Can you use with any vet or are there restrictions

Judy
Judy

Hi Diane, I’m sure you can use whichever vet service you choose as far as I know there are no restrictions. Over the years I have used several different vet clinics when I have moved and never had any problems with my pet insurance. Kind regards Judy.

Australian Seniors
Australian Seniors   DM

Hi Diane, Thank you for reaching out with your query. On page 27 of our Policy booklet, it states Vet means any veterinarian, veterinary specialist, animal hospital, animal clinic, or animal surgery, other than yourself, who is licensed in and currently registered in Australia.

In terms of restrictions, we will not pay for Vet Expenses incurred by you during the Policy Period for any amount if you or your Pet live permanently outside of Australia and any benefit where the Pet has been or is going to be out of Australia for a period of more than 60 consecutive days. Please visit page 29 if you would like to learn more about our additional benefits, external link  .

We also offer GapOnly for our customers. GapOnly allows your vet to lodge a claim and it can be assessed online in approximately 10 minutes. Once this has been processed and approved, you simply pay the gap, being the difference between the vet's invoice and the claim benefit under your policy and go.

You can contact your current vet and ask if they offer GapOnly, or you can locate any participating vet practice in your area on the GapOnly website: external link

If you have any further queries, please call us on 1300 674 590, Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, AEST.

Kind regards, Scott

Hi. I was interested in getting pet insurance. I have read the pds but i would just wondering if you could help me out?

1) my dog has eaten a chicken bone but didn't suffer any major problems. ie: surgery. She just got an upset stomach. If she ate something sinister and needed emergency surgery for foreign body; will it still be covered even though she ate a bone in this year? again, didn't need surgery, vet checked her stomach and no blockage.

2) she has gotten blood tests this year. Would this count as a pre-condition if she needed another one? Will it be covered?

3) I thought she was walking funny but the vet checked her knees and they were fine. Is this. Considered pre existing condition?

My cat has pre-existing condition (bladder infection) but it hasn't happened more than 12 month. He has nothing problem about health now. Can he take an insurance ? and also , Will its pre-existing be covered by insurance in the future? He is still 4years old.

Australian Seniors
Australian Seniors   DM

Hi Kazu, Thank you for reaching out to us with your query. Our insurance policies are designed to give you peace of mind, knowing your pet is covered, should the unexpected happen. A pre-existing condition as defined within our Policy Booklet is; if any condition existed or occurred prior to the commencement date of the first policy period or within any applicable waiting period, and you or your vet were aware of the condition, or a reasonable person in your circumstances would have been aware of the condition, then it may be considered to be a pre-existing condition and excluded from cover. This is the case, irrespective of whether the underlying or causative condition was diagnosed at the time. Whether it is a pre-existing condition will depend on its nature and experience. If your pet has a temporary condition that has not existed, occurred or shown noticeable signs, symptoms or an abnormality in the 18-month period immediately prior to your claim treatment date, it will no longer be excluded from cover as a pre-existing condition. Chronic Conditions and several other specified Conditions cannot fall within this category. I would be happy to have someone have a second look at this for you, if you would like to private message me your policy number and contact details. If you would like to discuss cover for you cat further, please do not hesitate to send me a private message noting your contact details. Kind regards, Jessica

Hi John It depends on the age of your pet. My last dog was 8yrs when I insured him and it cost $46/fortnight. I made quite a few claims as he was quite sick and his premiums went up to $53/ fortnight. Now I have a puppy and it costs $29/fortnight. When you make a claim the refund is with in the week usually.

Hi None. Initially I did an online search to see what was available with regard to what companies had pet insurance. From this I looked at what options were available with regard to type of care that was covered. eg Policy limit, routine care, emergency boarding fees, paralysis tick treatment, cruciate ligament limit, consultation fee limit, what is the age limit for cover(this is very important as many policies cease when your dog is 9 years old). I rang and got a quote from a couple of places and ended up going with Seniors Pet Insurance but you have to be 50+hrs old. I have found their service to be excellent. I don't have cat insurance so I can't comment on this. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me,

Regards,

Lyn
