When most builders covers the Utilities connection fee - why does Home Group pass that on and in addition expects the Owner to pay all Utility usage during construction? Shouldn't usage be part of your building costs?
what is home groups tile allowance?
How much time homgroup took to finhish the construction
Hi , how much time homegroup took to finish construction?after all the paper work is done .
Hi Hameed, my construction hasn't started as of yet I've not long signed up but Kurt was most helpful and is still working on things now, but is keeping me updated with the progress. We go to the mortgage broker next week to finalise the finance, then we will be ready to proceed.
Hi I am planning building with Home group in victoria.
Please share experiences and things to look for.
Thanks
Hi Ahsan Overall we are happy with the build but what I would get annoyed with was that, once you sign up, it's all about the builder. Any issues you think of will be covered by item listed in the Addenda. We were not happy with kitchen and laundry sinks that scratch very easily. Carpentry work also could be better. PC, prime cost, are one issue where they estimate a cost and any money left over is returned to you. Of course this doesn't happen as they will find a way to use all this money so little or no refund will be received. Overall I feel that we got a good job done in fairly quick time. Just make sure you read all the documents and make sure you understand what you are getting.
Hi John, thanks for your review. I am considering building with Homegroup but a bit hesitant as there are no reviews for Victoria. (Cheers for being the first) Would you recommend them? thanks for your time.
@tenzo I am building my home with home group and other than the initial sales stage I am not that happy with the way home group has responded. As some of my other friends are building the home with other renowned builders and as we share the experience in the whatsapp group during the Covid-19 construction phase. I have noted down some of the items from customer point of view missing with Home group. I have also sent them an email to them and will wait if they are happy to change and make the customer experience smoother . I am also planning to write a detailed review and also will share the VBLOG of my dream home later this year.
1. The construction updates are up to date and proactive with the other builders, where as with Home group it's just reactive , We will get the response only when we ask 2. They (other builders) have direct email or SMS communication with Site supervisor which boosts the confidence of the clients, which home group we have one POC who sometimes dont have the exact realtime information. 3. They (other builders) have provided a walkthrough of the home after the frame inspection (even during the Stage 3- where the builder provided a letter to travel to the site). - home group rejected my request 4. During the stage 4 restriction ,Site supervisor sends the photo of the dream home as he values how important this home is to the client and how eager they are, to know the progress . But with the Homegroup the photo for the defects fix which I have requested after the private inspection has been done is also not entertained.
Having said that the final product of Home group for one of my friend was pretty good . But from the first home owner perspective the experience during the build process is also important.
Hi Kumbla, THANK YOU so much for taking the time to provide a very detailed account so far. This is very helpful as I am in the process of researching builders and quite hesitant with HomeGroup as my understanding is that they are new to Victoria. Timely communication and transparency is so important considering what is at stake. I hope the rest of your build process does go smoother and thank you again for this review. All the very best.
Hi Kumbla and Tenzo please join FB Group. HomeGroup Victoria New Build Discussion Group. Thanks.
We are currently building with them... And I was literally hung up on the other day, because she said I was rude, because we where told the frame didn’t pass inspection, so the roof couldn’t of been done, however we drove past and see the roof get done. And question Sarah, and she obviously didn’t like being out on the spot.
Everything since Lee and Eli have handed our file on has been shocking. Lee has said to contact him with any issues from now on. But all together what a joke.
Hi Steven, Oh dear! Thank you for sharing! I hope the experience improves for you. I met with Lee and had a really good vibe from him, its sad that the same level of professionalism has not continued on to the build (which is the most important part). Definately taking note of that. Thank you.
Hi Tenzo, Did you end up building with Home Group? I am also considering building with them early next year and making sure that they are reliable builder.
