Is anyone recently signed a contract with WDC? How is your experience ?

LKakani
LKakani

Hi, We built with WDC in 2014. Our experience with them had been good. My advise - as a owner you need to know what exactly you want/need in your home. Put them detailed enough in contract. Once it's in contract WDC honours it. We had instances where the building staff had missed some items but since it was in the contract, WDC GM made sure it's completed as per agreement. Bottom line you should know what you want & make sure it's in the contract.

Good luck with your home build.

Stay away from them.... they are horrible.....

Jenbo
Jenbo

They are fine, people on here seem to be living in the past! They are open to their mistakes and the history. We are building with them, friends just moved in to their place and another friend just signed up and got their home warranty certificate straight away with no wait she said.

Second_Home
Second_Home

Jenbo, the past that you talk of is not like years away... Just a few months back they messed up heaps of clients, the GM is a big LIAR and they didn't even issue many home warranty certificates and took deposits from clients... a lot of their sub contractors and trades people delayed work as they had not received payments on time probably... People do your research thoroughly before progressing with them...

Jenbo
Jenbo

Second_Home I would be careful with the accusations you are making on your keyboard. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I am very happy with my build, the communication, the GM who tells it how it is and the subcontractors I have met. My friend is happy to with the home warranty certificate and progression on her file in early stages. My feedback is I am happy with the builder, so if someone asks me I would say build with them as I am a happy client!!!!!

Second_Home
Second_Home

Jenbo, you are entitled to your opinion and I respect that. My family went through financial and emotional stress and I am putting forward and expressing my views as they are. I have all the communications and emails in writing from these builders to back my reviews about them.. Jenbo, don't you think instead of us arguing over reviews.... shouldn't WDC officially apologise for their past mistakes on this review website?? Atleast those affected will feel a bit better...... anyway its upto all future clients to decide their choice.... I'll leave it at that....

what stage are you at at the moment? You could see I asked the same question last year. They are struggling to complete my house.

SoSickofWDC
SoSickofWDC

This people is bunch liar. They have PHD degree in lying. Their GM is a notorious liar and expert in demanding payment in advance for jobs that are not even completed. Below are their favourite words but don’t know the meaning of this words because honesty is not in WDC’s DNA.

“Trust me” “I have family” “I am very honest”

In last six, month they have hardly completed 1 house. None of their supplier wants to work with them as they are not paying them from long time. I think they are at edge of bankruptcy.

Some houses in Kellyville are not completed from more than year.

@LKakani you are right back in 2014 and early 2015 they were good. But now they are hopeless.

I would suggest to go with the renown builder rather than saving few thousand with WDC. All you will get is stress, argument with your partner if you decided to go with WDC. They do not give a damn about anybody.

Yes, WDC is still trading. I believe from when meeting with them its been a pretty rough trot since last year, but we are building with them half way through and all I can say is they are honest with what issues they face and seem to give me a genuine answer on my enquiries good, bad or otherwise.

Yes, I am building with them. Shambu you are lucky, you are progressing pretty fast. I have slab last Sept. I am still awaiting for lock up. It will be more than an year by the time it gets completed.

Sorry to hear firsrhome2. Are you building double storey? I think it usually take 9 months to year but I may be wrong.

For me, things are not moving as expected from last two week but I am optimistic at this stage.

Has anyone had recent dealing with White Design & Construction?

Shambhu
Shambhu

I am dealing with WDC from last year. My land got registered in Dec 2015. I have sign contract with WDC in the end of Jan 2016 and lodge application with CDC last week. So far I am happy with level of service that I have received from WDC (Specially from their GM).

First_homebuyer
First_homebuyer

We have lived in WDC built home for 2 years now. We were happy with the building process and we are happy about the quality of work since. We have had a few regular maintenance needed to be done meanwhile. The response from WDC has always been positive. They responded even during their vacation when we had some concerns. We can recommend the builder happily.

If you are prepared for lifetime mental stress and fights with your partner as things are not moving as expected and false promises from sales team, then this is the place to be. The GM is a big liar, she will lie to you left right and centre. Sometimes suddenly I wake up middle of the night from my sleep and keep cursing her, please don't be in this situation as me.

Birdy

They do not give a damn about anybody. I would rather build a house with my bare hands than give this company 1 cent. Absolutely disgusted with them. All the good reviews are over 2 years old not a good one since, only terrible ones now.

Good luck Shambhu because you will need lots of it.

First_homebuyer please don't recommend them now as you will only be advising people into a terrible terrible situation.

Very little professionalism . They are horrible at the moment, no planning , poor organisation, no consistency, no set policies and arrogant. They are very eager to get the contract signed after that slow as snail. The bite more than they can chew. Very disappointing for many.

Best advise to White Design

I think it is the right time to get organised , get more reliable people on board, instead of nagging on with some unqualified else move on to another profession.

Thanks Visal for your answer & comment on WD&C. We are doing our best in dealing with situation at hand and working with each of our clients individually in flagging and resolving any concerns. I don't believe we push any client to sign a contract each file is different and treated individually. We take on board your feedback & appreciate your honesty

Hi everyone, I'm also building with WDC at The Avenue, Schofields. It took me a couple of months after land registration in Feb-15 to get my contract signed which was on 8th of July this year. Probably they were sorting out the home warranty issue with other clients during that period. Just to be fair, some of their suppliers also confirmed that WDC has been affected by the restriction. As much as I'm worried about the delay, I'm trying to be patient with the hope that the issue will be resolved soon.

Second_Home
Second_Home

Hi firsthome2, Based on what we experienced, they have internal issues. They did put us and many other clients in a difficult financial situation by revising their pricing by over 150K after having a signed contract and after getting them DA approved by the relevant council.

As you can see product review has been an amazing website for people to submit their experiences. Myself and other affected clients of WDC have submitted their reviews and we all want to see their official response on this website and what interesting excuses they come up with.

Anyone signing a contract please ensure that they issue out a Home Owners Warranty Insurance before taking any form of deposit. Also in the contract ensure that it is a fixed base price.

The reality with WDC is that they are absolutely unreliable.

Nat

Hi All,

I agree with SecondHome,Please think 100 times before you decide to go with them.Absolutely unreliable people.

Has anyone started building with wD&c? Did it start on time? We have been following up on our contstruction stat time, it's been delayed by 6 months.. Please let me know if anyone is going through same pain.?

devi0603
devi0603

Our journey with WDC started as couple of friends referred us to go with them. In the initial stages everything looks great; work went very fast with no much fuss. We were very happy that everything going well. One day, we were very happy to receive the stage 6 invoice with the expected finishing date. Confirmed with the Site supervisor before giving the notice to the house owner that we were renting with. Finally the day has come to vacate our renting house but the landscaping; retaining walls were not completed along with few pending jobs. As we don’t have the option to go with, we entered the new home as the sales manager told us everything will be completed in couple of weeks. So we made the full payment. This happened in September last year. Believe it or not, from the last year we still wait for them to finish the jobs. Every week they say the work going to start next week.Unfortunately, this never happened till now.We explored our options at this stage. Will keep you posted with the updates-This review to say we are also on the same boat as you.

I am also waiting for last 6 months but not getting anywhere.

hann
hann

We started our journey with WD&C in December 2014 and Sales manager told us that our proposed date of start of construction will be May 2015 and October handover. This was the main reason we went with them as other builders were giving us completion time of December 2015. However, to date neither we received DA approvals nor Contract. We have sent them final email and if we will not get satisfactory response then we will quit. They have put us in a very difficult situation after 6 months of waiting you have to start from zero. Will keep you guys up to date what ever, will happen to us.

Thank you to all the comments and questions that have been raised over the course of time. My name is Katie Ryan and I am the general manager at WD&C. We appreciate all of the feedback we have read and to be honest it breaks our hearts. We have held off in making comments on the website until we have really known exactly what is going on which has taken several weeks, I have been at WD&C for 9 nine years now handling all facets of the business and by far this has been the hardest year and it breaks my heart personally to think I am letting you guys down. WDC is going through unexpected changes due to being poorly advised in the past which we call 'growing pains' I suppose you can say. It has placed a substantial amount of pressure on myself and Darren along with supporting staff to have placed our clientele in this position after years of hard work in growing a good product & reputable name in the area, We have spent the past 8 months in dealing with home warranty insurance and since May it has basically been incredibly difficult due to the restriction imposed creating a back log of job starts which you relate to in your above comments. WDC is now classified as a major builder & has had to make several major changes including introduction of new staff, procedures etc to satisfy requirements. There is still a restriction in place on our file of 2 /1 which we are working with our insurer in having lifted with some further substantial changes which hopefully shall develop over the next few weeks. We would like to thank all of our clientele for supporting us during these hard times and take on board the above comments and feedback in improving our business. We wont let any of you down and will continue to do our best! Cheers Katie

Hi Firsthome2 ,the response that she gave is not honest .She showed nightmare to all the clients by hiding all the truths. If she is really honest she would have told everyone their situation and price hike earlier without wasting time for all the clients.

We were so depressed and they put us in horrible situation.

Sounds terrible Raj6178. Who on earth would say "Don't give me family dramas" or whatever. It was their mistake at first and they should have apologized. Did you get any compensation for the delay. Did you try contacting fair trading?

Even if the delay happened because of your changes they should not have given you handover date or should have given you a later date so you could have organized yourself properly.

To make up my mind I want to know if they have fixed time in contract after which you are eligible to claim compensation?

Raj6178
Raj6178

Sorry for the late response HomeOwner. The related email landed in my Junk folder and i just looked at it. Yes, the house was completed within 6 months and i haven't gone in the contract details to find out the eligibility for the compensation.

The problem here is the suffering we have gone through due to the hand over date and it comes under professional negligence.

After writing the review, i had a very positive response from the builder and the sales manager apologized for it and taking it as a wake up call for the company.

Half of the pending work was done last week and hope they will finish off the rest by this week. Even though whatever they have done, I don't want to be bad for them, so i will remove the review as soon as they finish the pending work.
