how do you adjust the outward tempeture for the single element system? I find the water excessively hot and not required to be that tempeture. I have previously adjusted other systems for safety reason. (living with a cognitive impaired person)

Are thermann electric hot water tanks only made to last a few years ? Are they the cheaper model made by Dux ? I have noticed a lot of complaints about the thermann hot water tanks failing after a few years ? Should I by one ?

Hi, I couldn't tell you what to buy as im not a plumber. My review is based on my own system which is only 22 months old. My system to date has worked very well and weve never run out of the very hot water even with the grandkids here from time to time, again my sytems is "always" heating so that helps but of course uses a bit more power.
The only issue todate was a water leak from the thermostatic seal requiring a new one for me not a big deal seals have a way of failing. Not sure on the "cheaper" model but would assume so that said ive had Dux in the past and the quailty looks the same to me and they also fail.
The one thing I would say is I also keep the unit clean and most importantly check the pressure release values every couple of months not doing this in the past caused my Dux unit to fail (big bluge in the side from over pressure). I hope this helps, and yes I would recommend the unit and would buy another if required. Paul

I had one of these put in 2015 (8yrs). It has been leaking quite olot over the last few days. Is this normal? What could be the problem. I would expect that a system would last longer than this. My last one lasted 15 years.

Hi guys
We have 250thm136 manufactured 10/2/2016 serial number 16021020149h and today it has decided to only warm the water slightly, so luke warm, work ideas what the issue could be and is it under any sortt of warranty

Thermann
Thermann   DM

Hello Martin, Thank you for your inquiry. Sorry to hear you are having this issue. The unit may not have gone through a full heating cycle, or there may be a larger than usual demand on the tank. After 6 years there may also be debris caught in the screens of the tempering valve or other things which may be interfering with the correct mixing of the water from the tank. There are some simple troubleshooting steps we can do with yourself and your plumber over the phone or via email. If you could get in touch with us at Thermann Support via support@thermann.com.au we can assist further.

My Thermann Hot Water system (160THMB136) is too cold (max temp from tap is 33 dec C). The unit was installed by professional plumbers in late 2019 during a major house renovation. The water coming out of the tap now is too cold. The mixer valve (Tomson 30-50) is set to maximum (i.e. fully anti-clockwise) and thermostat is also at max. Any ideas/ suggestions.

What is the energy rating on the system Energy off peak and on peak due to the price of power increase

Thermann
Thermann   DM

Hi Wendy, Thank you for your enquiry.

There are currently no energy ratings for electric hot water units. The increase in electricity pricing will not impact the efficiency of your system, the element in your system will consume the same amount of power to re-heat regardless of the cost.

Hi I have a Thurman 250THMB 136 which was manufactured January 2019. The unit will only shower 3 people before it runs out , and will not be hot again the next morning . Even if it runs out early in the day it will not be hot again till the next day.

However if you wish to provide us with your contact details at update@thermann.com.au one of our technical specialists will be more than happy to assist you with your inquiry.

My owner installed this two months ago and from that my electricity Bill gone too much up. We are just two people but we don’t use 250 litres but don’t know what to do to bring down my electricity bill. My washing machine or dishwasher doesn’t use hot water. All we use hot water for shower and vessels clean in sink like 10 minutes of each maximum. What to do?

Thermann
Thermann   DM

Hi Prasanna, We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with your hot water unit. This may be a simple fix by having a licensed electrician confirm if your new hot water system is wired on a different power tariff (continuous instead of off-peak) to the previously installed product as this could be a contributor to the increase in power costs.

However if you wish to provide us with your contact details at update@thermann.com.au one of our technical specialists will be more than happy to assist you with your inquiry.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

Why does my thermann 250 storage system beep and what should I do

Thermann
Thermann   DM

Hi Peter B, The Thermann electric storage range of products doesn't have any components that produce a beeping sound but instead, this may be coming from a battery operated Leak Detection device that has been fitted to your hot water system.

These types of device can produce a 'beeping' sound as a way of letting you know the batteries may be getting low and require replacement.

Hopefully this has been of assistance.

Kind Regards,

Thermann Hot Water

I have a Thermann 250 litre electric storage water system in my rental property. My tenant is complaining, after having used the brand new unit for a year and a half, that the water is too hot and consequently her electricity bills are too high.
Is there a way for me to control the water temperature? Would the plumber who installed the system have to set the temperature to comply with certain regulations?

Thermann
Thermann   DM

Hi Karen S. Thank you for your question relating to your 250L Thermann Electric Storage tank. The temperature in storage tanks is controlled via a thermostat and will be set at no less than 60C as per the requirements outlined by the Australian Standards for legionella control.
An adjustable tempering valve can be installed into the hot water supply line incorporating all household hot water outlets. This will provide tempered water to all hot water fixtures at a temperature that will guard against scalding. We suggest consulting with a licensed plumber to ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place for the delivery of hot water to all sanitary fixtures at the very least.

If you would like further information or clarification please email your contact details with the subject line "Karen S Product Review" to update@thermann.com.au and one of our Product Specialists will be more than happy to give you a call.

How do I adjust the water temperature on a Thermann 250l electric hot water cylinder?

Thermann
Thermann   DM

Hi Harvey, There are a few things that can change the temperature of your hot water. The two main things that can influence this are the tempering valve and the thermostat. We recommend contacting your local plumber and getting them to adjust for you. This type of work should always be performed by a licensed tradesperson.

Thanks for you enquiry

Thermann Hot Water.

When I had this problem, the switch was at fault and was replaced. No problems since.

Thermann
Thermann   DM

Hi Ian, To have your unit swapped from Off-Peak to Peak power you would need to contact an electrician to come and re-wire the unit on your switchboard.

If you would like to email us at update@thermann.com.au so one of our product specialists can get in touch for more detailed information and possible fault finding if this is not the cause.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Is there a timer setting on Thermann 160L electric storage unit to choose off peak heating tariffs?

Thermann
Thermann   DM

Hi Rob, There is not a setting or timer on the unit to swap between Peak and Off-Peak power usage. To have your unit swapped between the two you would need to contact an electrician or plumber with the relevant certification to come and re-wire the unit on your switchboard.

Possibly you need to replace the switch. I did on a 2 year old system. It now works very well.

Hot water just dribbles out - no pressure to speak of. Cold water is fine. Good pressure at the hot and cold relief valves on the system when the toggles are opened , and the hot water discharge is hot, and at pressure. So the problem is in the hot water system somewhere past the cold water inlet. This happened after a faulty electric plug ( is a plug in system , not hard wired, on a granny flat / donga ) was repaired. I would not have thought that would have made any difference to the system working properly, and after bleeding the system according to the manual I still have hot water that only dribbles out of the taps - it does sometimes have a slight pulse in the dribble pressure as if it is trying to work and the water is warmish.
The system is 50 THMS 124P Serial number 181016967017
As I live in the country / rural area, a plumber is a bit of a mission, So any help from you guys would be much appreciated Thanks, Allen Railton avrailton@bigpond.com
