Personally I wouldn't tow a van over 2700kg with a Rexton. I think the 3500 kg is a big ask for the size of the motor and tranmission. 19/20 is not an issue as long as the weight is around the 2700kg mark. I'm a diesel mechanic by trade and a bit old school, so some might say my opinion is a bit conservative. Tread your own path. Cheers

I have a 2023 Rexton and I tow a 3 tonne off road van with it. While I have only done 45000 klm and most of that with the van attached I cannot fault the performance of the Rexton as a tow vehicle. I previously towed the same van with a 2014 Isuzu D Max (about 200,000 van klms never got out of fourth gear while towing at 100kph) I honestly feel this car does a better job. Yes the motor is smaller but the eight speed transmission has us sitting on 100 kph in eighth gear at less than 2000 rpm. I have fitted air bags and I use a Hayman Reese Weight Distribution Hitch. Averaging 16 to 17 litres per 100 klm with the van on so as good as the D Max on fuel. Go for a drive this is a great car.

SteveWWI live in the UK and have a Buccaneer Bermuda caravan that I have towed all over the UK with my Diesel 2019 Rexton Ultimate Y400. I have done about 20,000 miles towing this van and my previous van, a Buccaneer Commodore. I also towed the previous van with a Volvo XC90, the Y400 knocks the spot of it.

That's a bit tricky .....I assume you are still under warranty it being a 2018 car. ? Let's take the last issue first being the occasional flashing brake lights when indicator turned on. I assume that if you have had it checked by Auto sparky then he has confirmed you do not need an auxiliary relay. ....sometimes on more modern vehicles they require an intermediary relay to isolate the trailer electrics from the vehicle electrics. Check you do not need one or confirm one is fitted.

Next the first question ....in short I do not know. Warranty issue perhaps. ?? Could be a glitch with your brake relay module ...I am not fully familiar with the later models. I presume that you have had a diagnostic via the cars computer and that no error codes show up. ???

It is recommended that fluids are replaced at routine intervals ..check your handbook for intervals. Also you can go to your garage mechanic and get the fluid checked for quality eg water contaminants etc.

Could be the handbrake. Basically you will have to check every sensor which can affect the beeper. Any check engine light on ? Any 4wd check lights on?

Hello Rita,, try disconnecting you Battery for about three or four minutes then reconnect it should re set itself ,,, it works for my 2006 model on faulty sensors ,,hoping it works for you ,,,

Hi Not sure if your beep has gone away. If you have a nudge bar fitted this could be your problem. We had the same problem with our 2014 Rexton W. But we had intermittent beep noise It was the chrome nudge bar setting off the front parking sensors all the time. Replaced with a brushed alloy bar that Ssangyong sourced from New Zealand Ssangyong (as not available in Australia)

Also DEALER will say “NEVER heard of this problem” which is not true. Ask them to contact Grant Brackenbury who was National service Manager for Ateco (Ssangyong distributor in Australia). He now manages Maserati for Ateco (just a step up from Ssangyong ha!)

Hi...need a bit more of the background ...is the car stationary , off road, on diet or tarmac ....I suggest you take it to a tyre check place they will soon tell you what's going on ...if anything.

That was my concern when I first got it but because initially there is no power on front wheels and due to the mercedes full lock wheel lean, it does not straighten as in small cars. But to be on the safe side I should warn that the lower ball joint in the front wheel should be replaced (both of them) every third or fourth service since it can pop out with no warning and this can result in loss of the wheel and maybe expensive repairs to the steering rack power connections. I learned the hard way cause the dealers told me about this (factory recommendations are 50000km) only after my wheel came off... Lucky me I m fully insured but after 4000$ of repairs Its been four years now with no problems.

It's quite normal. There are quite a few (new) car reviews that mention the Rexton's steering reluctance to self centre. The main reason is the overly enthusiastic power assisted steering, which is an Asian market preference. I've got a 2014 Rexton with 90,000 km on it now that I have had from new - it's always done it and always will.

*Edit* Take your car to a good wheel alignment joint (I recommend ExactAlign) I took mine in because it had scrubbed the passenger side front tyre out. The technician told me that the car had never been set up correctly from day one, that the camber was the exact reverse of what it is meant to be. And hey presto, mine now self centres as well as any other car I have ever owned.

So this has not improved on "W" ... This is the stupid inside light sensor that cannot be turned of and the tech of the display itself is ancient. Just bare with it put it in AUTO and forget ;)
