Ascent Footwear Questions & Answers
VerifiedI'd like to know what the difference is between the kids Ascent Cluster 2 and 3, and also between the Cluster and Sustain models, thanks
Hi Shaz, Thanks for your query. The Cluster 3 is a new improved model with the latest materials available. Both shoes include a stability wedge to support the feet during sideways movement, whilst the multi-directional tread provides suitable stopping force in all directions. A Crib Midfoot Stabiliser ensures increased support and stability for developing feet whilst the Perpetual Rubber Outsole provides excellent traction, enhanced durability and longevity. The upper of the Cluster is full leather, whereas the Sustain includes part mesh in the upper area. Thanks,
Hi years ago I purchased my work boots ascent alpha 2. Very comfortable & lasted forever so when I needed a new pair, naturally I bought the same! However this pair was quite different. Still comfortable but the sole has split in 2. Rivets for the laces have come away. Is there a business that repairs? Do I now expect a years wear to be the norm? Brad
Hi Brad , I am now on my 4th pair since original purchase of this brand in 2019 . All soles have split in two . Don't even last 12 months anymore. Mark
I have read that the country of manufacture has changed.. this might explain why this brand has gone from excellent to poor quality...
Hi , Do Ascent Alpha 2 safety boot have any know concerns ? Have noted a couple of sole concerns on here . What would be considered normal working life of boot ? Am wanting a lace/zip up style safety boot .
Are these shoes steel capped Ascent Contest (4e) Mens Black
No they're not.
Is there any that are steel capped for warehousing
Gday
Just wondering how long the boots have been made in Vietnam for ? I recently bought a new pair and noticed it. My old pair roughly 3 years old, I swore they were made in aus
Thanks
Hi Peter, Our shoes have been produced overseas (such as our Vietnam manufacturers) for over 20 years from when our company began in 2001. We work closely with their teams to ensure that the product is developed to our standards and in line with our designs. If you have any issues with your shoes, please feel free to email us so that we can communicate this back to them.
hope no problems I just bought some today
Hi. What is the warranty on Alpha 2 workboots? I bought a pair less then 6 months ago, both boots now have cracks the whole way across the sole right through to the inner sole. Would this be covered under warranty?
Hi Graampy, please contact us via email info@ascentfootwear.com.au to discuss this further.
Why am I reading that ascent are very poor responders in replacement and refunds when a customer purchases an inferior product and are not apologising at all for their mistakes? There is a serial theme here
Hi, We work with our customers who have bought direct from our website should they require a refund or replacement. When they login to their account they are able to easily return and request a refund or replacement on a case by case basis. Should they have bought from a retailer, they are asked to return the shoes to them and the retailer will start the returns process through the correct channels.
If I take a women's size 10 in Australia what size ascent groove slider womens should I get
Hi Kim,
US sizing is the same as Australian sizing so a 10 women's US will suit you in our Groove range.

What are the difference between Ascent Contest and contest 4E.' Also I want to know difference between Ascent zest and citizen. I am suffering from Achilles tendinitis and will use custom built orthotic (sole) in shoes. Thanks. khurshed.nabi@gmail.com
Hi, The Contest has two available widths, in D and 4E, with the 4E option being a wider fit. The Zest and Citizen do have similar technology, the difference is mainly in design. However, the Zest does have our slip-resistant Diamond Grip outsole and DRILEX Lining, as well as unique stability features.
All our shoes are orthotic friendly.
Hope this helps!

Can you please tell me where your accent things are made please
My boots are made in Vietnam I would post you a photo of proof but doesn’t look like I’m able to. Sorry.
Hi Trish,
Thank you for your inquiry!
We are a born and bred Australian company, all our shoes are designed in-house and then manufactured in Vietnam.
Let us know if you need any more information.
Kind regards, Team Ascent
Thankyou would prefer Australian made however it looks as I have no choice
Hi. I love my Ascent Apex Max 3. They would be the most comfortable work shoe I have purchased. Unfortunately, my foot is spreading with age. Could you please tell me how I can purchase a 2E or 4E width in a US Size11. Thank you.
Hi, Thank you so much for the lovely feedback, we're so glad the Apex Max 3 has helped support you! The only options we have in those widths are Apex 2E, Apex 4E, Geelong 4E, Contest 4E, Vision 2E. Geelong and Apex would also be good options.
You can find these styles on our website here: external link
Hi. My son tried a pair of Junior apex max 3 shoes on in a size 6.5(US) E width today. I am looking for the same shoe online & can only see a 2E width - is this the same shoe?

I would like to know the difference between Ascent Cluster Jnr and the Sustain range. Is there more stability in one - made differently etc?
The Sustain Jnr is an update to the old Cluster Jnr model. It features a more streamline midsole and is more flexible in the forefoot.
hi ascent, i have just purchased a pair of Avara shoes and the left one has a painful crease across the top of the shoe when pressure is applied. I have only purchased these today so will these wear in or will i need to return them for another style?
Hi Elise The shoe certainly shouldn't feel painful out of the box. I would suggest taking them back in to store to assess the shoe and check the size.
Thanks, I did take them back today and they were a half size too small and we felt there was a minor defect with one of the shoes. Half a size bigger made all the difference and they are wonderful.
Are the soles anti static in the ascent avara ladies shoes?
Hi Mandy
The Avara is not an antistatic shoe.
Regards
Team Ascent
Does any of the ascent work shoes provide as much support and motion control as the brooks beast.? I did go to an athlete's foot store but they couldn't find any.
Hi, Thanks for your question. Yes we have a number of workboots that provide support and motion control through the use of mid foot stabiliser and firm thermoplastic heel counters. It you are looking for a model with a high degree of torsional support I would recommend the following style: external link .
Hi, I have gone through a few pairs of the Sigma work boots in a size USM 10, my last pair being the SKU#11743 (4E) in a USM size 10 - each pair has fit perfectly and was super comfortable instantly...
I recently got a pair of the Alpha 2 SKU #129467 (4E) also in a USM size 10 and they are a smaller shoe on my foot and the composit caps gave me blisters after a day's wear. I gave it a week and tried again with the same result.
I spoke to the General manager about this and he assured me that both shoes were made from the same mould and were egsactly the same size...
I have phoned all the stockists within an hours drive from my home with the hopes of trying on some other sizes, but couldn't find anyone who had the sizes I wanted to try on.
My question is: what is the next step? My overal disappoint derived mainly from the conversation I had with the sales manager would prompt me to place the boots in a charity bin and try another brand :(
Hi, As noted in previous email communication the Alpha 2 zip boot is made on a completely different platform than your old Sigma slip on boot hence the reason the size you have chosen doesn't fit you. Because your employer has supplied the boot to you they would have need to communicate this with their supplier to arrange a replacement/exchange.
Hi, I apologise for my previous mis communication, but I have also had a pair of the previous version of the Alpha zip boots. These were also a (4E) US size 10. The Alpha 2 is a smaller boot that the previous Alpha model.
My employer made contact with the place of purchase and was told that they could not be exchanged as the boots had been worn.
I am currently on my 4th pair of Ascent work boots. I generally get about 18 months out of a pair. My latest pair is 2 months old and the sole on one boot has split. Can I get them replaced?
Hi Werner, Yes the problem you have described would be covered under warranty. Can you please take them back to your place of purchase and they will arrange for the boots to be replaced.
do the ascent mens shoes accommodate orthotics?
Yes, Our complete range of footwear is orthotic friendly.
