Anyone with this problem on this Mongrel boot here. It’s about year old gift that has been hardly worn. Asked the company to address the sole issue. Anyone with this experience of the brand soles? Brittle and falling apart soles?

Hello! I really like how your boots looks. But I'd like to know about size in detail. My foot is 27.3cm (10,74in.) long, and i have a Medium width foot (ig 10,2cm (4.01in.) is medium)

What size should I buy? I'm interested in K9 model I wear asics sneakers 9.5US size.

Thank you!

Hi, just wondering if the K9 boots can be resoled

Mongrel Boots
Mongrel Boots   DM

Hi Jack, thanks for your question. The soles on our K9 boots are directly injected onto the upper of the boot, and as such are not designed to be resoled. However as we produce our boots in Australia, it is possible for us for resole them if we cut the old sole off and grind off the remnants. Due to the machinery and equipment needed to do this, it can only be carried out at our factory. Thanks, Phillip.

Why do the shoe lace keep undoing

Troy
Troy

Here’s a tip, everyone uses the side zip to take on and off. So just do up the laces so you are happy with the fit, then use a couple of tight cable ties and glue around the knot. They’ll never come undone.

On the strong recommendation of my son, l purchased a pair of Mongrel safety work boots at the end of October 2021 for work in a large scale hardware store - casual position with 3-4 shifts per week….lots of walking on concrete floors and operating different machinery. Boots are brilliant in terms of comfort, especially being on my feet 8 hours per day HOWEVER the heels seem to have worn down quite quickly with yellow stripes now appearing on the soles of the heels. Is this normal? I did email Mongrel via their website but received no reply, hence my question to this forum.

Hi, I’m looking at buying a pair of Mongrel boots but I’m not sure about the sizing. I wear a size 8 in my blundstones and in most other shoes I’m a 9 (UK) what size would be best for Mongrel boots?

Mongrel Boots
Mongrel Boots   DM

Hi Noah, thanks for your question. Based on your above info, you should fit into a Mongrel size 8 quite well. Thanks, Phillip.

Hi Parker, thanks for getting in touch. If your sneakers are size US11, that equates to a size 10 in Mongrel. Cheers, Phil.

Are these boots suitable for orthotics? I was told by the podiatrist that with cheaper shoes the inner structure degrades quickly which reduces the usefulness of orthotics but these boots are not all that cheap.

Russell

No, they're too hard on the feet, so they wouldn't be the best

Mongrel Boots
Mongrel Boots   DM

Hi Dg, thanks for your question. Yes, it’s quite common for people to use orthotics inside our boots. You’ll just have to remove the footbed from the boot prior to placing the orthotic inside. It’s also quite common for podiatrists to recommend Mongrels to their customers due to the soft and supportive nature of the TPU/PU soles we use, they’re not hard at all. Cheers, Phil.

Please answer my next query. By taking out the inserts there will be less cushioning. Will that be bad for my feet or is there enough cushioning in the sole of the boots? And if there is enough cushioning in the sole of the boots, then what is the purpose of the insert that comes with the boot?

Mongrel Boots
Mongrel Boots   DM

Hi Dg, there will be less underfoot cushioning when you remove the footbed, but the cushioning provided by the sole will be sufficient. The footbed is inside the boot to provide support for your foot, and your custom orthotics will also do this in place of the standard footbed. I would recommend trying the boots on with your orthotics in to see how they feel. Thanks, Phil.

Hi everyone, I have a new pair of Mongrels. I laced up the boots and THEN zipped up my boots. My wife reckons that I should have zipped the boots up first, then do the laces up.

What's the best way, laces first or zipper first?

Steve
Steve

I find it easier to loosen the laces then unzip to remove. Putting on I zip then tighten the laces.

Vince P.
Vince P.

Hi Buddy I lace them once then never use them again unless the come apart. I always just use the zippier to put them and off, so much quicker.

Doc Boneseed
Doc Boneseed

Thanks for that Vince. I was actually thinking about getting the fit right , when first putting them on. Once done, I would only need to use the zipper. My wife reckons when FIRST putting them on, you zip them up, then tie the laces to get the best fit. I reckon laced up reasonably tight (but comfortable), THEN the zipper.

Mongrel Boots
Mongrel Boots   DM

Hi Doc, when you first get your new boots, it is best to zip the boots up before you lace them. Once you have them laced up firmly, you can use the zip to get them on and off your feet. Cheers, Phillip.

I tried on a pair of size 11's and they were a little big, the guy said they didn't have any 10 1/2s so he gave me a size 10, finally tried them on when I went home and they were too tight, took them back and they said they couldn't do anything because I'd worn them, is there any way to loosen them up or am I just stuck with boots that are too tight?

Ian D.

It must have been an issue at the retailers, because looking online Mongrel make 1/2 sizes. It may be worth you talking directly to Mongrel Boots?

They will loosen up in time as they are leather I'm normally a size 10 but wear a 9 in Mongrel boots

I have a pair of non-safety zip sider boots and absolutely love them. Comfiest boots i've ever had. I'm after some boots to wear to the office and was wondering if the Riding boot/Oil Kip style boots have a similar fit/sole as the others? I dont have anywhere locally to try them on and was considering buying them online, but the toe shape is so different i'm worried they wont fit. Any help? Cheers, Nat.

Mongrel Boots
Mongrel Boots   DM

Hi Natalie, thanks for your question. We're glad to hear that you love your Mongrels! The fit and last design of our riding boot is different to our work boots, but the sizing is more or less the same. I would recommend ordering the same size as your work boots, and they should fit you the best. In terms of the sole, they are constructed from the same soft but hard wearing TPU/PU as our work boots. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Phillip.
