We’ve had Prowler Proof screens and doors fitted for just over 5 years now but the Powder Coat is lifting and the frames are getting destroyed by salt build up. I clean every few months. We are located in Bayside Brisbane, approx 4km from water. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m concerned on the quality of the frames. This doesn’t seem right.
Hi Richard, Products in extreme environments 'within 10km of a coastline, being coastal/marine and subject to salt deposition, or heavy industrial areas' we recommend cleaning every 2 to 4 weeks, however, if you fill out our warranty form via the link below, one of our customer service team will be in contact to discuss.
Thank you! external link
Hello. Thanks for the prompt reply. I have filled out the warranty form and just submitted. Regards, Richard.
Thank you Richard, someone will be in touch shortly.
How do I remove my prowler proof sliding security doors ( so they do not get filled with dust during backyard excavation) and then be able to put them back on ?
Hi Peter Sliding security doors are fitted with an interlock on the back. That interlock should be fixed in place with security fasteners, so you may not be able to remove it yourself, as those drill bits are not generally available in retail outlets. If you give your original dealer a ring, they would be able to come out and assist you.
How are prowler proof forcefield for keeping out insects like midges
ForceField® uses a 0.8mm thick wire of 316 marine grade woven stainless steel. The openings in the mesh measure 1.5 mm x 1.6 mm – big enough for you to enjoy your view, small enough to keep just about all small creatures outside where they belong.
In environments prone to midges, if you want extra protection against these tiny insects, there is the option to order a Diamond design security screen with the micro mesh. Micro mesh is made from fibreglass gauze, the strands are 20x20 per 25mm2, with the openings in the mesh being just 0.94 mm x 0.94 mm.
What is the Prowler thickness of Aluminium compared to Crimsafe 316 stainless steel frame?
What is the best product to use in a seafront home
Hi Royden, All security screens on the market have aluminium frames. With regards to mesh types, 304 grade stainless steel wire mesh has less nickel and no molybdenum. 316 marine grade stainless steel mesh, which is what Prowler Proof uses on our ForceField product, has both nickel and molybdenum which offers far superior corrosion resistance. Essentially, the higher the grade of stainless steel, the better corrosion resistance.
With dissimilar metals, however, there is always a chance that you might have issues regarding corrosion, depending on the distance to seawater and the frequency of cleaning. If you haven’t already considered our Protec product, it has an aluminium frame and an aluminium perforated sheet, if you live seafront and don’t plan on sticking to a strict cleaning schedule, this might be worth your consideration. Hopefully, I have been able to answer your question, if you would like to discuss further, please don’t hesitate to contact us at the office on 07 3363 0666.
Regards, The team at Prowler Proof.
Hi, we have ProwlerProof Forcefield screens on louvre windows either side of our front entrance (French doors). Should these screens be removable as I cannot see anyway to remove them to clean cobwebs from inside. We can clean by putting hand through louvre gap but this is restrictive. Thanks, Brian.
Sorry Brian but If the screens were easily removed it would totally defeat the purpose of having security screens, which is the entire point of having them? I believe the only other way is that some louvred windows allow entire glass louvres to be removed therefore allowing better access for cleaning the screens.
Hi Brian The screens, if screwed on from the outside would have security fasteners, so you'd need a dealer to remove these for you as they use a restricted drill bit. If they're screwed in from the inside, then they may have used either security or regular fasteners. If they're regular fasteners, you may be able to undo and remove yourself.
Hi, thanks for the answer, but unfortunately there are no visible fasteners used, it is like the security mesh panel is contained within a u-shaped trim all the way around which itself is somehow fixed to the window frame. Must be some secret fastening system in play :-)
Does the prowler proof mesh keep out all insects? We are in a rural area and I need to be sure the mesh will withstand the onslaught of insects we get (some smaller than mosquitoes), in summer.
Prowler Proof offer a wide range of options for your security needs and depending on the product, the aperture (holes between the woven mesh) does vary. Although all of our products will keep most insects free from your home, micro mesh will keep most smaller insects at bay. Micro mesh is available on insect screen (fly mesh and not a security product), welded diamond, and Snaplock products.
What is the difference between Invisi-gard screen and Prowler Proof Forcefield screen?
Hi Lilian. They are both great systems. I hate to say it but I think prowler proof is better. I have no issues with the prowler proof products. Just the way this particular company treated a small company such as ours in a small rural town. Inviziguard is also a great product.
Hi Lilian, there are many features that make Prowler Proof unique. These include, that Prowler Proof features fully welded corners. Our screen and infill are joined together in a mechanical and chemical bond that is virtually unbreakable and provides complete insulation of the two metals, eliminating a major cause of corrosion. Prowler Proof has passed every conceivable test with flying colours and all test results are available on our website. These tests include Australian Security Standard testing, bushfire, corrosion, fall prevention, WERS energy and cyclone. You can see more of what makes us unique here external link Also, we highly encourage all purchasers of security screens to choose a member of the National Security Screen Association for their installation, ensure the dealer you go with is licensed correctly in their state, and that the product you select is marked with an Australian Standard compliance sticker. If you look for these three things, then you can be ensured of a quality product and a quality installation.
Hi, we had prowler proof diamond guard installed at our home just over a year ago. We were assured that the fibreglass mesh would still be a long lasting option over the aluminum mesh. However we are experiencing holes in the mesh in this short period, not all thr mesh just some of thrm. Is this something that Prowler Proof can repair or upgrade to aluminum mesh to last more than 1 year? I can assure you that we are not mistreating our screens to cause these holes and they are not in all the screens? Had I know the short lifespan I would have definately opted for the aluminum mesh.
Hi Csimpson Unfortunately the insect gauze is only covered by a 1 year warranty, from the gauze manufacturer themselves. That being the case though, it would still be worth contacting your original dealer and discussing directly with them. Do you still have their contact details? If not, if you let us know your product serial number we can look this up for you.
Is Prowler Proof pet proof? Could a dog or cat scratching damage the finish?
It’s very robust. Our dog regularly scratches it and never make a mark at all
HI,
I don't have a dog or a cat, so I can not accurately answer this question. It is one you would have to ask the manufacturer.
Regards Cheryl
Hi OnceBitten, Prowler Proof ForceField and Protec Products are resistant to scratching from cats and dogs. The cat or dog (especially larger breeds) may leave marks however the powder coat will not chip away. Marks left on ForceField screens will be less noticeable than on Protec screens. Any of our products that have fibreglass mesh however will NOT be resistant. In circumstances where fibreglass mesh is a standard option, it would be recommended to upgrade to Pet Proof Gauze.
Thank you,
The Prowler Proof Team
We renovated after installing our Prowler Proof screens. There is now alot of dust sitting inside the individual holes across most of our screens. A sponge and warm water is not getting inside the holes to remove the dust adequately...not sure how else to clean them though effectively. Can you provide some advice?
Hi Candice, Please refer to our care and maintenance guide for doors and windows: external link Using a soft brush such as a dustpan brush may be helpful in removing dust and dirt deposits, or even a microfibre cloth / Norwex car cloth (or similar). Use these in conjunction with mild household detergent or dishwashing liquid with water. Then rinse off with fresh water. Avoid using steel brushes or scourers that may permanently scratch the coating surface. Alternatively, you can use a hose to give them a good clean.
Thank you, The Prowler Proof Team
I have a 10 year old Prowler Proof sliding door that the back roller appears to have seized up and opening and closing the door is very difficult. Is it possible to get replacement rollers and instructions on how to repair the door myself or do you have recommended repairers I should contact?
Hi Alan, we will be able to help you with this. Could you please contact our customer service representatives on 07 3363 0666 or email info@prowlerproof.com.au with your number and postcode and we will contact you. Thank you.
Hi, I'm currently wanting to get either Prowler Proof or Invisiguard installed on all windows and doors. I need to understand the difference between them? Can you advise? thanks
Thank you for your enquiry. There are lots of differences between Prowler Proof and other security screen brands. All Prowler Proof screens are manufactured in our fully automated, PROBE world class rated factory. This means you know that your screens are produced to the same standard as the screens that undergo performance testing.
Prowler Proof is the only security screen brand to feature welded corners, not only making it stronger but also better looking.
Our screens are assembled with a heavy duty aluminium frame and 316 marine grade stainless steel mesh, joined together in a mechanical and chemical bond that is virtually unbreakable and provides complete insulation of the two metals, eliminating a major cause of corrosion in other security screen brands.
Prowler Proof ForceField and Protec are the only 'complete' security screens that have passed the 1,000 hour neutral salt spray test - most manufacturers only test the mesh. Prowler Proof ForceField and Protec have also passed the 1,000 hour acetic acid salt spray test. With a pH similar to vinegar, acetic acid salt spray is 10,000 times more acidic than neutral salt spray. ForceField's 316 marine grade stainless steel mesh has survived a 10,000 hour neutral salt spray test as well.
Prowler Proof is one of only 10 Qualicoat approved powder coating applicators in Australia, and the only security screen manufacturer.
All Prowler Proof product is covered by our 10 year replacement warranty. It's Australia's only replacement warranty and means you will get a brand new product, not a repair, if something goes wrong with your screen. We also have no strict cleaning regime to follow or any requirement for special cleaning solutions that you must use.
I hope this is of some assistance to you. Please let me know if you have any other queries.
Our grandson is a 6 y o. And he fell against the door and bent frame and it also fell out on the ground . It appears the rollers are broken. Could the manufacturer of prowler proof repair this door? As i could never trust it to be prowler proof again.we have windows and other sliding prowler proof sreens and doors.
Thanks for your questions, and for contacting our office yesterday Reggie.
As per our discussions yesterday, we have your original dealer scheduled in to visit you today and repair your door.
I'm sure they could. Cheers Muzzy
How is Prowler proof screens better than Crimsafe?
The actual screen material is probably identical but the critical thing is the surrounding frame which I feel Prowler Proof seems neater and less corrosion prone. Also their customer service is exceptional
