Newcastle Permanent Questions & Answers
VerifiedI have been with one of the big 4 for about 25 years and i am sick of them... thought I would go local and smaller. Firstly, these reviews have now made me regret choosing NPBS
What I truly don't understand is why I have to "apply" to be accepted as a member. Exactly what are you judging me on? When filling in the online application i thought it was to open the actual account and yet as I came to the end of the application it was to decide whether i would be accepted or not.
Sorry, but this isn't the 1900's where my character is somehow assess as to whether I good enough to open a transactional account to escape the rudeness and incompetence of a big 4.
Mind you its been 4 days and i have heard no more... and yet i have received an email asking me how NPBS did.
How the hell would I know that... I haven't heard if i have been accepted into your community. I find this offensive. As a gay man I have had to fight to be accepted into the community - I shouldn't need to just to open a bank account.
Don't bother me again NPBS - I'm going somewhere that gets things done.. not just sit on applications
Oh no Paul! Something went wrong in our system and it turns out that some customers didn't receive their confirmation emails when they opened accounts with us this week. When you completed the account opening form, you should have received a confirmation and welcome email from us straight away. Your account was opened, but our email never reached you! We're so sorry this happened to you - but we're glad you posted about it, so we can fix it. We're calling and contacting everyone now.
We're really grateful that you chose to give us a try and we hope we can still be your bank! Cas

Can I get a loan through them if I am interstate?
I can't see why they wouldn't as long as you meet their criteria. I don't know if I'm allowed to put a link on this site? But you can just search for them on line. They do have internet and phone banking facilities.
Have a nice day. :)
Yes you can, we have just taken a mortgage with NPBS from Victoria. It was not without it's fair share of problems, however, as everything had to be done via phone calls and emails and snail mail. A few important parts of the process were not completed properly which resulted in a long delay in exchange of documents and only due to our persistence did we make settlement on time. As we already had a home loan with NPBS we thought it would be a easier process than if we have gone elsewhere, they do offer a competitive interest rate which is why we went with them again.
Credit card application - would we be able to get one being on a pension
$2000 limit?
Not sure but don't like you chances with Newcastle Permanent. I got one through Target, they have a card called Source Card. You pay no yearly fee, but the interest is high. I just make sure I don't spend a lot and pay it by the 55 days. hope this helps
