Do you remove plastic inserts?
So sorry, Peter! I had the Dux professional install the unit. Wouldn't be able to answer
Hi Peter,
Thanks for raising your question.
The plastic inserts that you see are the ends of the internal plumbing, they remain there and your plumber screws their fittings into them.

Hi Does anyone know what the energy efficiency of the 315L unit is like? Has anyone noticed an increase in electricity bill after installation? Is this the old style electric storage tank that always keeps the water continuously heated? Thx
Hi there, We'd be happy to assist you with your question. The energy efficiency is measured by the amount of heat loss in a 24hr period. The Dux 315T136 is 2.72kW/24hr, the Rheem 491315 is 2.92kW/24hr, making the Dux more energy efficient.
These figures are publicly available on the Federal Government's Energy rating website: external link

Do you need to remove the plastic insert's in ports before pluming?
Suggest you contact DUX at: help@dux.com.au
The plastic inserts are there to prevent entry of foreign objects before installation. They should be removed just before connection.
Hi Rassie, The plastic inserts are part of the internal plumbing of the unit, they are not removed. The plumber simply screws the nipple into the socket and in turn the nipple screws into the plastic, this is a part of the product design. The plumber still uses their normal sealing methods on the nipple.
