Can I transfer this insurance to tomorrows travelling for 6 days?
Jill
I got given some money recently from a claim but it's short of what it should be and there was absolutely no reference to it or the calculations. The only thing it said upon payment was "as per letter issued 29th Jan" which has NOT been issued as I have received absolutely nothing but via email or post. I have emailed straight back when this claim payment notification came through on the 31st and I have heard nothing at all so I am getting quite frustrated and angry now. I am glad for the payment, don't get me wrong (as it had been a long time of waiting over 7wks) but not when it's been calculated wrong and shortchanged without reference to me to clarify. It's a minimum of $70-80 short, if not more (depending on if an excess is charged and how much that is). This is bull, and I need someone to contact ME asap.
Hi Laudie, we can look into this, if you can please private message your claim number alternatively call us on 133 723
I don't know how to private message you. I have emailed and recently got another letter sent which again is only the front page confirming the amount t paid, referring to "the next page" for a breakdown but there was only one page sent. So now I replied again only yesterday and now have been told I have to wait yet another 10 days for a responce! Not good enough. Travel claim 619469
I have paid for UK trip on my ANZ Visa. This entitles us to free travel insurance with QBE. Is this safe???
Hi Judith, providing you have met the eligibility criteria for complimentary travel insurance, then you are covered per the PDS that can be found here - external link Enjoy your trip! ~BLS
Only if you have time, patience and are happy to wait months for the resolution of any claim you may make.
I booked jetstar flights for my 3 family members and I last year and managed to obtain the tickets very cheaply, as they are non refundable and can be changed unless I pay a lot of money to do so.
We now can't take the trip because my husband lost his job and now has a new job, which means he can not take annual leave.
I purchased the dates on my anz visa, so have travel insurance.
Am I able to make a claim for these flights with the reason being because of my husband unfortunately not being able to take annual now?
Hi, and thanks for your question. Given the number of factors involved in eligibility for certain cards, we can't answer your question directly here, but recommend submitting a claim via external link so one of our claims officers can assess if you're covered or any additional information you might need to provide to determine this.
If you look at all the other complaints and the hoops you have to go thru with providing multiple copies of proof and information, I would say, don’t bother as you will be given the run around without compensation. Save yourself the pain and frustration. I also have paid for my upcoming holiday with my NAB credit card, but after reading the horror stories, I will in future change credit card provider as there are other better deals around.
We have complimentary travel insurance with QBE. What are the pre existing medical conditions NOT covered? I have been searching but can't find the list.
Thanks
Hi Stephen, information regarding existing medical conditions can be found in the PDS which can be downloaded from external link
Hi! Im with NAB Credit card and im travalling to America. I'm led to believe as i brought my air tickets on my credit card i'm eligible for travel insurance with QBE is this correct and what do i have to do
Hi Sharon, yes that is correct. Your plan is activated if: (a) You are a NAB cardholder; and (b) Prior to the commencement of your overseas journey, you have paid a minimum of $500 in pre-paid overseas transport costs (including travel by air, rail, road or watercraft); and or accommodation costs; and/or organised land tour costs all of which are inclusive of any charges, fees and or taxes (excluding foreign currency and traveller’s cheques) with your NAB Card; and
(c) Transacted in the following ways:
- If using your NAB Credit Card – purchases using your credit card facility directly charged by the merchant; or
- If using your NAB Gold Visa Debit Card – purchases using your debit card either by using the physical card or by providing the debit card number when paying for your purchases. Purchases using the linked account without the use of the debit card (e.g. by direct credit from your NAB Internet Banking facility, PayPal, BPay or Secure Pay or any other payment facility) will not be covered.
Have a great trip!
Dont trust this company. Our trip was cancelled by the airline due to a mechanical Problem with the plane and 2 months later we are still trying to get our money back. Please dont go to America without proper insurance.
I wish i had seen this site before i travelled.
Hello QBE. Just to clarify your response - if I'm using my appropriate NAB CREDIT CARD - and for example book a flight online, I should put my credit card details directly into the airline's payment page to qualify for travel insurance? If say, I want to pay by PayPal for example, and PayPal accesses the same NAB CREDIT card - would I qualify for travel insurance or not? Thank you.
Took out insurance when holiday was booked 9 months ago - put down Asthma as an existing condition. Since then I have developed another condition and I am told I won't be covered for anything that might happen relating to that - I thought I may have to pay an extra amount of premium - but was told no - that I just need to pray nothing goes wrong. Amazing! What am I to do now ???
Take out a policy with another insurance company if you can.
They wouldn't let me cancel the policy either -
Hi - I have had a medical problem since taking out international travel insurance which was not evident before I was issued with the Certificate of Insurance. If something comes up in relation to this am I still fully covered under all the terms of the policy?
Hi Wendy, the answer will depend on a few factors, it will be easier to have a conversation with one of our agents to help with the specifics. We will PM you for a number to contact ~BLS
Hi QBE. Is there a pre-existing cover fee payable after the $45 online application fee is paid. Thanks
Hi Sez78, there is no additional pre-existing cover fee other than the $45 online application fee ~BLS
I have a St George Visa Amplify Platinum card and have prepaid accommodation costs for my upcoming holiday, valued over $500. This card is not listed in the product disclosure statement, only an Amplify signature credit card, however the St George website lists this card as being covered. Can you clarify if this card is covered or advise a contact number I can call to get this clarification.
Also, does the policy cover for missing any connecting flights or missing delayed flights
Hi Lyn, you can contact us here: external link to answer your queries.
Hi Lyn, the Amplify Platinum Credit Card is listed on page 4 of PDS QM70850615. We'd be happy to supply a copy of the PDS, and you can call our service team on 1300 555 017 to discuss any coverage questions you may have
I will be travelling to HK soon and will use my Westpac Black Card for Travel Insurance...who in turn use QBE.
I have had my Prostate out some 4 years ago and todate my PSA has been Nil. There are no other issues.
Am I automatically Covered?
Hi Paul, This would be considered an existing medical condition. You can apply to us to provide cover for a pre-existing medical condition(s) by contacting us before you depart on a journey: 1) on 1800 091 710 Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm AEST, or
2) by completing an online assessment at external link
If we agree to cover all or part of your pre-existing medical condition(s) you must pay us a A$75 administration fee for application by phone or A$45 for online applications. We will then send you confirmation which sets out:
1. the pre-existing medical condition we have agreed to cover;
2. the period the cover is provided for; and
3. any special conditions or exclusions which apply to the cover.
I hold a pletinum Visa card. Went for 8 days overseas. Saw the doctor overseas. Diagnosis was acute bronchitis. Out of 8 days I may be well only one day. What claims I can make? rose
Hi Rose, there are a lot of variables that will determine what you can claim, including which bank your card is with. We recommend contacting our travel team on 1300 555 017 to discuss it ~BLS
I will be 84 next September and intend to travel to Treasure Island, Fiji in December this year. I hold an ANZ Platinum Debit Card - will I be covered for travel insurance?
Hi, unfortunately the activation of the ANZ Platinum Debit Card Travel Insurance is limited to those eighty (80) years of age or under on the day you activated cover.
Are there ANY QBE claims consultants based in Australia? If so, what is the contact number? Also, when does the QBE Travel Platinum Credit Card contract expire with NAB?
Hi Louise, yes, there are some claims consultants based in Australia. We can arrange for a specialist to contact you if you like to answer your queries. For privacy reasons, we ask that you either email us at socialmedia@qbe.com, alternatively private message us on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/QBEInsuranceAustralia) with your policy number and/or claim number. ~SS
Hi, I'm travelling to Bali soon and have the QBE insurance through the ANZ platinum frequent flyer credit card. Would we be covered if by any chance there were volcanic ash cloud? Would it cover new accommodation, meals ... ect thanks.
Hi Anna, I have held Platinum Mastercard, Visa and Amex for over 15 years with NAB that uses QBE as their free OS insurer. I have submitted one claim for approx $Au800.00 when I had a tooth absess..dealing with them was a nightmare and almost not worth the time.....eventhough I eventually received compensation. They have a policy of mistruths and losing documentation so make sure you triple copy everything. Also, make sure you call your bank and obtain a contact if you need to claim.....a personal contact within ANZ will help immensely if you need to claim. Overall, I think QBE shouldn't represent ANY bank let alone PLATINUM CARD HOLDERS. Good luck...hopefully you won't need to deal with them. Call them and ask them to verify (in writing) if your covered for volcanic ash incidence ..... they won't guarantee I'm sure.
Regards,
L

Hi Anna, the coverage for ANZ premium credit card holders is as follows: If you have already activated cover when the event occurred, and You are overseas and affected There is provision to cover the following:
a. Additional costs from changes to travel plans including accommodation, food and transport expenses if your pre-paid scheduled public transport services or pre-paid tour have been cancelled or restricted because of an ash cloud.
You are yet to depart:
There is provision to cover the following:
a. Amendment costs or cancellation fees if your scheduled flight was cancelled or delayed due to an ash cloud. There is provision to claim cancellation costs or additional costs to defer or reschedule, provided the additional cost is not greater than the cancellation fees or lost deposits which would have been incurred had the trip been cancelled.
What happens if you activate your cover after the event has occurred?
There is no cover in this case, as it is not an unkown event at the time of activation.
Hello QBE - I note your response to this question regarding ash cloud says "if you have activated your cover" Anna says she is accessing the travel insurance which comes with her Credit Card. What do you mean by "activate your cover" in this case? Do you mean she must have purchased the fares/accom etc with the card? Or is there something else that triggers "activating the cover"? Thank you.
Hello QBE, I am in the same situation as Anna. If I choose to go tomorrow as scheduled, would I be covered if another eruption occurred whilst in Bali and I couldn't get home etc.?
I am traveling to Africa next year and was concerned to see that you denied a claim made by a client for cancellation of booking due to the unexpected death of their 80 year old mother. Can you outline the policy on this issue as many of us have elderly well parents who whilst older are not expected to die in the 3 weeks we are away?
Hi Maggiemoo, given we have a number of different types of travel policies, details may differ depending which type you are looking at. We recommend reviewing it on external link , or giving one of our consultants a call on 133723
I travelled to Asia in July 2016 and contracted Dengue Fever. My doctor here in Australia has indicated that I am now immune to one of the four strains of Dengue fever common in the tropical regions..
Medically I have fully recovered from the illness.
I can still contract one of the other three strains from a mosquito bite so the question is . Would I be insured for Dengue in the future or would the underwriter deem the event as a pre existing illness.?
Thanks
Hi Harry, yes, this would be classified as a pre-existing medical condition. ~Ben
Ben Thanks for the reply although I'm at a loss to understand your response. ill rephrase my question. Would QBE deny another dengue claim if I was unfortunate to be bitten by another dengue infected mosquito.
In simplistic terms a mosquito is required to cause the illness . A reoccurrence from the initial infection is zero as you in fact become immune.
Given the high worldwide incidence of Dengue a more detailed response might be more appropriate from the underwriters.

I
Have to make a claim for our to trip to Vanuatu, which was cancelled due to the recent cyclone. I'm trying to submit the claim form online, which was going ok until I started to upload the supporting documents. Some would, others wouldn't. Left it until the next day to go back and try again but now I can't even get past the first page of the claim form. Phoned QBE to get advise and was told I will have to start the claim all over again!!!! They can't access it!!! It has taken me hours to get this point. AARRGGHH!!! Asked if this has happened to any other customer and he said yes (great!). Any advise, or should I just print the form out and fill out with a pen????
I'd print out and resend. Hope they came through for you
Get the pen out....but photocopy EVERYTHING. They'll tell you they haven't received your documentation ....then, yes they have. Their standard excuse for non-response is either you haven't given them your correct mailing address AND/OR an incorrect email address. You WILL call out of total frustration of NOT hearing from them; you will then have the joy of the COMPLETE run around......Joseph, Manual and their colleagues are just waiting to speak with you, without ANY resolve. I believe they are NOT totally incompetent; from my experience I can only conclude they are "trained" to wear you down.......for a small amount you'll just give up. TRUST ME, $800.00 WASN'T GOING TO CHANGE MY LIFE, HOWEVER THEIR INCOMPETENCE/DISHONESTY MADE ME MORE RESILIENT. If you have "free" travel insurance through a bank Credit Card then make sure you complain to the relevant area of your bank. QBE is insuring NAB and ANZ Platinum card holders for travel cover........then doing everything in their power to avoid payment. I did eventually receive my $800.00 after months of calls; I ended up calling QBE Melbourne emergency overseas line......was put through to their Australian claims desk. Good Luck and remember, QBE is ONLY there to take your money!! L
I am about to make a QBE Travel insurance claim, lets see how I go with QBE Travel Insurance...
I travelled to Bali, rolled my ankle to point where it was too difficult to walk freely, so need to go home early then desired.
I have read the reviews of QBE Travel insurance, its 50/50 on good and bad reviews.
I have everything in place with proof of travel and injury. So there should be no dramas! Right?
Let's hope the claim goes well. They charge more than most so they should pay up. Good luck with the claim:-)
Hopefully you will be ok, make sure you have a letter from the Doctor you saw & were advised to go home early, as I feel they may reject the claim unless you have supporting evidence you were unable to continue, and it was not just a choice you made , good luck
If you were intoxicated or under the influence of drugs at the time of injury, they won't pay you a cent.
I'm sure they will look after you.
After 3 months and emails and phone calls, QBE paid most of my claim. I rate them 7.5/10.
