar problem or have a solution?

I'm in love with an ML350 2013 which has 40k on the clock. I'm not so sure if the car suits me or not because I may do a lot of city driving. Also, I don't want to be shocked with an engine light that the cost of fix can be a drama.

Appreciate honest advice. Rayan

It is very low km for this type of car. 7 years for 40k which roughly only 6k for a year or 15km a day. Not good for a diesel car. If the car is run on petrol it is maybe ok. This type of car is very expensive to fix. Go to the dealer, the cost starts with thousands. Everything will need to be fixed and replaced at some point. If you like this one, at least few thousands need to be set aside for maintenance and repair when time come.

Shocks provide dampening or rebound So if this is issue yes replace .. depends on previous use of vehicle Tyres are for grip and depending on profile offer different degrees of road noise, handling etc

I have a Mercedes GLE250d, 2017. Have had a smell come through the car 6 months ago, had the internal air conditioning filter replaced. The smell has returned (it's Spring now) and the dealer is charging me $500 to repair, saying it's not covered under warranty. They are replacing the internal and external filters as well as cleaning the whole system out. How is this normal for a car that is 2 years old and why is this not covered under Warranty?

If you car is within the warranty period, then, its a warranty repair.

Ive had to pay for it to have inside and outside air filters replaced (they are consumables) and for the liquid to destroy bacteria in the cats air con. I dont trust the dealership where I take my car, which is where I bought it from on the North side of Sydney. I wont be buying a Mercedes again, very poor service and they dont just service, they up sell is all. So disappointed with Mercedes. Their customer service sucks, honesty and integrity is questionable and care factor from service staff, once you drive away with the car, is zero.

This is a common problem with a lot of vehicles. It is caused by the carbon filter not allowing air to circulate after the vehicle is turned off. You can either open windows when the car is parked or turn the AC off a few minutes before you park up to dry out the AC element. I have taken the carbon filters out and left the outer filter in place. If you have the smell you should also take these carbon filters out a spray into the fan ( from the engine bay) with Glen 20, do not turn the fan on, just leave it sit for 12 hrs, this should kill the bacteria on the element. Hope this helps. Just remember the element ( looks like a heat exchanger. google it) gets wet and this is like leaving a wet towel in a locker if the air doesn't circulate.

Question for Mercedes Benz representatives: Why won't anyone at MB provide a genuine response to customer feedback? (or respond at all?) I have been told numerous times over the years that the problems I have presented are the 'first time' / 'they haven't had these issues before'... clearly that is untrue based on the content of the reports included in the reviews. Refer my review at which provides context: https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/a4d31e7a-b8ec-4cd0-90d4-ba28affeb7a5 Perhaps it is time to head down to the dealership on a weekend and seek some answers.

Hi, anyone with a 6 year old W164 model? I would like to hear if there were issues with it post warranty. And what the servicing costs might be. Thanks lots.

domie48
domie48

Hi dogbert, I have a W164 which is a 2005 model 320 CDI and I have had about 30 cars in my life so I had plenty of experience and this is the best car I have ever owned. It's now done 160,000 klm and the only issue I have had was with the stability control when censer in the front left wheel failed. It's so good on fuel, on long trips I get 8.5 to 9 litres per 100 k and around town about 10. It's so powerful and comfortable.

I just love to drive it. The servicing varies depending where you get it done. I like to have mine connected to the Mercedes Benz computer for accurate readouts so it cost me between $400 to $800 but that's about every 15,000 k.

If buying a secondhand one get it inspected independently.

Good luck.

Awesome car. I have an 08 ml320 cdi Other then filters, I only ever needed new glow plugs in mine as some had failed. If you find it taking longer to start on cold mornings, this is more then likely the issue. I replaced them my self for under $300.00, Thats the only issue since new. If you do glow plugs yourself be careful removing them as some my be seized (wd40 and warm engine req.) and too much torque on the spanner can $hear them off.
