Rhonda I feel your answer is misleading as most of your shoes seem to be made in China. This is kept very quiet online and the prices are very high for the quality provided.

Has anyone bought jo mercer shoes that is size 7? What euro size did you go for? Annoys me how their size chart is very vague.

Beware of their sizing if you are buying online or unable to try-on before purchasing. I have a pair of Jo Mercer ballet flats marked as size 7. They are extremely narrow and rather short for a 7. Until I discovered the maker is an Australian company I thought that they may have been a US 7 which is an Australian size 6. These shoes I bought fit like a 6 which normally is a EU 38. Please see if you can try-on the pair you want to buy before you buy them. This will avoid the disappointment of purchasing a too small pair. Good luck.

Yes Australia has an abundance of imported shoes and so we are use to buying the euro sizing. How great is it to have our own Australian shoes store and maker. Good idea to try on first and always a lovely experiance of visiting a Jo Mercer store

Hi there,

I sent an email through to customer service a while back but i never got a response or even an acknowledgement. I followed up with a post on the Jo Mercer Facebook page but there has been no response either.

Here's said email, copied and pasted for your convenience:

I recently became aware that some small leather goods sold globally eg. Handbags, footwear etc. could have been made from dog leather.

Every year, the global leather industry slaughters more than a billion animals. Most of the leather in the Industry comes from India, China, and other countries that either have no animal welfare laws or have laws that go largely or completely unenforced. In China, the world's largest leather exporter, an estimated 2 million cats and dogs are killed there annually for their skins.

How do you condone this industry? Can you prove that your products are not made with dog/cat leather?

On the most recent pair of boots that I purchased from Jo Mercer, there is no indication of what type of leather it is made from. Considering the fact that your products are largely made in China, I would like to know what Jo Mercer has to say regarding using dog leather in their goods.

I think consumers deserve the right to know what their products are made from so they can make an informed choice.

I look forward to a response from your team. Thank you!

Absolutely these Chinese and Indian monsters torture animals. To think this woman might source leather from these monsters is disgraceful- silence says it all. Shame on you Jo Mercer you are contributing to the torture of innocent cats and dogs. My Jo Mercer shoes are in the rubbish I am disgusted.
