Special mention has to go to our site supervisor, Tommy. He was patient and cool-headed throughout, and he took the time to understand how we felt about things rather than just ticking boxes. What stood out most was that he treated our home as if he were building it for himself — he cared about it coming up practical and looking good, not just meeting spec. He was accommodating and helpful at every turn, and that made a real difference to how we experienced the whole build.

Building a home is a big job with a lot of people involved, and what stood out to us was how well the team worked together. Our site supervisor Tommy, manager Aiden, and construction coordinator Tayla were consistently communicative and kept us in the loop throughout. When things came up, they coordinated between themselves and sorted them out without letting the build timeline slip. That's not easy to do, and we appreciated it.

The one area we'd flag for improvement is the pre-site and contract preparation stage. Some documentation gaps meant a few things had to be corrected before construction, which took extra time. To be fair, the team worked hard to resolve them and made sure it didn't flow through to the build. But tightening up documentation and checks at that early stage would make the journey smoother for future customers.

Overall, a positive experience and a home we're very happy with.

Metricon is fast, they took only 5-6 months to build 56 sq home without compromising quality and finish. Great work team!!!

in Burrum Heads, QLD and the entire experience has been outstanding. While the contracting stage took a little longer than expected, the extra time ultimately worked in our favour. The team made sure we understood every detail of the contract and they worked with us patiently to refine and vary items until the final package sat comfortably within our budget. By the time we signed, we knew exactly what we were getting - no surprises, no confusion, just clarity and confidence.

Our Colour Selection Consultant was another highlight. She had an exceptional understanding of the product range and quickly grasped the style we were aiming for. Her guidance made the process enjoyable rather than overwhelming. There were plenty of upgrade options across different price points, but she helped us choose what genuinely suited our home and lifestyle rather than pushing unnecessary extras.

But the true standout of our entire build was our Site Manager, John Bayley.

Because we weren’t local, communication was absolutely critical and John exceeded every expectation. He kept us updated with regular photos, clear explanations, and prompt responses to any questions we had. Any issue that arose was dealt with quickly and professionally. John’s attention to detail was exceptional; we had our own our private inspection where only very minor items needed attention and John even identified a few things we hadn’t noticed ourselves.

John treated our home as if it were his own, ensuring every trade delivered quality workmanship and that the final product met a genuinely high standard. Thanks to his leadership, the end result is a beautiful, well‑finished home that we absolutely love.

through construction, selections, finishing and handover—I can confidently say that choosing AusDream was one of the best decisions I made for our home.

From the beginning, what impressed me most was their willingness to listen to what I actually wanted rather than simply trying to fit my ideas into a standard project-home design. I had a very particular vision for the house. I wanted something modern, spacious and premium, but at the same time practical for our family and designed around the way we live. There were many custom elements, details and changes along the way, and the AusDream team worked closely with me to turn those ideas into a finished home.

Quality of construction

For me, the most important consideration when choosing a builder was quality. A beautiful design means very little if the construction and workmanship behind it aren't equally good.

Throughout the build, I was impressed by the attention given to the structure, workmanship and finishing. AusDream didn't make me feel that I had to accept something simply because it was "within tolerance" or "good enough". Whenever I raised a question or wanted something looked at, the team was prepared to discuss it and find a practical solution.

The finished home has the solid, premium feel I was looking for. From the overall construction through to the internal finishes, cabinetry, tiling, electrical work, lighting and detailing, there is a noticeable level of care throughout the house.

A genuinely customised home

One of AusDream's biggest strengths is their flexibility.

This wasn't a situation where I selected a standard floor plan, changed a few colours and called it a custom home. I was personally very involved in the design and wanted to incorporate a number of ideas that were important to me and my family.

There were plenty of discussions along the way—some ideas were straightforward, while others required more thought and problem-solving. I appreciated that the team didn't immediately say "no" when something was outside the ordinary. Instead, we would discuss what I was trying to achieve and work through how it could realistically be incorporated.

That collaborative approach made a huge difference. The result feels like our home, rather than simply another house built from a catalogue.

Communication and dealing with issues

Anyone who has built a house knows that a construction project of this size will have challenges and decisions along the way. I don't believe a realistic review should pretend otherwise.

What matters is how the builder responds when something needs attention.

This is an area where I had a positive experience with AusDream. I was a very involved client and probably asked more questions than the average homeowner. When I wasn't satisfied with something, I said so. When I wanted clarification, I asked for it. The team remained approachable and worked with me to resolve matters rather than becoming defensive or disappearing once construction was underway.

That accountability was extremely important to me.

Value for money

When building a premium home, it is easy for costs to escalate quickly. My focus wasn't simply on finding the cheapest builder; I wanted to achieve the right balance between design, construction quality, inclusions and overall value.

Looking at the finished result, I believe AusDream delivered excellent value for the level of home we created.

More importantly, I never felt that the objective was simply to build the house as quickly as possible and move on to the next project. There was genuine pride in delivering a home that both the builder and homeowner could be proud of.

Local builder with a personal approach

Another thing I appreciated was dealing with a builder where the relationship still felt personal.

With a home of this scale, you are trusting a company with a significant investment and something your family may live in for many years. Being able to have real conversations, discuss ideas and speak openly when something needed attention gave me much more confidence throughout the process.

AusDream has also been a long-term supporter of our local community, including supporting the Macarthur Region Nepalese Community and its Teej celebrations for several years. As someone actively involved in our community, I value businesses that don't simply operate locally but also contribute back to the communities that support them.

The final result

The best compliment I can give AusDream is that the finished house reflects the vision I had when we started the journey.

There is a huge difference between looking at drawings and selections on paper and eventually walking through the completed home. Seeing all those individual decisions come together into one finished house was incredibly satisfying.

Friends, family and visitors regularly comment on the design, space and overall finish of the home, and I'm genuinely proud of what we created together.

Building a home is a major financial and emotional commitment, and choosing the right builder is probably the most important decision in that process.

As a full-time working couple, we designed this home for a large and busy family, which meant we had many specific requirements. Like many people undertaking a knockdown-rebuild for the first time, we felt a mix of excitement and uncertainty, and looking back, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. H&H’s process design was the first thing that caught our eye. It is transparent, customer-focused, and fit-for-purpose. From requirements gathering, designing and planning, all the way through to final delivery, we could clearly see how each step and task was tracked, completed on schedule, and delivered to a high standard. The project management and communication app they use (Basecamp) is also a great tool.

Most importantly, however, is the people. H&H should be proud of its wonderful team - we couldn't have achieved each milestone without everyone’s amazing works. There were countless discussions, meetings, documents, estimates, quotations, and design revisions etc. Our Project Manager, Mel, was no doubt super experienced and professional, keeping everything well-organized, planned, and clearly communicated to ensure our project stayed on track through the design, planning, and DA approval phases. The Estimator team and Designer team, always very helpful as well!

And when we faced some unexpected challenges, such as BASIX requirements that impacted our initial design footprint and budget, and an out-of-control issue with Ausgrid that nearly became a show-stopper at a critical stage, Morgan truly shed light on these problems!! The way he analyzed the issues for us and provided solutions and options that minimized both financial and time impacts left us deeply impressed. To be honest, without Morgan, we might have given up at some point! So, a huge thanks to Mel, Morgan and everyone else in the project team!

I’ll admit that by the time construction started, we were a little worried about how long everything would take. However, that’s when H&H really blew us away, and the final handover honestly exceeded our expectations! -- A massive thank you goes to our Site Manager, Nic Pianta, who made what we thought would be the most stressful stage feel surprisingly smooth. Every construction milestone was well-planned and completed, updates were regular, communication was clear, and we never felt left in the dark.

What stood out most was how involved Nic was. He visited the site regularly, was always available when we had questions, and genuinely cared about getting things right, not just getting them done. We had very few concerns during construction because everything was so organized and well-delivered. Like any build, there were a few small hiccups along the way mainly around suppliers, but Nic handled them seamlessly. He was always one step ahead, kept us informed, and resolved issues quickly and professionally before they became a worry for us. That gave us immense confidence throughout the build. The quality of the finished home is also fantastic. Even our private building inspector commented that there were significantly fewer defects than what they usually see, which truly speaks to the high standards Nic and H&H team delivers.

beautiful. Throughout the build, our site manager Dan D was outstanding. Communication was clear, timely, and professional, and we always felt informed about the progress of our home.

The only area where our experience could have been improved was after handover. While any issues that arose were eventually addressed, the response times for post-handover maintenance and repairs were quite slow, which was disappointing after such a positive building experience.

Fowler. We had some delays which unfortunately increased the cost, however the delays weren't due to Fowler (or us) -- the developer was 18 months behind when they had said the land would register.

I travel a reasonable amount for work, and the site supervisor Tony did really well at keeping us in the loop, sending photos of what was occurring on site while I was out of the country. He was flexible in allowing a private inspector onsite as well, and at making time for us to visit the site when we were able.

What has really stood out to us has been comments after handover. Yes, friends have said it looks really good, but more importantly to us has been tradesmen; when getting a battery and more solar installed the electricians commented on the quality of both the roof work and insulation, items that aren't going to be visible after the fact and might be tempting to cut corners on. Another tradesman commented on how he's only seen good quality work from Fowler when he's come to do installs.

If we were building again, we would absolutely pick Fowler -- very happy with the whole process.

and has been riddled with an endless stream of errors and non compliant building techniques.

I paid for supervision but the amount of problems demonstrate little to any supervision on this site. Except for the roof nearly everything is this house has been done twice.

They used filthy muddy bricks which had been submerged in flood waters in Taree in 2025, laid without washing, despite the contract specifying “ all building materials must be new”. The mortar encased the mud and is now bleeding out mud stains.

The kitchen installed wrong and replaced, despite paying extra and it being on the plan, cupboards , bench top all wrong dimensions. All three bathrooms will need to be redone, I specified continually I needed all shower openings to be a minimum or 900mm wide. Nup. I have 700mm, 800mm and 500mm

Plans specified wall hung vanities. They weren’t.

The internal stairs, I specifically wanted a minimum width of 1m. I asked the owner of Matto Luke Pty Ltd on the day I signed the contract, “ Are you sure these stairs are 1 m wide?” He got quite cranky with me and grabbed the plans, shoving them in my face and saying “ the landing is 2 m wide, of course your stairs are a metre wide”. The foreman, said he would get the carpets shampooed, and “ what was my problem?” The carpets are ruined and not a sorry word in sight. When I said to the owner of Matto Luke Pty Ltd in March 2026 that I did not accept shampooed carpets full of grit and smelling musty his response……” I’ll see you in court”.

No batts were installed in the floor cavity, despite me telling them it had to be done. I was ignored. They had to rip down the entire garage ceiling, which had been painted, corniced etc to put the batts in. Ha ha ha. I did enjoy watching that being done at their expense.

I paid Matto Luke Pty Ltd to construct a retaining wall because I thought they would do it properly. No, silly me. Wall was not back filled, causing the neighbours garden to subside. My partner and I worked all Xmas to back fill this wall with no acknowledgement from Matto Luke Pty Ltd.

The entire build has been a stuffup from day one. I have never encountered such unprofessional and amateur conduct along with no moral compass. The lies have never stopped, with fabrications and variations of lies piled one atop each other. I have 3 lever arch files documenting this sorry saga.

This build has ruined my life, destroyed my health and caused no end of grief. I have scrimped and saved for 40 years to build what I had thought would be a nice house. I regret every day of my life ever signing up with Adenbrook Homes Port Macquarie.

The main company of Adenbrook Homes in Sydney have not offered any support or rectification, not even the filthy carpets.
