regular use functions.
The display whilst not being the high end version has decent brightness , can be used in sunlight and performs well inside games.
The Performance is good for me with the only issues being some of the included bloatware but that's was easily addressed.
When under a full load it was not loud fans wise or never got as hot as my previous machine. The USB C ports run Video no problems.
Whilst the inbuilt speakers are not great they are a lot better than most unbranded sound systems. For a laptop in this price range they were probably the best I came across. Decent Battery performance.
Cons
Although it has 4 USB ports the mix being 2 USB type A and 2 USB Type C I do wish it had one more type A port as by the time a mouse and keyboard are connected you only have Type C ports available.
However More an Issue with me as I didn't think the mix would cause a problem. It does if you want to connect a USB memory stick with a Type A connector. Not a deal breaker but long term it will need a work around like a hub or dual wireless setup for the keyboard and/or mouse. Again not a big deal as you can identify this at the time of purchase.
I usually use a Laptop connected to external power and there is no problem with this one other than the connector. That being it's location on the side. It would be better with a rear connector IMHO but the power supply does have a Right Angled plug. Only really an issue if you move it around whilst connected.
For me it could do with more storage as I use plenty of mods for the games I play. Again not a big deal as it has an additional internal connector for another SSD. Only one and not for a traditional HDD sized unit but it is a modern machine so an NVME unit is fine.
Overall
After having had a few laptops now for the money this one is one of the best. Whilst it isn't a lightweight the 90WH battery and robust feel and construction leaves me confident in it's long term future. I don't think you could go wrong for the money with it's Gaming Video Performance and low power usage when not running flat out. It does behave strangely on occasion but this was always due to Windows 11. One day I figure that out.

Pro's Asus continuously update the firmware so if there's a bug it soon gets fixed. -8 LAN ports: ideal for anyone with more than 4 ethernet devices -Wifi 6 (AX) connectivity -Exceptional range: We can see the router 72 metres away at a friends place going through multiple walls and 2 other houses -Surprisingly fast wifi 5 speeds close to the router i.e. >350 Mb/s Chromecast/Google streamer -Reasonable speeds when a further away e.g. ~60 Mb/s on Wifi 5 ~20 m away, at the far end of a garage at the far end of the property, going through brick walls, tin roof, filing cabinets, etc... -Lots of features e.g. Mesh & ability to pass through multiple IP addresses (we run 2 VOIP lines Optus & Vonex) -Rock solid reliability: Zero crashes. No need to regularly reboot. -Good longevity (never had a router fail) -Works straight out of the box -Passing through IP addresses is fairly easy -Advanced settings are fairly easy to find, use and access -User friendly graphical interface
Con's -Wifi 6 (Wifi 7 would be nice) -1 Gb/s ethernet: If you have Gigabit internet or move data around at high speeds this may be too slow

"connected" but without internet. Wired devices on the same router would continue to work fine. Power cycling the router would see it working fine again for a couple of days. This irregular operation behavior worsened over time and eventually meant that I had problems even trying to use connected devices through Google Home like Spotify connect. After much frustration, I replaced the Asus with a decent Netgear RAX200 and it's been flawless. On the basis of this experience, I could not recommend this device to anyone.

Asus Australia offered me no joy, despite several efforts to have them help me out with my issue, showing no concern nor interest whatsoever. Asus, it's an expensive piece of technology, your two year warranty doesn't reflect the expensiveness of this laptop nor the period of time that I believe I should get before negative issues arise. We have chosen to trust your products and technologies and I personally don't consider your objectionable behaviour as customer-friendly. I certainly will never be purchasing an Asus product again, avoiding risk of failure in an expensive Asus product within a short period of time and with very limited warranty indeed!

It has a decent CPU with the AMD Ryzen R5-4500U and 8GB of RAM (2x4GB so that's great!). It has a 512GB solid state drive (SSD) which is more than enough storage for most people. It is very fast! The screen is fantastic - very sharp and clear. The weight is also excellent for a 15.6" notebook.
The webcam is ok but I honestly don't understand why manufacturers are not using the selfie camera from a phone now. Surely they can strike a deal with a provider of the selfie camera for Samsung, HTC, Oppo or whomever.
I believe it also has a TPM2.0 chip so should be able to run Windows 11 once it's released and stable, in about a year.
This is NOT a gaming notebook but a really good all- rounder. Gaming notebooks are overrated anyway.
I have set up 28 of these notebooks so far and each time I must say I am rather jealous of my customers. If I were to choose another notebook right now in this price bracket I wouldn't hesitate in buying one of these. This is perfect for my needs and probably anyone else's.
This computer definitely gets my recommendation for a powerful and very well build machine. Well done Asus! Well done indeed!

basic router supplied by IP does not cut it. The Asus seemed to be low cost for smaller home, and packed with features, free firmware update+trend security for life of router+more. Easy setup(though I did need a little help from Asus Support, very good). Concurrent use of 2.4Ghz+5Ghz. 5Ghz for TV+Tablets achieving 105Mbs consistency, and 75Mbs at 30m outside. 2.4Ghz good for mobie phones, printer, Google home, smart lights etc. Using for 6 weeks solid performance. Note: If updating firmware on WiFi, place your device close to the router, as specified in Setup. Very happy with purchase from Amazon and support from Asus.

approach to network management. Finding devices on a network is not well configured, so identifying specific devices, is hit and miss. Its counter intuitive interface for parental control time management is going to confuse a lot of people (it did us initially as it asks you to specify hours "not on line" as opposed to hours spent on line) and is not as a consequence easy to set up. It consistently dropped the ball when it came to daylight saving too.
All in all an OK device from our point of view that would have made more sense had it been better at network monitoring and taken a straightforward approach to parental controls.
