Do you compare the rates and fees to other banks?
I did and do compare rates. In my instance, I had mammoth loans spread across 2 institutions. Homestar provided the best deal to refinance as I already had a relationship with them. However the process was quite long, I think due to requirements arising out of the Royal Commission.
Could you remember who helped you out? As I am asking rate comparison with them and they are not doing anything. Just dragging their feet.

It’s on their website? You’ll see a few different types of loans available. There’s a number you can call and usually you will get some one initially from a call centre to answer these simple questions but I’m not sure myself what you are asking?

Hi Homestar. I am just wondering if I was too eager to provide my positive feedback recently. I have reached out to your team for fixed term rates on my loans. That was on 20 July 2022. Having worked for banks in past, my experience dictates that the rates data should be readily and immediately availble for the customers upon request. I am quite disappointed that as of today, I have not received a response. Upon calling your customer service on the 1300 number this afternoon, I was informed that new fixed term rates were currently under review by your management. When I requested for the fixed term rates on 20/7/22, I expected to be given the rates that was currently in effect as at 20/7/22 and not what is currently being reviewed. I was advised today that the rates were being reviewed by your management (reiterating) and once available, it would be made available to me. Looking at the current financial climate on interest rates, RBA has been hiking rates and the lenders are following suit. So now Homestar is stalling their response to me on the fixed term rates. Is this because Homestar can charge me a higher interest rate? Is this practice ethical and legal? I wonder what ASIC/APRA will have to say about this.
Hi kamlesh chand, the way market is almost every bank fixed rates are in 4.5% or above. Taking on fixed rates were a thing for 2021, when almost every bank had rates were 2ish or 1.8ish. What homestar did ASIC/APRA won't care about that, as it's not illegal. Hope your issue is resolved.

Is your home loan process fully digital / online (eg. using DocuSign or similar to complete all the paperwork) like other Banks or is physical presence still required?

Hi Pavel, At Homestar Finance our home loan application process is fully digital. We send our clients a link to a secured portal where they can upload the documentation that we require. Once clients sign in to the secured portal, it will provide us consent to complete the credit report and valuation of the property. Physical presence is no longer required.

You are the only online bank that I am aware that doesn't offer this. I like you guys overall but this is very frustrating for your customers. Hi Dennis C., Please see our answers below: 1. Homestar has a Mobile App project for both Android and Apple on our roadmap 2. Outgoing transfers are not currently instantaneous (via Osko or the like) and go through the standard inter-bank process. This is a project on our roadmap to offer our customers 3. Homestar has no ATM fees when using a bank ATM. The usage of other ATM's (e.g. in clubs or sporting venues) may incur an ATM Owner's fee and this is displayed on the screen of the ATM at the time of the withdraw being made. This fee is not a Homestar fee.
