After reading the Fairmont home reviews, why are your builds taking so long when I am seeing other builders complete homes in half the time. Makes me want to consider going elsewhere even though I really like one of your designs
Do not build with this company come to moonta bay and look at the mess of unfinished homes one is mine
I am reading so many poor reviews. It gives us, the potential customer, no confidence regarding due diligence expected from a Company who quotes: “We build quality homes at affordable prices. Quality is never sacrificed at Fairmont Homes”. The customer/end result is always correct. I would like to know, where is the accountability? I am interested as to why Fairmont have not responded here. It’s Fairmont’s obligation to provide answers. Their reputation is at stake.
We have built with fairmont twice now and have got a great home(not perfect) for a great price. Last time was 5vyears ago. However it seems from reading reviews that standards have slipped. However you will likely struggle to find another builder who can price match them. It's a terrible time to build with materials increasing and a shortage of trades. I know so many trades eg carpenters, tilers, electricians etc... who won't work for builders anymore because they can get private work and charge what they like. So builders are caught between a rock and a hard place. They pay all the trades more and add another 50k to the price of the house and are you the home owner going to be ok with that? You are lucky to even get a builder to get back to you at the moment. They are short staffed, and don't really need the work as they are likely behind with jobs anyway.
Thankyou for your in-depth reply. Perhaps Fairmont shouldn’t be signing up new Customers if they can’t handle the backlog. Too, many reviewers state issues with little communication, lack of care with the build including due diligence. These aspects have nothing to do with short supply of tradies and products. I’m glad you’ve had a fair experience though sad that so many others haven’t.
In my experience, the arrogance and behaviours of some staff shows me they could benefit with some education & training in Australian Contract Law

Hi,
What are the incentives given to the reviewers for their review?
Movie tickets nothing else
Hi Drew, thank you for your query, Confirming we provide a double movie pass as a thank you to our clients for reviewing their experience with us. Kind regards, Fairmont Homes
Thanks for the information. Who doesn't love the movies.
How long after the final builders interview should building commence?
Hi Vanessa, thank you for your query. The time frame for this varies from home to home. Some clients will complete their final builder's interview and their file will be programmed to our construction team immediately after the appointment for commencement. Other clients will complete their interview and receive a list of items that are required to be completed before the file can progress to construction. In this case, the file will proceed to construction for commencement after the final item on the list is received. Some of these items include (but are not limited to) finance approval, land settlement, demolition of an existing home, council approval etc. I hope this has assisted with you query. Should you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us in our office on 8112 3112 or clientliaison@fairmonthomes.com.au Kind regards, Fairmont Homes
Well our final builders interview was 5 months ago and all we have so far is a slab. Now we have been told it will still take another year to build!!!! Not getting clear answers from any one. Very disappointing experience so far!!!
Hi Vanessa, We would like to follow this up for you and assist with an update. Can you please forward your job details to clientliaison@fairmonthomes.com.au. We will then be able to assist in providing further information. Kind regards, Fairmont Homes
Our frame is half way finished 2 months after the slab was laid. We were told that our build was a priority and that it was going to be fast tracked due to all of our delays. Still being told that the finishing date is September 2020! Really??? Very frustrated customer!!!!
Good afternoon Vanessa, Our build times vary depending on your property type, size, inclusions etc. Given your home is 2 storey the construction time is longer. September is your anticipated practical completion date in line with your contract. We will always work to complete a home as soon as possible however it is a little too early in the build to advise whether completion will occur before the anticipated time frame advised. As discussed with our client liaison in construction, we can confirm your frame work is now complete, roof cover will be completed in the coming days & a window installer has been allocated. Our client liaison will continue to keep in touch regarding progress. Kind regards, Fairmont Homes
September still seems very slow. Considering that our final builders interview was 7 months ago???? Just frustrated that we were told it would take at the longest 9 months for a two storey house??
Hi Vanessa, The time frame from final builders interview to commencement on site varies from home to home. It depends how far advanced a file is when you attend your interview and what items may remain outstanding after the appointment. For this reason, the build time is calculated from the slab pour date as per your contract terms. We would love to keep you updated on progress of your home and will be in touch at major milestones of the build to provide an update, however, should you have any queries or would like any updates between please do not hesitate to contact our construction team in the office on 8112 3112. Kind regards, Fairmont Homes
Well our slab was laid in September. So does it take a year to build a house that is supposedly being fast tracked????
Hi Vanessa, we are working to have the home completed as soon as possible. The date provided is the completion date as per your contract. Should you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me directly on clientliaison@fairmonthomes.com.au Kind regards, Lisa, Fairmont Homes
We have no recollection of being told that the completion date was September. We would not have signed the contracts if we were told that date. Aside from that it still should not take over a year to build our house. Some thing is seriously wrong here. We have made a payment for our roofing which hasn’t even been completed???? We were also told that the windows and brick work was going to be installed before Xmas?? We are so frustrated. Can we have some clear answers please? Regards Vanessa
???
Good morning Vanessa, we are sorry to hear of your frustration. As per email communication with our client liaison, we feel it may be best we arrange a time for you to attend our office to speak with a Manager regarding your home. We look forward to meeting with you to work through your concerns. Kind regards, Fairmont Homes
As we both work full time we are unable to come in. We just need a more realistic date for handover due to us having to organise the sale of our house which is a priority for us. I am sure you can appreciate the fact that it can take months to organise the sale of property and we need a clearer date so that we can try to get it all happening at the same time. I am sure that it won’t take another 8 months as previously stated to finish??
Regards Vanessa
Please can we have an answer??
Good Afternoon Vanessa, thank you for your email. It is unfortunate that you are not able to accept our invitation to speak with our General Manager, regarding your concerns. I have received current site progress information and will contact you by telephone shortly to discuss. Kind Regards, Laura
We are still waiting for answers to questions we asked our site manager 2 weeks ago. Keep ringing and doesn’t answer the phone. Contacted head office and still no answers????
Good afternoon Vanessa, thank you for your email. I have spoken to your site manager regarding your queries. As the request is outside of our contracted work our site manager is required to look in to this further to see if we can assist. He is currently doing this and will be in touch as soon as possible. Kind regards,, Fairmont Homes
I have tried to email our contact at Fairmont twice with no reply. Still haven’t her from our site foreman for over a month after asking him to call back. Our site it a total mess with our neighbors complaining to us about rubbish blowing into their yards. Asked over a week a ago for it to be cleaned up. Once again nothing has happened. What is going on. Please please can we have some answers?????
Good Afternoon Vanessa, we have sent a response to you on your private email. Kind Regards, Fairmont Homes Group.
Not good enough! All we have been told is to wait til next week. It’s been 2 weeks since anyone has been on site. We were told our eaves were being done this week?? Hasn’t happened. We were told our build was being fast tracked. Hasn’t happened. Our site manager was supposed to call back a month ago. Hasn’t happened. We have begged for answers. Hasn’t happened. We are paying two mortgages plus bills on a house that we can’t even live in. All we want is straight answers and action, not false promises and delays. We are so stressed and upset every day that nothing is happening. We were so excited when we started this process, but now we are just so disappointed that we even considered that this would end up like this. Please please can something be done to speed up the process. Please????
It’s now been 4 weeks with no one on site????
Good Morning Vanessa, Thankyou for your email. After speaking with your Site Manager, an email was sent to you yesterday with site progress information. I believe you have received it ? We will continue to provide weekly updates and keep you informed of all site progress. Kind Regards, Fairmont Homes Group.
Sounds exactly like our build with Fairmont. No straight answers, always excuses for delays, same answer every time in regards to the outrageous “expected completion date”. Paid our deposit to the builder almost 2 years ago and still not ready. Salesman told us 6 weeks for selections and approx 4 months build which was obviously a complete lie to get us to sign the contract.
Embarrassing when I have 2 other friends that have managed to complete the whole process with different builders in less than 6 months total for similar sized houses
Thank you for your email John, it is unfortunate that our communications with you have not been to your satisfaction. If you could please call our head office on 8112 3112 or email reception@fairmonthomes.com.au We would be more than happy to work through any ongoing concerns you have. Regards, Fairmont Homes Group Pty Ltd
Hi John, yes we have had a friend who’s house started after ours and they have been in there now for 2 months. Yes it is embarrassing when people ask about how the house is going, and they just think it’s a joke. I know exactly how you feel.
And the delays just keep going!!’! We were told at our first meeting with Fairmont homes that we would be in our house last Xmas. Haha. Hopefully we get in there before this Xmas!
Good Afternoon Vanessa, thank you for your message. We take on board all feedback and ask you to please refer to your private email. A response was sent to your partner this afternoon. We will continue to provide site updates as they become available. Kind Regards, Fairmont Homes Group Pty Ltd
I am beginning to wish that I had read this review site first and not listen to the recommendations of friends. Communication is poor . I hope that you have finally got your build done.
Hello im wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on there process as i am finding this extremely slow ?
Its been 3 weeks now since we went to a consultant with an already drawn plan and he was able to give us a quote back with a few days with absolutely everything we need included... now since then we have got absolutely nowhere i havent even had a chance to sign a contract to start to process of a soil report ?
Is this normal to always be chasing them so early on ?
Hi Amy, It is absolutely normal with Fairmonthomes to have such a lag during sales process. I had similar experience with two of their sales person, finally i had complaint to their head office thinking to let them know of situation in ground. At that stage i had thought to leave Fairmonthomes and go ahead with some other builder in market. While researching market i found that fairmonthomes is giving reasonably good quality home and other builders in market too praise them and consider them as reference for quality. This lead me to reconsider them as my choice, in response to my complaint Fairmonthomes allocated me another consultant Mr Graham Barn who had helped me out to finalise the plan and sign agreement.
It took me around 2 weeks to finally sign the contract as i need to proof read, since after signing it is hard to change things. I got my site survey and Soiltest reports done within a week time and got my Soil report in 4 weeks time. Fairmonthomes was very quick in putting up application with council and getting the job done. In just 8 weeks after soil report i got all my approvals from council. Now i am just waiting for demolition from Royal Salvage in order to further progress in project.
Fairmonthomes is very poor in customer service, the attitude of the people it quite lame. I am keeping my figures cross for quality, that i can only say once things are done. I am hiring a independent inspector for quality of work. Hope to get good result at the end.
I would appreciate to put your feedback in product review once you sign up, this will give consumer a voice.
I think my frustration leads back to before signing up as we originally were going through a different building company had our soil tested and on a dead flat block unbelievably had a footings fee of $50,000 ! After speaking with Fairmont and a few other builders all was shocked and assured us it was way over what it should be.
So after 8 weeks of waiting we are back to square one in hopes Fairmont look after us alot better !
I will happily update my experience as the process goes on and i look forward to reading yours !
Thank you very much for responding to my question much appreciated!
Hi Arun your reviews are very helpful. Can we talk. I have few questions. Thanks Amit
.
I can highly recommend fairmont homes they were such smooth sailing other than the paper work being a slow process the build flys by
Why are alot of nails coming out of the ceilings of my house?
Hi W.T, Is there any acknowledgment by Fairmonthomes for nails you mentioned in your question. What was your response when you raised it with them. Have you raised it with anyone else than supervisor.
I am asking you this as i am also in process of building with FH, sometimes it is quite scary seeing people's review, let's how things will workout at end. I had contacted Lisa in customer service from FH when i had a very poor experience with Direct interior during selection process. Although there is not visible response since 2 weeks of registering concern still i am waiting the any action.
If you have time please write review and your experience on product review. This is one of the tool for the customers to influence on long run.
Thanks for your time to read my response.
Anyone building with fairmont how do we get them to communicate and not be rude when we ask questions
Disee, what is progress of your home with FH. I too had experienced poor communication while sales process but communicating to there management had resolved the issues. Although i had to keep petitions during that process.
We found fairmont extremely good just the final selection interview a disaster. We asked abput things listed in contract and where told opposite. Eg. Is a power point for tank supplied as not shown on electrial diagram yes was the answer. When talking too job supervisor no you have this system no p.p. many ecamles of this. As for rest of proccess they where terrific just office staff dont know there own product
