We have purchased your recliner on Trade Me in August this year. A very suspicious rather horrible smell coming from sofa it’s not tolerable to have face anywhere near the leather. The smell makes us cough and vomit it is overpowering chemical smell giving us headache and nausea , it stinks of chemicals. We cannot sit on it. We think it is that leather or we suspect non leather , is a fabric on sofa which has a disgusting chemical odour. My husband is asthmatic and have been coughing since we bought it. We contacted person whom we bought it from to return sofa but she said she is travelling overseas and to contact you. We asked her for a receipt but still havent got it from her. We re in Auckland region and requesting immediate truck to uplift it from us and refund us our money. Look forward to hear from you soon .

Hi there, can someone please contact me urgent? We located store this sofa was bought from it is Mount Wellington store in Auckland. They have confirmed that sofa is Nick Scali but are refusing to assist us with contaminated chemical smell we are breathing in, myself and my whole household. The purchaser of sofa who we bought it from through Trade Me is gone hiding and is not getting in touch with either us, buyers, Trade Me or Nick Scali. She confirmed she bought it from the above Auckland store. Trade Me is washing their hands off this blaming on type of payment we purchased via our bank account and not thru their Ping stuff. I buy my things the way I want and like this has nothing to go with issue we have? We want sofa to be retracted from our household as soon as possible as it stinks on chemicals . Here our health is on line and jeopardised. Nick Scali please take actions we don’t care about receipts we care about our health and potential poisoning. Awaiting for your quick response and resolve
I have just had a Leather sofa delivered 5 days ago and it stinks of chemicals. We cannot sit on it. We placed two large winter blankets on it in an effort to try to deaden the smell but this did not work on it and the smell is there still. We have tried using a fan and have 5 scented candles buring to get rid of the smell. NO USE. I am a previous customer and this did not happen with the previous lounge but I have been told you have changed manufactures to China and the leather is not the same as the first despite being told it was the same as my first lounge. We are now sitting on the floor as this is better than sitting anywhere on or near the lounge. A technican is coming on wednesday 5 days from now but I do not think we can tolerate the smell or the necessity to have all the windows open all the time. It is now getting cold at night. We are in a small apartment and the previous sofa has been given to family the same day as delivery of the new one. This is a most unsatisfactory, disappointing and disgusting. The smell is so bad it gives you a headache and bad taste in your mouth. We are also extremely concerned the impact of these chemicals is having on our health. The solution will be for you to take this lounge away provide refund and we will look elsewhere as I cannot see how this smell can be removed.

Hi Morris we bought the Volante Chocolate have you managed to get the smell out of your couch? We have used fans today on it to air the lounge all it did was send the foul smell through the whole house.
When we did sit on it with the blankets trying again after adding a third thick blanket the smell went all they way through to our clothes again. It is a very comfortable lounge but the smell is so foul we cannot sit on it.
I really am lost by all of this as the first leather lounge we purchased from them was great no smell and that was less than 3yrs ago in the same color.
It is going to be a very long uncomfortable and very smelly wait till wednesday.
We had our couch taken away Thursday. (2 weeks after delivery of the couch). The toxic odor could not be removed. We also suffered terribly. We went into their store yesterday to look at buying another one of Nick Scali's couches. We looked at the fabric couches, but we did not see anything we liked. We are very concerned that we will end up with toxic odor again with another leather couch. We cannot go through that again. Let us know how you get on. All the best with everything.

I do have the same problem. The toxic odor is terrible. I have window opened for 24 hours and it’s crazy cold at home because of that. But when I close the window I can’t breath at all. I try to avoid the room where the lounge is located. The smell is the same as the day of delivery. Lounge is already 3 days at our home.
We have the same problem. We received ours 9 days ago and it still has a terrible smell and causes intense itching when its sat on. We've had all the windows and fans on, but I still can't even stay in the same room as it. We rang them 5 days ago, but they arn't coming for another 2 days to have a look. I wish we hadn't bought the thing!
Longe was delivered on 6th April with first complaint made 4days later and after multiple complaints including going to into store at CARINGBAH NSW where sales person assured us Nick Scali's reputation was worth a lot to them and something would be done about a third party technician come out 17th April to check for Formaldehyde The reading was in normal range but the stench was not and the lounge was unable to be used More calls including a further visit to the Caringbah Store resulted in the Store managers comment and shoulders being shrugged "that's ok ill let them know" when we advised we had sought advice from Department of Fair Trading. The arrogance of the Store Manager was breathtaking. The Consumer law clearly states if the product purchased is not the same as the one displayed as example the consumer is entitled to a replacement or refund. The attitude was more or less tough luck not my problem. Again further calls made with both Lounge State Manager and the his boss being involved. We were told to spray a mixture of vinegar and water on the longue. We did this 4 times a day for 5 days till another technician this time a Nicki Scali employee came out on 10th May. We had not sat on the longue at all and it was now 5 weeks since delivery. He found longue in position with all windows and doors open to air longue and property but there was no escape from the acrid smell. He sprayed eucalyptus and tea tree oil mixed with water in between cushions. There was no advice if the smell would go. We have since bought both and are doing the same. They did offer to take lounge away and air it but how are we to know where its taken what they do to it and would it be a new longue we get back. Our faith respect trust has been destroyed. We will never buy another lounge or anything from Nick Scali again.
By the way someone (Michaele) from Nick Scali was suppose to have followed up following last technician visit on 10May. He has NOT. I can only assume they wish to sweep this matter under carpet and are not interested in any form of customer satisfaction. They have their money and that is it.
Oh and still cannot sit on lounge it is one the lies flat its not tolerable to have face anywhere near the leather. I do not think smell will ever go. I too wish i had not bought it.
Sorry to hear that DMB. Well they sent someone to check out our lounge suite and we were told we'd know the outcome within 3 days, a lady then phoned to say they had to have yet another inspection done, this time by a so called independent person. I can't sit on our chairs, I can't even go into the room it's in and I actually had to move out of our house because it was making me sick. This is incredibly BAD service and Incredibly BAD QUALITY!!. Looks like I'll have to go to the Office of Fair Trading as well.
We recently purchased a leather lounge from Nick Scali, Bundall. Gold Coast. Waited 9 weeks for it to arrive from China. The smell makes me cough. I find it overpowering. My partner thinks I am mad, as he can't smell it. .. I am pleased to read your comments, I keep hoping the smell will go away?
