Address is 44 Gerrale Drv Willowvale We are up high on a hill with views to the coast. Just had ADSL disconnected as hopeless so looking at the unlimited 4g wireless option. I was wondering if we have a clear line of site to the coast, and my son does a lot of gaming online, will this be a good option? Mick [number remove]

Can anyone please tell me what coverage & download times are like in Devon Park, Adelaide?

Duke777
Duke777

Eve, if you can get internet coverage on your mobile then good chance that Vivid Wireless will work just fine. Especially so if you are on the Optus network.

You people should consider yourselves very lucky to have 1Mb /sec downloads. I live 5 km from Perth CBD and get no better than 0.4Mb / sec. Marginally faster than dial up in 1990.

Any reason why I shouldn't dump Vivid wireless?

Damo
Damo

I was in the same boat. I eventually got an anaysim data card and put it in an Optus 4g unit from Kmart. 100Gb. $70 pm . speeds 20 mbs. Sorted.

Chanaka w

Just a question about the portability of the modem. Is it totally portable? Can I take it anywhere as long as there is 4G? Optus salesperson told me it’s limited to the house! Is this true?

Ash
Ash

Hi Chanaka, yes the modem is totally portable. We took the modem with us on a trip and it worked everywhere across Victoria and New South Wales. it just uses Optus signals, which is at most places across the country. Hope this helps :) Feel free to use my referal code for 1 month free!

Mark
Mark

it is unfortunately limited to the house. this is the whole reason for my review, they choked its potential. look around on sites like whirlpool for portable wireless for better deals. hope this helps.

Mark
Mark

I dont know what Ash is talking about. i am leaving because they are NOT portable. trust me i tried. they used to be portable, so maybe ash is a old customer from before optus brought it and made it useless?

Is it normal for Vividwirless download speeds to fluctuate greatly from one moment to the next? I can do a speed test and get 11Mbps DL and immediately do the test again and get 1Mbps. I may expect this during peak times but I have performed this test at all hours of the day including before 5:00am. Is this normal or is there something wrong with my connection? If normal can somebody explain why please? Thanks

SPok
SPok

In short, that isn't normal. I find that their standard router isn't great when handling anything more than 3 wireless devices connected at once, perhaps getting a better router may help. At least that's my setup. Also check to see if it's the same server you're running the subsequent speedtests. Hope that helps

Ender
Ender

This really depends on what you consider as normal. Yes, their speed may fluctuate, which is normal for Vividwireless, but not normal from the point of view of the user.

Renee M
Renee M

Liam did you end up getting Vivid Wireless? I'm in Canningvale also and are over our ridiculously slow adsl speed. today got a huge 0.46 download speed!! Does your Vivid work well?

Damo
Damo

If you don't use more than 100gb per month grab an Optus 4g modem from Kmart for about fifty dollars and get an Amaysim data only SIM card for $70 per 28 days. Job done and speeds about 20mbps . And your internet can move with you.

Poyda
Poyda

Dont waste your $$$ with Vividwireless. Speed will be ok for approx first month then will drop off. (so many complaints of this happening) Like so many providers, they dont purchase enough bandwidth to service their customers adequately.

Is anyone using Vivid Wireless in Upwey Vic? Any news to report? Im looking into it after having multiple speed issues with on ADSL with both Telstra and Optus.

Andrie Peyper
Andrie Peyper

If the Vividwireless website indicates the service is available at your address I would recommend getting a used modem off ebay or borrow a friend's modem for a trial run. It worked well for me in Sydney and the Vividwireless service is actually excellent with no lock in contracts but you can't be sure until you try so I see your dilemma.

Just bear in mind they count uploads and downloads towards your quota so I signed up for unlimited.

Gomez
Gomez

Vivid Wireless's site does suggest I am illegible for both connection plans. However I was after some feedback from someone who had the service in the area. User reviews tend to be a bit more unbiased.

It can go anywhere there is 4G Optus coverage, but I believe it has to be plugged in at all times for power.

Hi, just wanted to know what are the actual down/up speeds and is the service reliable as I have been reading mixed reviews? I do not have adsl and NBN

Tom
Tom

6.68 Mbps download 1.09 Mbps upload Just did speed test. After a week and a half of no service or admission of issues the called to say there was no issues and it was just us and surprise surprise it worked again all of a sudden. We were told Optus caused issues to the network then they changed their mind and said there were none at all and their customer service is useless. However when it does work it's able to support two mobile devices and stream Netflix or Stan etc

hellodaniel
hellodaniel

I read mixed reviews, too. We get a consistent 10Mbps down and 1Mbps up, which is the cap. Been working solidly for a couple of weeks now, no outages or speed drops. Reliability of service would depend entirely on 4G Optus coverage.

This is so much better than our ADSL was (0.5-1.5 down / 0.2 up). We've tried Telstra and TPG over 2 years with a half dozen technicians coming out but the exchange is 3km away and wiring in the building isn't the best. With NBN nowhere in site for at least 2-3 years this has been a great fit for us.

Hy, is anyone using vivid wireless data modem in Hurstville, NSW,2220?

Lucy Van P
Lucy Van P

Its easy to check if you are in range. Just go to the Vivid wireless site and look for coverage, type in your location and it will let you know whether its available. i checked for it already for you and it said Hurstville, NSW is covered. You may just want to phone them for further info. i have found their customer service is better than any other.

Is any one using the vivid wireless data modem in the Greenvale, Mickleham area

Lucy Van P
Lucy Van P

Just type your location on the Vivid site under "coverage." or its not a problem to phone them, unlike other companies you wont be on hold forever. The customer service is good.

Hi,just wondering is this good to watch streaming live tv and movies on line?

simonl
simonl

Yes it is great for netflix, foxtel play, stan, the free movie sites and youtube and all the tv channels and you can watch all of them at the same time with no buffering the other service I had was forever buffering I don't want bad mouth them though as they were cheap and good to me hope that helps.

mark

My experience is that it streams very well with Netflix HD, YouTube Stan etc. Even with one bar it would stream. From reading the reviews you will either love it like me or hate it.

Hi there anyone using in the Dee Why Beach area? Really interested. I'm a heavy user - I stream most of my TV so it needs to be able to cope with Netflix and Stan and YouTube etc.

Thanks!

Actually I got it and so far no buffering. It's been consistently strong.

SonD - I'm on Dee Why beach. What speed are you getting? My Telstra is only getting 3.8Mb download and I am looking to switch to Vivid Wireless. I bought it today but the Modem was dud and I need to return it. So far I can see it is consistently on 2 bar out of 3 in 4G signal strength. Would you recommend it over ADSL2+?

SonD
SonD

I get 3 bars - at DY beach. I get speeds average around 7.5 - 8. Can go up to 10. Drops to around 3 - 2.5 during busy times. Don't seem to suffer from buffering for the most part.
