99 Toyota Prado J90 diesel, pump inside the tank does not work. Put 12v to it and it doesn’t work. At the same time there is not power to the connector when the ignition switch is on. All fuses good. If there is a relay it’s not marked and no one has made a YouTube to show me where it is.

Working on my fathers car his Toyota is a uk 1997 land cruiser which I’ve been searching is the same as a prado j90. His issue is high rpm at idle 2 k or just under. I checked the throttle cable it is slack and could do with a tighten. Dad purchased a air intake hose coming from air box as old one had a split. Put new filter on and hose and no change to idle rpm. I’ve done alternator test to prove if the car charges at idle and it does not. When my father revs the engine to over 3k the volts increase reading from the main battery since his has two. At very high revs 4k I think I had seen a reading of 14volts but only 13volts as he increased revs from idle to 3k. He has put a brand new battery in 7 months ago but the car goes flat after some months of casual running. He stopped doing longer journey of late and it’s gone flat much quicker. Lot of YouTube videos point to throttle body cleaning and IAC unit sensor could be buggered or blocked. I would like to take it apart but I need some help with instructions. Pictures or videos of what to take out would be very helpful. Had a quick look and it seems that the manifold is set at a difficult angle which has caused me some headache. I need air box off then cables but do I need to take the manifold off just to access the throttle body unit? Any help would be great. His is a Diesel engine

I am planning to buy a used 7 or 8 seater SUV to take a he family on vacations and do off-roading as well. I have narrowed down to the land cruiser or land cruiser Prado but very confused which one to go for. If it's a LC series (80, 100 or 200)? if it's a Prado (j90, j120 or j150)?

Hi all, I have a prado 2000. My problem is, when I engage in 4X4 H and go onto a dirt or gravel road, the front wheels tend to sway left, and when i try to correct it it sway to the right. I can feel it on the steering wheel the gentle pulling to the sides. I took it to a 4x4 specialist, but they told me there was nothing wrong. because I drive it every day, I beg to differ. Any advice please?

Please provide more information. where is the water leaking from? what colour is the water? how much it is leaking? is the car over heating? do you have to regularly top up the fluids?

Hello Sam Thanks for your reply, I have traced to problem, I over filled my radiator reservoir on 2 occasions, which caused it to overflow when it was cooling down in my garage. I have not refilled the reservoir, have kept an eye on the temp. gauge which has been normal at just below half after a week of driving and no water under neath the car. Thanks Again Sam Regards Rob

What 97/98 model is the best all rounder.

I would recommend you buy a even better 4 wheel drive such as a suburu or a bmw I would recommend not to bother with old type vehicles - unless it's a superior brand. Toyota used to be good when they made steel engines but, now they've switched to alliminum I would suggest against purchasing

Why is the Prado TX 2001 ADR complianced and sold as 8 seats when it came standard with buckets in front, bench (3 seater) second row and two 'dickie seats in the 3rd row, amounting to a total of 7 seats only ??? This vehicle was imported new X factory in 2001.

Hi my 2002 petrol prado is hard to start ....it cranks and winds over fine just won't fire straight away ....then you turn the key again and it fires up straight away .....it used to fire up within half a crank which it does now on the second turn of the key....ive replaced spark plugs at 140;000 Km it's now got 220,000 but Toyota reckon they couldn't find the problem, thought it was to do with antithieft devise.....?? Any ideas?

Change the plugs again, use the iridium ones, they are great !

More likely a fuel issue. No fuel at piston on initial ignition. Consider filter change or injectors clean via additive.

Rog
Rog

I did wonder about changing the fuel filter ....i think ill do that as I don't no when it was last changed and I'll throw some additive at it and see how it goes .....bit cheaper than a set of plugs ....so I'll do that option first....

Thanks very much for the feed back

Don't forget there's a fuel filter in the tank also, which everyone forgets about.
