We are looking into using impact homes through a broker who used them and after reading all the comments I’m bot so sure we should go through with it..using Charles Knight group who have specific people that they use

We did the exact same thing using Charles Knight. I would strongly advise against doing it if possible. The builder used is terrible and you will have nothing but issues later down the track. The landscaping they say is included is an absolute farce and they would be better off not touching the yard. They take shortcuts and find the cheapest Band-Aid solution possible. No underlay before turfing they slap the cheapest grass they can find on the surface built on. And there is rubbish everywhere, my kids are still cutting their feet on builders rubbish in the ground 3 years later. Fencing is not done right and that’s if they even do it all in the first place, existing fencing will be left even if it’s old wooden panels and falling apart.

I certainly would never go near Impact or privium homes whatever they want to call themselves! Happy to provide photos if you want to see some of the absolute joke we’ve been left with!

Hi all, I am thinking of using Impact Homes for a Turn Key Solution home that they are offering. I am not so sure about them now as many reviews are quite bad. Any comments would be helpful.

Where are you building? It's a bit hard to comment when the IH we used is in Queensland while others are in Vic. We built a place on the Sunshine Coast and, while the construction itself was reasonable - the subcontractors used were an abomination. Using cheap-quality products for everything possible like AC and garage door openers and the worst of plumbers who refuse to accept that their work is bad even though we paid for independent assessors to report on it (and it was).

Buderim. Thank you for your reply. What was the outcome of the poor work you received?

Hi guys, I am planning to build with Impact Homes in VIC as a full turnkey and was wondering about their workmanship quality and after completion support. I could see reviews from some dissatisfied customers above and wanted to check if they have fixed or delivered as per their initial promise? Would appreciate any advise and recommendation for a better builder if not Impact Homes. - Thanks in advance

Hello! I can only really comment on Impact Homes that operates in Queensland. I don't know if they are the same company or different, so it wouldn't be fair to them if they are different companies. Sorry.

Hi Sachin, Their turnkey package is a joke, dont fall for it. I did a H&L package with them and hate their work. Landscaping is a joke, they just lay the lawn on top of bumpy ground without leveling it. Blinds are of the least quality. Driveway is average. Workmanship is way below par for the money we pay. You are far better off going with Carlisle or Metricon. I would go with Carlisle anyday. the pricing is almost equal with Impact Homes.

Hi Sachin, I built with Impact Homes in VIC. Please dont fall for Turnkey package from them. Its an absolute joke. You can do the driveway/blinds/Landscaping much better yourselves. The landscaping they did is the worst of all. They didnt even level the backyard and frontyard just layed the lawn on bumpy ground. I have raised this and still hasnt been addressed. Workmanship is not up to the mark for the price you pay. Compare price/quality with other better builders like Carlisle or Metricon. I would go with Carlisle any day.

P.S. Have some windows and walls out of level above 5 mm which they cant do anything about it now. Flooring dents.

If you are going through them. Things to note: All inclusions will be at average standards. Check for Gas heater - they dont provide Zoning. Rangehood - they provide re-circulating range hood(Exhaust comes in side the house and doesnt ). Dont understand why they dont provide vent/exhaust through the roof house.

Sounds like the exact same experience as us. Steer well clear of these jokers at impact (privium)

We have been waiting for over 6 months for them to fix the uneven ground and have noticed that 'building site rubbish' is starting to make it's way to the top, there is no drainage and every time it rains our back yard floods no matter how heavy or light the rain is, due to the lack of drainage we have standing water around our property which has caused any grass that was laid to die and now smells. our front door is bowed and the wind blows directly through it. I have raised numerous maintenance requests with the maintenance department and they kept quoting COVID as an excuse, however now that works can be carried out there is no response to my emails. i have asked for a full refund of the landscaping package and i will engage a good landscaper to complete the job properly. the landscaper that was used by IH removed sections of the fence and didn't replace it correctly, so when we had some strong winds the fence blew over and i had to engage another fencer to fix and add steel posts. everything about our built appears to be of low quality other than the dishwasher and oven. since we moved in we have had to re paint the entire inside of the house as the finish was sub standard, replace the flooring as the tiler had laid the wrong tiles. the plumbing outlets for the washing machine and dishwasher are located in the middle of the cupboards which now renders the cupboards unusable for anything else. the corners of the slab are broken. the letter box was not concreted in and when the wind blew for the first time we were in our house it fell over. I would not use this builder or recommend them to anyone.

Has anyone in Maitland NSW built with Impact Homes with turnkey. How was your experience please?

Compare the price and Inclusions with Carlisle. I am not marketing Carlisle but felt they are the best in Melbourne after seeing loads of homes built by them. Metricon is also good. I built with Impact homes in Maddingley and should say I would have got a much better house with Carlisle or Metricon for the price I paid. In NSW may be Clarendon or similar builders. Dont fall for turnkey package. The landscaping and blinds they do is crap. You are better of doing it yourself.

I cannot say what they are like in Maitland or even if they are the same company that built for us on the Sunshine Coast (Queensland). The builders that did the work did a satisfactory job but the subcontractors they got in for the plumbing and other installations were absolutely appalling in the quality of work. If you build with them, check the contract to see if they can exclude you from the site (which many are doing now) and scrub that out before signing. Be sure to check things like plumbing (for fall) and bathroom fixture fittings (screens, etc) to ensure no shortcuts are being taken. If they want to exclude you from the site - use another builder. They will use the excuse that it is their money doing the build and that your payments don't count towards it until handover. Do not accept this. It is your investment and you have the right to insure that they do it correctly.

Has anyone in Victoria Western suburbs build with Impact Homes with turnkey.

How was your experience please?

Hi Carmen We have bought a home from this builder in June 2017 . Can't advise you about the or the quality of the build and this is because it was meant to be completed around March 2018 but it has not even been started yet . Very poor communication with our broker advising us that the constant delay has been the " civil works ". My husband is a builder but unfortunately didn't have the time to build it himself but is not happy about it at all . My husband will be scrutinising every inch of it when it gets built and hopefully. the quality is worth the wait . All I can say is that luckily for us this is only an investment property , pity anyone who actually needs it as a residential home with delays and added costs like these . Maybe this year will be the year !

Has anyone in NSW build with Impact full turnkey how was the experience?

Robmorris

My Partner built with them before I met her, service was hopeless and so was the state of the house at handover, with the Supervisor always making excuses, and the communication was terrible. Be sure to check everything on your plans, as the concrete was meant to be exposed gravel, and laundry outdoor slab was half the size which it showed on the plan, this was only noticed when I went through the contract 3 years later, and they won’t do anything about it as it is not a building defect, so they enjoy ripping off people that have no idea, wouldn’t build with them ever again, there now called Privium Homes.
