Keep beside the bed for when I wake at night – I use the Rescue Remedy drops on my tongue for hormonal night-waking. It usually works immediately. referred me to a sleep specialist who conducted a in home sleep study.

For this study I attended the Specialists office at 7:30pm at night dressed in my PJ's, where I was fitted with a device that had multiple sensors, that were attached all over my body. I could comfortably drive home wearing it, and whilst it did take longer to settle that night, I had my usual nights sleep. Some offer this service as an in home service and come to your home to fit the device. (just ask what's available) There are also in clinic options available, it will just depend on your situation and Doctors recommendations.

I took the device off the next morning and returned it to the Specialist centre and recieved my results a few days later. The results of this sleep study will depend on thre treatment options, I can only tell you my experience. I was diagnosed with mild sleep aponea, basically I didn't stop breathing, my breathing was just restricted, hence I snored like a freight train.

I was referred through to a sleep technician who assisted me with a one month trial of this machine at a cost of $200, cost may vary depending on who you go see. The machine was setup for me based on my sleep study and I was provided training on how to use it. During the trial I was provided the opportunity to test different masks (there are so many) to find what best suited my personal needs. Best $200 I have ever spent and I advise anyone thinking of buying this device to do the same. There are male and female version of the AirSense10 (Female is white/Male is Black) however only the female device is listed through product review.

As I found out through reasearch and my trial there's a little more to sleep aponea machines, The airsense 10 is what they classify as an automatic machine, What this basically means is that the machine adjusts the air pressure for you. Again this is all based off clinical result from your sleep study, that's why it's so important to do one. In fact, it's a question you get asked when you buy a CPAP Machine.

It took me about around 1-2 weeks to become accustom to the device, as it is pushing air into your airways to keep them open during your sleep. I experienced dryness in the airways which was fixed by small adjustments to my machine.

Another question I am asked often is what type of mask? I use the Resmed AirFit F30i

Again this will be determined on many factors such as, do you breath through your nose or mouth or both when you sleep. I can only talk from my experience with these masks, I tried just nasal masks which were uncomfortable for me due to the shape of my nose and a minor obstructed septum. I tried full face/half face/front hose connection and top of head connection. I found the top head connection to be the best for me, the reason for this was when I moved during my sleep my mask would not move. I found with the hose connected directly to the mask, when I moved during the night the hose would get caught and my mask would shift creating a leak and eventually me waking. The Resmed AirFit F30i is perfect as it allows for both nose and mouth breathing, has a soft silicon shell and top of the head connection. I know quiet a few people who use this mask.

I tried all of the gimmicks (rings, head bands, mouth guards, nose things) mouth guards worked on and off but I found them really uncomfortable and my jaw was often sore from being force forward during the night to keep my airway open.

RESMED Airsense 10 is the only thing that has fixed the problem for good, no more wood chopping for my family druing the night and an added bonus, my wife and I sleep in the same bed.

tap on shoulder to a little nudge, to a little kick to a loud shuush and after many years now all I need to do is hit the top of the doona But this is not fail safe and nothing has really helped. I tried those orange earbuds, you know the ones that tradies use but they just fall out of my ear & you can hear them as they expand so you have that constant foamy sound in your ear and then they end up falling out anyway so no good. My daughter wanted to try the ear loops for noise and I came across the dream one so I gave them a crack so far pretty good. I do use them every night and they do block 95% of my husband snoring out without the expanding noise of foam in my ear. The only issue I found is that one of my ears stays in perfect all night the other one tends to move from where it’s meant to be and by the morning it’s often either fallen out or it’s just sitting in my ear But these little buds are giving me much better sleep I’m very happy with them and would recommend them I haven’t tried the actual dream ones as they were a little more expensive at $79, I wasn’t 100% sure these would’ve worked so I didn’t wanna waste my money. I think I paid like $39 for these delivered so I didn’t mind trying that but I am interested in trying the dream ones now.

buds. I’m a side sleeper and have a harder pillow (because I’m a side sleeper!) so the buds tend to hurt my ears. I’ve tried other foam tips for them and soft pillows but don’t sleep. I think the detect sleep is a bit gimmicky as it’s never worked as intended. It does not block out all sounds. Instead just puts a white noise in your ears. If it wasn’t for the ear pain I would like these! But the cost of them leaves a sour taste. Pass if you are a side sleeper with a hard pillow.
