Our electricity bill has more than doubled since we had this system installed. Heat pumps running non stop. Is this normal?

Hi Paul! Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. Let's get this sorted for you. Are you able to email the details to service@ecoalliance.com.au ? Then the Service Team can contact you directly. In the mean time, this troubleshooting video should help: external link

Hi there. I've just been changing the timer function (in ECO mode) so that the Dynaheat will heat water during peak solar generation time but as this is the middle of the day, the system will be off during the 2am timeslot that it would heat the system up weekly to kill of any chance of Legionella. Do you know if the system will still automatically override the timer functions in ECO mode and come on at that 2am time or should I add another timer setting manually to come on at that time to ensure the legionella prevention function still works. Many thanks. Justin.

Hi Justin! Thanks for reaching out. The compressor automatically opens at 2am every Monday for the weakly disinfection for 35 minutes. However, I would recommend setting an additional timer to allow this process to occur as a fail-safe :) Thanks!

With a dual tank system, is it easy to turn one off and on? i.e. can you turn one off during periods of low demand to save energy, and then turn both on when you have high demand (e.g. extra people in the house) to ensure adequate hot water?

you can turn 1 off as along as your system is in “parallel”. Just simply turn off water and ele supply at 1 unit.

We had a power outage - do I need to do anything to the pumps o tanks or do they just turn on automatically again.

My system was installed this week - I asked the installer how to set lock-out time to avoid Peak Rate. He said it would be in the manual that would be sent by email. I did receive a manual, there is a reference that a lockout can be set BUT there is NO instruction on how to do this!!! Does anyone have the proper instruction set - Please??

My 215L Dynaheat did not have any interactive display, or switches for customer to do any settings. It is totally sealed. I of course did not have issues with hot water: mine is really hot, serving two bathrooms. Pressure is mains pressure and way better than Rheem instantaneous gas system I had before. The user manual I received via email did not have anything a customer could set. As an alternative I have done as below but i do not know if manufacturers endorse my solution. I am yet to ask them the question.

Peter, I have plugged the electricity supply to the unit via a smart plug that can handle 10A. The Australian product Cygnett Smart WiFi Plug has proven doing the job really well over the last 5 months for me. The smart plug powers the unit in my case during off peak overnight and adds another 3 hours during the day when my solar system produces energy. The long overnight heating allows the unit to reach and maintain 60 C to kill off legionella. On the day of installation, the unit reaches operating temp in 2 hours 45 mins in a cold day in May, so I took cue from that to set up a day time feed for 3 hours. The smart plug has an iPhone app with energy meter, so it graphs the daily use and you can see your daily power use for this appliance alone.

Thanks for your reply Serge - that's very interesting. My only concern is that the Cygnet Smart plug does not appear to be suitable for outdoor use? Can you confirm? BTW the control units for the 2x155Lt DynaHeat units that I have, are behind the smaller on the front panels. Need to remove 4 screws and slide the panel down. There you wil see the control unit that can be unclipped from its holding bracket - set the temp etc. I just need to know which button/buttons to press to access the menu? Sorry, I can't paste a photo here.

Thanks James - it would be nice if the Owners Manual had some instruction! Or your installers provided with some basic training to answer some simple questions! After playing around with the controller this morning, I have found that a LOOONG press of the "clock" symbol accesses the Timers where you can turn the unit on/off at specific times - i.e. to operate during the day when solar and cheap rates are available. Yes, I will send an email to your service team immediately as I still want to understand how the wireless control works (it does have a wifi symbol on the controller but I have not been able to activate it)

Hi Vincent, we're an Australian company based in Melbourne (Seaford actually). All the design and development is undertaken here, the systems are manufactured in China where most heating/cooling appliances are made.

Your brochure says Japanese compressor. That was why I went for yours. Has this changed in the last 9 months when this question was asked or is your brochure wrong??

EcoAlliance
EcoAlliance   DM

Hi Shane, apologies for the confusion - the brochure is correct. The compressor is Japanese but the actual tanks are manufactured in China. Hope that helps, thanks.
