We are currently with Clyde and they no longer part of the Hotondo Homes. Slow start (actually very slow), I've been advised that its due to getting concrete labourers and covid. We were suppose to have slab down in October and in by Feb but so far nothing. Communication has been ok but you'll need to keep on top of it.

Has anyone started building with building republic (formerly known as SEPC building group @Hotondo Homes)? What was the process like? Unfortunately there are no reviews I can find. I would love to hear from yall. Thank you in advance.

We terminated our contract with them. We were not advised of the change away from Hotondo Homes or other things. Only found out when I was chasing them and got told by Hotondo they are no longer a franchisee. Communication with them has been awful and after 5 months they still hadn't even submitted the Building permit. I have had to chase every step of the way and we gave up in the end. They give builders a bad name. I haven't received any of my deposit back after chasing for months now and am about to submit a claim with Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria.

Thank you for your reply I have recently heard they have gone into liquidation. My friend had the same problem and to this day have not received any if their deposit back either. I will never recommend Hotondo to anyone and Hotondo should back up thd people left stranded. Hotondo now have a bad name as far as I'm concerned.

Hi everyone, has anyone built with Building republic ? The communication from them has been so poor. There always seems to be some excuse when it comes to commencing site ? Could someone please provide some insight if they are actually going into liquidation because they are not on ASIC list ? Thank you in advance

Hi Sam, did you ever progress further with this builder? Friends signed a contract at end of 2019, very slow to start in 2022 and 1 year later still not at lock up stage. Builder is not responding at all and no one has been seen on site for at least 3 months

Hi Emma. No we didn’t. We have moved on to a more wonderful builder who have been amazing knowing what we have been through with jarrad and his team. The unnecessary stress, headaches, mental health issues dealing with them we decided it was best to terminate as they were asking for more money. We declined and following that we encountered excuse after excuse. I have proceeded further to get our refund back.

Approx 40-50 emails, calls, texts sent and received maybe 5 replies.

I recommend your friends terminate and try to obtain a deed cancellation notice and escalate it. However this could take months for a response from DBDRV who specialises in building disputes. And they have been helpful so far. But jarrad is refusing to respond to their emails. So we are taking the next step before vcat. I believe quite a few people have proceeded through DBDRV to get their deposit back

Hi guys I am in the same boat as you and thinking of filing a lawsuit if more people are willing to participate. Kindly also proceed with DBDRV as they have a time frame of up to 16 weeks before they can respond.

We don't have any standard two bedroom floor plans however all our designs are completely flexible and can be modified to suit. In my experience Hotondo contracts were ready straight away and we had to wait for bank! Our build was complete from deposit to move in ahead of the twelve month time frame they gave us

Once all the colours and finishes etc are finalised the Contracts are ready for signing quite quickly. Once signed they can go to the bank.

Hi Andrew, This can vary depending on each situation as a lot of factors can contribute to contracts being finalised including land being titled, colour selections etc. It's best to speak directly to your builder about time frames as they'll have the background knowledge on where everything is at. Hi kk a, We definitely do undertake split level construction and have a range of home designs to suit sloping blocks depending on the fall of the land. We can also tailor our standard home designs to suit sloping blocks but again this will depend on the fall of the block.
