a word processor, however, when i tried using the scan function, i got the following error message: "cannot access the scanner". I tried for hours to get the thing to scan with no luck, then rang HP's help desk. After jumping through all the hoops for the help desk, sending pictures of the printer, the printer placard and supplying the model number and stating my problem several times, the help desk walked me through a number of fixes, none worked. The help desk then asked if I would grant remote access to them. i wasn't keen on that idea, but eventually aquiesced and the help desk gained access. They worked on my computer for 2-3 hours but eventually said they couldn't help, so now i am stuck with a printer I cannot scan with. Further to that, I started getting spam emails from casinos, betting sites and a host of other sites, so obviously the help desk sold off my email address. Be warned do not allow remote access to off shore help desks. They are criminal enterprises who sell off you information. Oh, and the HP 5105 is a pile of rubbish, as is the smart app and their help desk. Stay away from HP.

brother is about 10 years old and still going strong, but expensive in ink. Now, for the HP Smart Tank 7305, it's a waste of money. I wish I had never bought it. From day one, I had connection issues with the WIFI. Finally got that sort of thing to some degree. It is a process to keep it connected and running. If it's been a day or so, I need to go through the setup again and again to get it to work. Also, the print head constantly fails. I have to keep removing them, cleaning them, turning the printer off and back on and waiting and seeing. This process can take a few attempts to get them back to working order. If I am not fighting with the WIFI connection and the print heads. I am fighting with paper jams from the bottom feeder. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO FOR ANOTHER SMART TANK PRINTER. If you want to spend half your time trying to get this thing to work just to print a document, go for it. But I can tell you that you will want to throw it out the window, and your stress levels will go through the roof. I would never buy another HP printer after this. Yet my laptop and desktop are HP, never had an issue with them, but the printer is another story.

HP, looks compact and pretty, you need to have a lot of patience and tolerance level, and eventually after many attempts, yes it does finally print. Someone recommended brother printer, I should have listened but I liked the compact look of this printer, which really frustrates me and waste alot of my time. When it works it works. You would expect to work everytime, not receive error messages one after another. I just needed to vent my frustration.

worst support ever. Just don't get hooked into their Instant Ink system; yes it can chug along easily enough, then you print extra pages and get a bill for £129 - that's around £0.40 per page... And, because you MUST use HP inks on their ‘plan’, your inks cost much more than non-HP brands - £70+ every two or so months. When you do try to cancel Instant Ink, if you try to switch to respectable, reliable 'other brands' of ink rather than HP's own - STOP! They virtually switch off your printer - tell you 'NO, you can't use forgeries, only ours.' Now I'm stuck with this slow, low-quality repro lump, which functions wirelessly only intermittently, possibly only when HP-control allows? Hard to tell what the actual problem is, but, while every other wireless-operated device in the house functions perfectly, I get the recurring message; "THE PRINTER IS NOT RESPONDING" when I attempt to print on my HP ENVY Inspire. Inspire?! Whoever dreamed up that one obviously never used one.

truck going over it time and time again. I mean it when I say, the ink doesn't go far for the price. The price of it is already absurd, but to get bugger all out of it, at subpar quality... I replaced my yet again, empty cartridge and got an entire, wait for it... TEN sheets out of it before it's run out again. That has got to be a record. Those 10 sheets? Over an hour of printing time, that is no word of a lie. If only I could possibly put into words how frustratingly SLOW this printer is. It's diabolical. Definitely has no sense of urgency that's for sure.
I wish I had read the reviews beforehand and listened to those that mentioned its supersonic speed (NOT). Don't blink, you'll miss it LOL. Video proof provided of the Usain Bolt speeds in question.
HP support is severely frustrating to deal with also. It appears I must've made an enquiry on new staff recruitment day because between them, they're clueless. Couldn't organise a p*ss up at a brewery that lot.

wasting HEAPS of ink. Features: a scanning bar that looks worse than a photo converted online. App: takes 5+ hours to get it working on new wifi's because this "smart" printer needs your device connected to wifi, but connects to your device by it's own "wifi", you cant connect to two wifi's simultaneously on your phone, enter a third device to act as the simultaneous wifi hoe to connect the printer to the wifi. Also to get a new wifi set up you have to delete the whole app and redownload it from 123.hp.com/dj3721 Which I only mention including the web address due to the printer making me print 30 pages from it's memory via pressing random button combinations prompted by the app to find out this information and that info not being anywhere online. Why couldnt the app just have it as a text page within the app instead of making me print it? another ink wasting tactic. This has happened so many times I've saved the paper piece and taped it TO the pronter to keep because I don't want to waste another 30 pages+ink to get that same info back. Ink specificity: the only ink you can use is HP ink. Its obvious the entire purpose of this printer was to try rope people into buying their brand of ink and wasting as much ink as often as possible to further that goal.
Never buying a HP printer again. Maybe their more expensive printers are better, but this printer has completely destroyed any desire I had to get one from this brand, you've burned a bridge mate. I spend money on things I want but if that money is profitting a company that acts like this? I never buy from them again.

over-riding Word settings in documents, to it refusing to print from a particular tray, then happily printing from that tray a few hours later, to refusing to print a document unless glossy paper was inserted in the tray. receive a lemon. Mine was essentially DOA - out of the box it claimed that it had a paper jam despite never being used, and would not recognise any paper in the trays. Apparently this is a known issue with these printers - some little sensor or widget goes belly-up - and can occur during shipping or at a later date. Worse than receiving a dead printer was HP's response. I think they must feed their support staff Slow Pills. Once you manage to get hold of a support tech, you'll spend many joyless minutes on a video call proving that they've sent you a dud ("Pull this out, shine your torch there, push these buttons, access this secret menu, paint me like one of your French girls, Jack"). Then, there'll be crickets for days before someone else decides that they might send someone to collect the paperweight. After a week, HP still hadn't arranged a definite date collect the dud, so I gave up and popped to the local Officeworks and bought a Brother MFC-L8900CDW. (Incidentally, Officeworks were excellent and upheld their Price Beat +5% promise when I showed them another business selling the Brother for several hundred dollars less than Officeworks). If you're feeling lucky and want to take a chance on this thing, I'd recommend buying it locally so you can take it back to a physical store and not have to rely on HP direct's dire support. You should also note that HP (despite several lawsuits) continue to engage in the anti-competitive practice of locking out non-HP cartridges. They will actively update the printer firmware remotely to disable compatible cartridges on a continuous basis. They euphemistically call this 'dynamic security' presumably because dangerous animals or bitcoin scammers hiding in printer cartridges are a known problem. From the HP website: "This printer is intended to work only with cartridges that have a new or reused HP chip, and it uses dynamic security measures to block cartridges using a non-HP chip. Periodic firmware updates will maintain the effectiveness of these measures and block cartridges that previously worked." Not an issue if you, like me, tend stick to original toner, but it's not a practice I support.
